are crocheted embellies still in…???

hi everyone!

i have been one heckuva busy girl!  and i have ENTIRELY to many hobbies/interests/{obsessions} for one person.  i am clearly going to need to live to be about 150+ to cover all i want to cover and explore!  i am HAPPY to report we had a break in the oppressive heat and pez has been able to play outside the last few days – she NEEDS the outdoor activity to burn off energy!

have you checked out the latest submission calls for Through the Craft Room Door?  do you have a fun holiday project we can include in our special holiday bonus issue?  do you like to play with card sketches?  check out our submissions page and send us some stuff!!!!!

my card today is all about the embellie.  i made it a year ago (maybe more) and love it and wanted to use it so i designed the card around it instead of saving the embellie selecting until last!

i am entering it in the following challenges:

Mojo Monday – sketch
AI Factory – Anything Goes
Catch the Bug – Anything Goes
Your Next Stamp – Beautiful Borders
Fun with Shapes – twine

i love the design AND the colors of the little crocheted piece.  i got this pattern from one of my ALL time favorite crochet embellishment books – Beyond the Square: Crochet Motifs by Edie Eckman.  i place it on a felt piece cut with a spellbinders nestie and then finished off with a glittered skittle in the center.  the border punch is from EK Success.  the three glittering squares are my own pezabling which you can order HERE.  while you are on my website be sure to look around – i am clearing everything out and all that i have left is 40% off – there are some really good deals on there!

for those that enjoyed my dollhouse posts i used to put up  here – be sure to go check out my latest post on Dotted Daisy Designs – we are nearing the completion of the exterior!  here’s a pic of my littlest helper while i was working yesterday:

this is Bubba Cat (formerly Bandit) the little kitten hubby and i fell in love with when we were fostering him for a few days.  i swear he is such a little dream baby!  We also have two new foster kittens until Sunday.  another Maine coon the color of our cat fluffy and a tuxedo cat.  i will have to get some pics later today!

i hope you all have a great weekend planned!

hugs

SFYTT:vintage picnic

good morning!….a little late – SOOOO i nearly killed myself this morning…..last night hubby made a (possibly well-meaning) comment regardig the unwise-ness of my decision to go down and get some ice cream before going to bed as i blog hopped. so of course what i *HEARD* was you shouldn’t do that since you are already an unattractive fat cow and it bothers me so much i need to step in……and i decided ok, thats it, the doc adjusted my meds which were causing me to gain weight so now i need to finally do something to take the weight i gained back off. several weeks ago while getting some Wii games i came across the jillian michaels 30 day shred dvd which my buddy suzanne has been using all summer with great results. so i thought 20 minute work outs – i can find time for THAT – it’s just 20 minutes. how bad can it be….well i THOUGHT i was GOING to die!!!! no wonder 20 minutes is all it takes. and my adora-baby pezzy was doing her baby best to do the exercises right along with me – too CUTE! so i think in 20 minutes i managed to make sure every muscle i possess will hurt in the morning including all the ones i have never even used before!

but enough about that on to my fun for today:

sfytt080809i used my friend Jen’s SFYTT this week.

i decided to do it long ways instead of tall ways so it would fit my image.

SFYTT

this image is one of the adorable Elisabeth Bell images exclusive to my friend Susana’s store.  i think EBs go perfectly with vinatge-style embellies so i crocheted a flower and matching border with thread for this one.  popped a glittered skittle in the flower center and a few pezabling glittering squares down one side and the additional border in Kraft which goes nicely with the ecru thread.

i colored the image with copics and added lots of glittering highlights with my spica pens

as always with an elisabeth bell i was a bit intimidated at first but once i got going i was ok and i am happy with the end result!

we are taking it easy today and getting some things done around the house since we spent most of yesterday at the park, tomorrow will be a local pick your own farm with tons of fun play areas for the kids with my mom’s club group and then saturday off to six flags for the day!!  talk about going going going!!

anyone else with fun plans this weekend???

SC241:Princess Isabella shimmers!

blog tag

good MORNING!  i have a VERY exciting project for ya today – not only is it my first Princess Isabella card it also features more of the Inspirations shimmering paints i was asked to test out!

SC241

what…test out something with super shimmer power?  how could i say no!  do those look DEE lish or what!?!?!?!  but more on the paints in a minute!

SC241 close up

my card uses the SCS sketch241 for today – i really loved this one!  i used the cutting outside the box trick with my nesties so Isa’s little music notes stick out a bit.  her hair and skin are done with copics and most of the rest came from my scrap pile – the papers and ribbons.  i wanted her eyes to have some sparkle and did those with my chocolate spica pen.

i have been doing a lot of crocheting while i watch pez in the yard – such an easy thing to grab and take with me.  i like the intricate fancy patterns so i use size 20 thread and a tiny hook to keep their size reasonable!

 Photobucket

i wanted to try and give you a good glimpse of the shimmer in the Inspirations paints.  i used 4 colors on Isa – turquoise, sky blue, bright yellow and white frost.   Two really cool things about these paints – the colors are VERY vibrant and they stay mixed – no seperating of the ingredients.  they are also vibrant and still sheer so the detail lines of my stamp can show through.  i hope to do more experimenting with these soon!  they are not available for purchase YET but very very soon!  just a few minor details being worked out and i will be sure to pass on the details!

and now i am off – i promised tot ake pezzy to the park before it gets too hideous out!

be sure and let me know what you think of Isa AND the cool new paints!

have a fabby day!

OCCC – ahhhhh embellies….

SO i don’t know if anyone has noticed but i am on a serious embellie kick lately. So OF COURSE i jumped on the OCCC challenge – pick a fave embellie and build a card around it – my dilemma? what ISN’T my favorite embellie…so i picked several hee heee! i know i used a sketch but can’t for the life of me figure out which one….weird..anywho here is the card:
How adorable is this little girl?? i have had her for awhile but had not used her yet i don’t think. so let’s start with the embellishments i picked. i made this pink crocheted border and really wanted to use that and i also wanted to use some flower soft on another image. finally i have some neglected spellbinders dies i wanted to start using -everyone knows the nesties but they also have some other really nice dies. SO i used all three hahahhaha!! i live by the saying if some is good more is better. i colored the image with copics and added flower soft to the flowers and grass.

I am still adding products to the website and will continue until i get them all up but it is a slow (and tedious not so much fun) process. i am expecting the flower soft this week *crossing fingers*. more things in the works but you will have to wait a bit for that 🙂

have a stampy day!

Studio G ATC size Valentine challenge….

Oh goodness i had WAY too much fun with these! i did all 8 in about 2 hours – pretty quick i think!
This first one is also from the etsy inspired challenge over on Hearthugsdesigns:
the etsy shop this week is Scrap-n-scribe – THE most adorable hairbows! anyway there are two different kinds of bows that i thought would look great on cards and here is one of them.

and now the whole set of 8 ATC valenties i made:

SO again – ATC size is 3.5″ x 2.5″ – so i gathered up my bittersweet pezzy picks kit goodies first and cut 8 pieces of solid Bazzill 5″ x 3.5″ and folded them in half. from there i picked out a tag sketch from the page maps page, some bittersweet patterned paper and selected a studio G stamp or two and went to town. i only had three inks out – all brilliance dew drops – chocolate, orchid and red poppy. i also had cinnamon stickles, ruby liquid pearls and pink liquid pearls along with my bittersweet clay embellies i made and the ribbon from the Pezzy’s picks kit. this made it easy because everything i grabbed matched 🙂 i did throw in a crocheted heart on one of them too.
i just love using the clay embellishments and have had ALOT of folks asking if i will be selling them – i do have some plans too that are in the works but no release date for you yet. there will be a birthday line, some little critters (of course) and easter. the easter ones will be made to match some of the new paper collections released at CHA. now where DID i put that coffee……..i am going to need it!! hahahah!

i really want to see what other folks come up with so be sure to come back and leave me a link! also don’t forget we have a polkadot pie contest running at the same time!

hugs!
