i am Piling It On again for this one!  i have included the following challenges:

SFYTT – sketch
Pile It On – Tinsel Town – use some glitz
SCS CC – Always Artichoke, Razzleberry, Barely Banana with velvet/flock as dessert
Bitten By The Bug (BBTB) – Ribbon Frame cut from JOTS
Practical Scrappers – anything Christmas

And here is my card:

I think this might be one of my fave cards this year!  purple & green are my fave color combo ANYTIME and JUST monday i had decided to get a few things at Ms for my mini tree and a wreath and decided to do the purple & green color combo they have out this year.  so when i read this color combo challenge the next day i jumped on it!  the dark green panel is actually a piece of SEI velvet paper – that stuff is awesome!  the ribbon frame has three layers – the shadow, the frame with leaves and then just the ribbon portion – using all three is what really gives the die cut it’s depth.  rather than use the paper berries that also get cut out with this i decided to do the berries with platinum liquid pearls (>>CLICK HERE<<) .  if you get peaks when you dot on your liquid pearls just thump the back of the paper and the peaks will fall.  the ornate spellbinders tag went perfectly with the theme of the card and the Dusty Lavender Pezabling (>>CLICK HERE<<) i brought in for Halloween is a really nice match for the Razzleberry paper!

my main image is from SCACD and is a Karen Lockhart from her window series – this one is Holiday Window.  i colored it with copics and then cut it to fit in my frame.  i accented the berries in the image with platinum liquid pearls too.  my sentiment is studio G as always! (>>GET THE NEW ONES HERE<<)

many of you have requested instructions on the card i did for fancy folding TIOT on tuesday – i have made the template and hope to get it finished up and have directions up tomorrow!

now i am off to bake early morning cookies with Pezza, i got a cookie press from Pampered Chef – been wanting one for AGES!

have a  FANTASTIC day!

SGC22 time!! color challenge for ya!

happy sunday y’all!  i hope everyone had a wonderful funfilled weekend!  SO SORRY for being so late in posting today’s challenge!!  i have been a little behind this weekend but i have just GOT to tell you about my day yesterday.

i don’t know if they do this everywhere but in our area around this time of year the Boy Scouts go door to door collecting food for the needy.  well this year our NJROTC cadets signed up to volunteer at the local food bank to help sort the food and parents were asked to volunteer in shifts to supervise the cadets.  so i signed up and thats where i spent saturday morning.  i have to say it was an amazing experience.

when i walked in the little warehouse/storage area was PILED HIGH with food donations!!  i mean TONS of food.  i was just awestruck at the generosity of people right there to see.  especially since there was a time when the boys were very small (i raised them both alone and was very young) when i was on the other side of the food donations.  so i was truly touched and have been thinking all weekend of all the people along the way that really helped me along the way in so many ways while i waited tables and put myself through college with two small boys – certainly not something i could have done alone.  i talked to the guy in charge and he said they are hoping the donations will be enough to last until march.  pretty impressive!  however this is the biggest time of year for donations.  after this they dwindle to very little and there are lots of people who still need help throughout the year.  so i am hoping that everyone will remember gratitude and generosity beyond the holiday season and donate at other times!  we plan on helping out with the cadets before Christmas too and then i might look into helping them on a more regular basis.

be sure and check out the beautiful new stamps!

first our winner for SGC21:

Kristina!  email your address to me for your prize: marti {at} pezadoodle {dot} com

Now for the next challenge – i have a color challenge for you – brown, blue and rust (or copper/bronze)

here is mine:

has anyone been to Michaels recently?  ok stop laughing, i know, silly question!  well if you have and you have strolled through their Christmas stuff you have seen all the new off beat christmas colors.  my fave is the blue and bronze – just LOVE it!!!  so that was my inspiration here.  i used a bronze metallic encore ink pad instead of rust so i get a bit of shimmer.  The bottom-most panel is SEI patterned paper.  the next blue layer is also SEI – it has a FAINT blue pattern on it and then i stamped the bronze snowflakes with a studio G stamp.  The two trees are also studio Gs stamped in bronze.  the light blue snowflakes and *cheer* sentiment are glitter rubons.  everything is edged with bronze ink using the foam ink blending tool.  of course i HAD to finish it off with a couple matching pezabling on top and bottom!

my card covers several challenges in addition to the Studio G:

Mojo Monday – Sketch
Pile It On – Rub Ons
Crafty Creations – Metal or Metallic finish

I hope you have a chancce to join in and put those cute little $1 stamps to WORK!  be sure to leave your link here in Mr. Linky!

well pezzy is having great fun with her Mimi and i think my mom is really enjoying her.  she is SO much fun most of the time with her wild imagination – i thought drake’s was good but WOW…..

i snuck in a bit of crafting time today!  my mom is off at lunch and the movies with Trev (drake stayed behind) and pezzy went down for a nap right after they left SO of course i ran downstairs to my hideout!

Piling It On: goodies for lil goblins

good morning!  well it is stiiiiiillll raining here.  apparently i need to figure out how to build an ark with my cricut or something……best of all Pezzy the Wonder Tot has been up since 4.  no thats not a typo.  i didn’t let her out of her bed til 6 but 2 hours of bed police instead of crafting time makes for a very grumpy mom……

blog tag

as promised i have some great projects to share today.  they incorporate 6 challenges for the Pile It On challenge:

1. Pile It On – Halloween

2. Cute Card Thursday Challenge – spookfest

3. ABC Challenge – F is for flying

4. Paper Play – (with our very own Sandie) – use your favorite embellie

5. Sweet Dreamers – use bugs

6. Daring Card Makers – clear – either the whole card or an embellishment

i could have included more because so many are focusing on halloween but ….

can you tell i am loving the Pile It On blog???  i feel like it gave me permission to be ok with combining challenges!  now on to the PICS!!

halloween treat all

remember the cookies i am giving to a few of the neighbors?  here are the treat holders i made for them.  These are from the same Picnic Basket template set – it has the large one and then a mini size too.  i made them extra tall and left out the lids.  i put the cookies in these tall cello bags i found in the baking section at joanns, tied a ribbon to keep them closed and attached a halloween tag  from my current Studio G challenge set to each one.  The current Studio G challenge is to use halloween colors – orange, black, green and purple – we only have a few entries so far so that means good odds of winning!!

here are some closer looks at each gift set:

halloween treat 1

i kept the boxes pretty simple.  each one has a spider web (my clear item for daring card makers).  want a GREAT tip for making your own ghost shapes?  you know the hard plastic packaging alot of things come in – like cricut cartridges and cuttlebug goodies?  well don’t throw it away!  it cuts wonderfully in the cricut with the deep blade housing.  at first it looks like it didn’t cut through but they just pop right out!  i put a little pearl metallic mixative on them for a bit of shimmer and to help them stand out a bit.  all of the cuts are from the paper dolls cartridge.

halloween treat 2

Carys’s bag has a few extras because her granma is visiting *wink*

halloween treat 3

I cut the ghost out of the hard plastic too.

In addition to the box of cookies Pezzy and i made a fun and easy little pumpkin tea light holder for each family:

Pumpkin lights

We made one tall one for us and mini ones for giving away.

here they are lit:

Pumpkins LIT

Wanna know how i did it??  i got the idea from Roni – THE BEST for tips and tricks on using all things Ranger.

Roni used several colors and gave hers a more mottled effect – i used one color and went for more complete coverage.

the jars are baby food jars – i knew i saved them all these years for SOMEthing!  all i did was squirt some alcohol ink in – actually pezzy squirted it in and then we swirled it around on the inside of the jar until it was completely covered.  i let any excess drip out and then let it dry for a couple minutes.  the tall one is terra cotta and the small one is Sunset Orange.  Next i took black diamond stickles and just hand drew a simple pumpkin face on and let it dry.  tie a ribbon around the top and you’re done!

i wanted to try some metallics too so i did a few more in christmas colors. here is one with sail boat blue alcohol ink and silver metallic mixatives.

blue snowflake jar

after it dried i used some white snowflake SU rubons around the jar.  the mixatives are not transparent so i don’t know if it will have the same effect with the tea light but i do think it would be cute holding a little bag of candy!

i did a few other combos but no pics yet – i did one with meadow and gold mixative, one with just clover, and one with red pepper and pearl mixative.  the pearl is somewhat transparent and shimmery.  not sure yet what else i will do one the outside but i am thinking some simple cricut cuts might look good….

**YES alcohol inks are flammable – WHEN WET.  once dry the alcohol has evaporated and you are left with just color.  i let mine sit overnight and then lit them with no problems.  NEVER leave a candle unattended!!**

what do you think???
