SCACD TIOT: bubble fun

nearly the weekend WOOHOO!  i have no idea what we are doing this weekend but i am hoping it involves finally finishing the butterfly garden on the side of the house!  and one last load of mulch!

i had a bunch of fun chatting with some of the girls first on the magazine website Through the Craft Room Door and then later over on the Color Me Creative copic website for Suzanne’s classes.  what a fun bunch!  my Cricut classes over there will be getting underway very soon!

tomorrow my oldest, Drake, is stopping in for a visit on their way to move to new hampshire from south carolina – that boy is nuts!  no plan – well they have a what they think is a plan – you know the carefree barely past teenagers type of a plan which is vastly different from the i have seen and done it all and now i know better type of plan I would make but……  ahhh to be young!  i was really hoping they (i will be meeting this girlfriend of his – only girlfriend he has ever had) would be staying a few days but they have friends helping that are on a time schedule.  pezza will NOT be happy at the shortness of the visit.  drake worked hard at being her favorite when he lived here.  he will be taking his car with him which trevor has been using all this time so trev isn’t thrilled.  guess the hated car shopping will begin – ICK!  the worst part of it is mediating between the two – hubby and trevor! hha haha

this morning we are off to the dentist.  i have a feeling i will not be getting off easy like i usually do this time.  i have rarely ever had a cavity but i have one tooth that seems a bit iffy lately……we’ll see

today is thursday so that means there is a new batch of shimmering delight over on the Creative Inspiration blog – be sure to check those out!  you can purchase the paints at Susana’s Custom Art & Card Design!

my TIOT project was lots of fun this week!  In addition to TIOT i also used the following challenges for inspiration:

Splitcoast: Sketch challenge
Papertake Weekly: Shiny/Sparkly

and here is my card:

i used Bubbles from the most recent Elisabeth Bell release – how seriously cute is this?!?!?!? LOVE that sweet little face! my layout for this card comes from the Splitcoast sketch challenge yesterday real goodie this week! i used basic grey papers – though my pads have split apart and now i don’t know which is which for these EEK! Susana just got a bunch of new 6×6 pads in – basic grey, kaisercraft and 7 gypsies – some seriously YUMMY paper and i LOVE the 6×6 size – makes it so much easier to collect them all KWIM!!! ok back to the card at hand! before i began i gave the two patterned papers a good misting with Smooch Vanilla Breeze shimmering mist to give them some amazing shimmer without altering the look of the pattern at all. this is one of my favorite techniques! my perfect little double loop bow was easy to do with my bow easy!  the embellies are from Webster’s Pages and are called sparklers and WOW i love them!!!  i will be looking into Webster’s Pages further!  these were a gift from Susana.

I stamped this little cutie with black memento ink and colored her with copics. then i cut her out and covered her little bubbles in Viva Decor Holographic Glitter Liner – i am STILL amazed by the sparkle in these. i cut her out to layer her over all of the smaller layers in my card.

i made the little swirls free hand with some Viva Decor pens – i used ice white and light blue pearl pens and holographic glitter liner. these are actually pretty easy to do – keep the droplets close so you can see the pattern. in this case they alternate between ice white and the other two but you can do them all in one color too!
if you have not yet checked out these new elisabeth bell images you should – probably her best set yet!!!

have a great day!

it’s a vintage TIOT for SCACD!

hi all!!!!

well i am having a WONDERFUL morning!  today is my birthday – the big 40 – ICK.  it isn’t so much that i feel old or anything because i don’t.  most times i don’t even feel like an adult HAHHAHHA!  what’s bad is that for the first time ever i finally LOOK my age.  i could pass for a teenager into my early thirties…not so much anymore….WAHHHH.

BUT my hubby did his usual fantastic job for my bday.  he always knows EXACTLY the right things to get me.  so today i woke up to a GIANT birthday banner in the kitchen AND he had done all the kitchen clean up for me (i never have it in me to do dinner clen up at night).  then in front of the coffee maker he hd some elmo party hats, a bday girl ribbon pin and two keychains – a camera and a rubber duckie – i obssess on rubber duckies).  i have also been trying to collect up some keychains – don’t ask.  needless to say i was surprised and happy.  THEN i made my coffee and came over to get on my computer and there is this black thing on a box sitting next to it – an external hard drive.  i REALLY needed one with all the videos i have been doing.  he was telling me i needed one with a terrabyte of space since gigabytes aren’t enough for me.  i thought he was teasing me but there really IS such a thing!!!  YAY!!  he knows i am not into what i call non-useful gifts – flowers and jewelry just seem kinda lame when i have stuff i want that i can USE.  for years he has been getting ink cartridges as part of his gifts – i mean what better thing to get someone who prints out photos constantly!!!  hahhahha!  the best thing baout his gifts is that they show how much he really does pay attention to me and what i like – i mean a rubber duckie keychain – PERFECT!!  he also brought home more of those amazing cupcakes from red velvet – YUM!!!

and for those concerned – YES i got my poor child more paint yesterday!  she had a grand time traipsing through AC Moore – she got paints and some giant bottles of glitter glue to mix into them – AHHHH takes after momma!  she also informed me she needed some wood objects to paint so she picked a few out.  all cricut carts are on sale right now for 45 – EEK!  i had robotz in my hands but refrained for now.  however it is calling me all the way out here…..they were also getting the cricut cake area all set up.  heads up the three cake carts will be on sale next week.  oh i hope my cake machine makes it here soon!!!!

now the real reason you’re here!

suzanne gave us a fantastic challenge – and it was a challenge! we were to do our project in all sepia tones. i thought the new EB All Grown Up was perfect for this one:

despite being a little intimidated at first i had SO MUCH FUN with this! i used papers from the DCWV neutral stack which has wonderful browns and copper so it fit perfectly.  i inked the edges with brilliance copper ink. i embellished with some primas and a couple cuts from the Heritage Cricut Cartridge. The cute little bow is done with my bow easy. i love this little thing!!

I stamped All Grown Up with Memento ink and colored her with Copics. I used Viva Decor Pearl Pen in Cream for the pearls around her neck and in the flower centers. i gave her purse and eyes some accents with spica glitter pens.

i hope you pop over to the SCACD store blog & enjoy strolling through the other incredible projects by the DT!

have a fantastic day!

i used Jen’s sketch for you to try for this one – a really neat one i think!

and here is one of the adorable new elisabeth bell for SCACD exclusives:

i LOVE this image!  it’s called You Have Mail and is part of probably the cutest Elisabeth Bell release yet!  i used two pieces of basic grey kioshi patterned paper and took my color scheme from those.  i also used one of my new ek succcess border punches on the pale purple piece.

I stamped the image with memento black ink and colored her with copics.  i finished it off with a few of the cute little Prima roses.

the next hop stop is Jennifer –  have fun!

well i am a day late with my Frame Up challenge from Suzanne but better late than never! i had LOTS of fun with this little cutie!
I started with the sketch challenge and color challenge over on SCS. The patterned piece is from the new Basic Grey Kioshi collection – HEAVENLY colors and of course susana has it in the 6×6 pad!

I stamped the Latte Elisabeth Bell image with Memento black ink and colored her with copics. i used my sewing machine to stitch the frame around the mat. i am not the best at doing fancy corner stitching so i hid my corners with the adorable little Prima Tiny Tots – LOVE these little things – they come in a nice assortment of colors and are a perfect size!

i put on a few orange pezabling to accent the image.

As a finishing touch i did my own custom swirls using some Viva Decor Pens – I used the Lime Green Paper Pen & the Gold Glitter Liner. these are actually pretty easy to do. i draw the swirls on with a versamark pen and follow those!

if you have not taken the Viva Decor plunge i encourage you to JUMP IN!

SCACD bling

blog tag
Suzanne asked the SCACD DT to use bling on our creations this week – like that was a challenge hee heee! i am ALWAYS up for some bling! my bling of choice for this round is Creative Inspirations paints created by my friend Molly. i helped her out with the initial testing and fell IN LOVE WITH THEM!
as soon as i saw the Atlantia stamp by Elisabeth Bell i knew i wanted to try this technique with her. i began by putting the card base together using the gorgeous Basic Grey Wisteria papers.

look what happens when you tilt the card – the shimmer is just deeLISH!
i stamped Atlantia in versamark and embossed her with clear embossing powder on shimmery white cardstock (it has a coating to it that makes this work better.) then i misted the piece heavily with water. next i added aquamarine, sunshine & olive green CI paints randomly across the image with a water brush and just let the colors thin out and run in the water.
i propped it up & let it dry and love the free flowing shimmering effect!
i hope you all have a wonderful holiday season!!!

SFYTT:vintage picnic

good morning!….a little late – SOOOO i nearly killed myself this morning…..last night hubby made a (possibly well-meaning) comment regardig the unwise-ness of my decision to go down and get some ice cream before going to bed as i blog hopped. so of course what i *HEARD* was you shouldn’t do that since you are already an unattractive fat cow and it bothers me so much i need to step in……and i decided ok, thats it, the doc adjusted my meds which were causing me to gain weight so now i need to finally do something to take the weight i gained back off. several weeks ago while getting some Wii games i came across the jillian michaels 30 day shred dvd which my buddy suzanne has been using all summer with great results. so i thought 20 minute work outs – i can find time for THAT – it’s just 20 minutes. how bad can it be….well i THOUGHT i was GOING to die!!!! no wonder 20 minutes is all it takes. and my adora-baby pezzy was doing her baby best to do the exercises right along with me – too CUTE! so i think in 20 minutes i managed to make sure every muscle i possess will hurt in the morning including all the ones i have never even used before!

but enough about that on to my fun for today:

sfytt080809i used my friend Jen’s SFYTT this week.

i decided to do it long ways instead of tall ways so it would fit my image.

this image is one of the adorable Elisabeth Bell images exclusive to my friend Susana’s store.  i think EBs go perfectly with vinatge-style embellies so i crocheted a flower and matching border with thread for this one.  popped a glittered skittle in the flower center and a few pezabling glittering squares down one side and the additional border in Kraft which goes nicely with the ecru thread.

sfytt close up

i colored the image with copics and added lots of glittering highlights with my spica pens

as always with an elisabeth bell i was a bit intimidated at first but once i got going i was ok and i am happy with the end result!

we are taking it easy today and getting some things done around the house since we spent most of yesterday at the park, tomorrow will be a local pick your own farm with tons of fun play areas for the kids with my mom’s club group and then saturday off to six flags for the day!!  talk about going going going!!

anyone else with fun plans this weekend???
