Studio G ATC size Valentine challenge….

Oh goodness i had WAY too much fun with these! i did all 8 in about 2 hours – pretty quick i think!
This first one is also from the etsy inspired challenge over on Hearthugsdesigns:
the etsy shop this week is Scrap-n-scribe – THE most adorable hairbows! anyway there are two different kinds of bows that i thought would look great on cards and here is one of them.

and now the whole set of 8 ATC valenties i made:

SO again – ATC size is 3.5″ x 2.5″ – so i gathered up my bittersweet pezzy picks kit goodies first and cut 8 pieces of solid Bazzill 5″ x 3.5″ and folded them in half. from there i picked out a tag sketch from the page maps page, some bittersweet patterned paper and selected a studio G stamp or two and went to town. i only had three inks out – all brilliance dew drops – chocolate, orchid and red poppy. i also had cinnamon stickles, ruby liquid pearls and pink liquid pearls along with my bittersweet clay embellies i made and the ribbon from the Pezzy’s picks kit. this made it easy because everything i grabbed matched 🙂 i did throw in a crocheted heart on one of them too.
i just love using the clay embellishments and have had ALOT of folks asking if i will be selling them – i do have some plans too that are in the works but no release date for you yet. there will be a birthday line, some little critters (of course) and easter. the easter ones will be made to match some of the new paper collections released at CHA. now where DID i put that coffee……..i am going to need it!! hahahah!

i really want to see what other folks come up with so be sure to come back and leave me a link! also don’t forget we have a polkadot pie contest running at the same time!

hugs!

MOJO 72 contest

i got a chance to play with the MOJO sketch this morning – which is good because it is contest week 🙂 – here is the sketch->

and my card (i know, minus a layer but i liked this better so……):

Here is a closer look:
i couldn’t decide on a paper for the background so i made my own using the little hearts from the Polkadot Pie Loveys with Pezzy stamp set and Versamagic Red Brick dew drops (all on sale 25% off right now!) I filled in the blank spaces with Fired Brick distress stickles. the black dot paper, red patterned paper and dotted ribbon are from the bo bunny Pezzy’s Pick kit. The main image is from the Polkadot Pie Chocolate Treats 2 and colored with copics. i crocheted the heart and border and stamped the sentiment in more versamagic with a studio G sentiment from series 29 *blowing kisses to iceepenguin/charlotte for sending them to me*.

be sure and check out what else is on sale as i continue the markdowns!!

**TUTORIAL** playing with alcohol ink…

hi all!!

i have another cute little valentine’s card to share – i can’t for the life of me find where i got the sketch so forgive me – it is apparently not the most current one as i made the rounds of my fave sketch challenge blogs and didn’t see it……

today’s card uses valentine pezzy from Polkadot Pie, the sweetie pie pezzy’s picks kit and a really cool alcohol ink technique background piece i picked up from tim’s 12 tags of christmas (quick tutorial below):

The patterned & black papers and the three buttons are from the bo bunny sweetie pie mini kit i have in stock. the center piece is an alcohol ink background that i ran through my cuttlebug embossing folder. these backgrounds are quick and easy and really add a nice touch!

Here is a close up of the image – i colored her with copics and then accented her shoes and the hearts with my red glaze pen. the alcohol ink background has shades of reds with some copper shimmer running through it.

want to make your own quick background? in appreciation of the new alcohol ink colors coming out here is a simple tutorial for you:

Gather your supplies: 1 alcohol ink mixative, 2-3 coordinating alcohol ink colors, craft mat, glossy cardstock (cut down – smaller pieces are easier to work with), blending solution.

Step 1 -drip some drops of metallic mixative randomly on the craft sheet.

drip random drips of the colored alcohol inks among the mixative drips.

drip blending solution randomly over the alcohol ink – the more you use the lighter your colors will be.

Lay your glossy cardstock piece face down on the drips, move it around a bit to blend and cover – making it sort of pin gives a nice effect. Grab a side or corner and lift the cardstock up slowly. you can usually cover a couple pieces of cardstock with the puddle you make.

now how is that for quick and easy??? oh i cannot wait for the new colors! i hope we will not have to wait long!

In preparation for CHA i will be announcing the details of a BIG giveaway later this week so stay tuned!!!!!
