i’m making a mess with SCACD today!

good morning!

i am slowly recovering from the CHA exhaustion!  my mom is staying here until wednesday so she watched pezza again yesterday while we went out and spent some time together ALONE which is a rarity.  we don’t get babysitters, so i think we have been pez-less like 4 times since she was born!  we went for a drive, had some lunch together, and then browsed one of our favorite antique malls.  i was SO ready to be home with hubby!!!  i picked up some great vintage junk jewelry clip on earrings and a box of buttons.  there is not much exciting in the buttons but i plan on making a bracelet out of the earrings.  our best find – TWO awesome printers trays!  hubby is going to re-do my craft room and these will be perfect storage for the massive amounts of little bits n things!  these are about three times the size of the decorative ones from 7 gypsies.  though i will be getting a few of those for christmas decor ideas!

ok onto my post for today!  yes i have a project!  i love the little chipboard shapes susana has started carrying in her store (SCACD).  so i challenged kim, my cohort in making a mess monday, to do something fun with chipboard:

i used some yummy papers from the Basic Gray Green At Heart collection – i really love the papers in this one!  i have used it quite a bit!  i just ADORE the little Silly Pilly stamp from the first Aurora Collection and i have not used him in awhile so i made him my focal image.  he is colored with copics and i gave him a bit of glitz with a spica glitter pen.  the flowers above and below him are chipboard flowers from the maya road minis.  i covered them with viva decor modeling cream.  the great thing about this technique is that it is super fast and super easy!  i used two different colors and completely covered the flowers with the lighter color first using a sponge and dabbing so i got that great texture.  modeling cream is a dream consistency – easy to work with but firm enough to do things like these peaks without sinking down and leveling out.  next i dabbed the darker purple in the center and got a bit of a blend with the lighter color.  of course the centers are glittered skittles!

i wanted to do a little something extra with the green panel and so i decided to use the Modeling Cream here too along with one of the fabulous Crafter’s Workshop Templates available now at SCACD.  This technique is SO easy.  I simply lay the stencil down and gently spread the modeling cream like icing with a plastic spatula.  i used both purple colors here too so i got sort of a blend.  and you can see how perfect the consistency is for this – when i lift the stencil the design is so crisp!  look at those edges!

so what do YOU like to do with chipboard?  are you looking for ideas?  check out this video on some quick ideas i had!!  and be on the lookout soon for one one all the fabulous things you can do with Crafter’s Workshop Templates!

want to distress??

well i am happy to report we are dodging the bullet this time and getting only rain today instead of snow!!!  yesterday it was 47 degrees and pezzy and i were running errands with no coats because it felt so good!

then we got a weird site when we arrived home.  new folks just moved in next door this weekend.  so we pull in and they are also getting out of the car – a dad, two boys probably 8 & 10 or slightly older and a pre-teen girl.  so i am talking to pez, oh look the new neighbors have kids, blah blah blah and one of the boys – IN THE FRONT YARD – drops his pants and starts peeing in the yard!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!  *SCREECH* the worst part, the dad looked at him and said NOTHING!!!!  pez is saying what is he doing?   i mean we aren’t talking about a 3 year old here…..SOOOO i can’t wait to see what else is in store….the last two sets were awful, the first ones moved out in the middle of the night EEK!

ok onto funner things…

the DT call for creative inspirations paints is now closed – i will be getting back to everyone very soon!  wtch for an announcement on the CI blog!

talk about productive in my studio yesterday!!  it helped that kevin woke up with pezzy so i got some UNINTERRUPTED play time WOO HOO!  i finished 5 projects and 4 video tutorials!!!!!!  HOLY COW!  i find it funny thta sometimes i spend time down there and get very little accomplished and then sometimes i am AMAZED out how much i accomplish!

as many of you remember i had a big giveaway when i hit 100K blog hits and i asked everyone to tell me what products they have that go unused or what tips would they like to see.  One that i get alot was about achieving the *distressed look* on your papercrfts.  Now this topic could make an entire BOOK but i thought it would be helpful to give just some basic tips for starting out or for the occasional distressed project.  the video features steps for making THIS card:

i used patterned paper from a K&Co pad that has an overall *ditressed* look to it.  I crocheted the embellies using a book called beyond the square – if you only get ONE book to crochet embellies this should be the one!!  the medallion has a little glittered skittle in the center.  the flourish accent on the pink panel is by Inkadinkado and stamped with versamark and then embossed with antique linen distress embossing powder.  You can find more details and a quick how to in my latest Stamping Basics video:
i hope you have found it helpful!  be sure to let me know and leave requests if you have them!

Just Buggin challenge 17: inky fingers & tutorial!

everyone back on schedule?  i love holidays but also find it difficult to be off schedule & out of routine.

i have another peek at Pezzy for the holidays for you.  pezzy begged for a gingerbread house this year as soon as they appeared in michaels.  the kit is a bit of a rip off – a few pieces of gingerbread & candy with a big bag of powdered sugar.  so next year i may have to look into baking the *walls* myself but she had fun!

today’s post is exciting for me – not only another project for another SUPERB challenge over at Just Buggin but i finally made another couple video tutorials!!

Challenge 17 from our wonderful leader Samantha over at Just Buggin is Inky Fingers.  the girls all did wonderful projects so i sure hope you check out the challenge blog and the other members of the team.  My project is two little tags i did:

all pieces were cut on my cricut – shadow piece and two pieces for each tag base, snowflakes & little snow friends.  for each tag i cut the top piece with decorative scissors or edge punches to create fun layers.  every layer is puton with foam tape to give lots of depth and dimension.  the snowflakes have glittered crystal skittles in the centers.

I inked all of my edges with white.  i thought for these in particular white or lighter was better than the usual darker inking.  it adds to the *frosty* look of the scenes i think.  after inking well onto the pieces i added thin lines of crystal stickles & i also stamped white snowflakes across all of my die cuts.  the snowman’s face is a peachy keen stamp of course – kathy is fabulous over there!

and now VIDEOS!!  i will admit they are a little rough.  i have still not gotten a good method down for filming OR for making sure i stay within the fraame.  i was also working with new editing software but here they are – two new additions to the Stamping Basics Series:

inking die cuts:

inking edges:

These supplies for inking are available in my online store – Pezadoodle Designs and are ranger products – ink blending tool, foam ink blending replacements and non stick craft sheet.  See THIS POST for answers to some of the questions i have been asked…

i hope you found these useful – if you DID spur me on!!!  leave me a comment!  tutorials are extremely time consuming.  i love to do them but i need to know if it is worth it TO YOU for me to do more.  keep an eye out HERE for more info on future tutorials designed BY YOU!  a format change for the new year that i have in mind…….
