SC292 & TIOT: spunky lil’ Aurora for ya!

hellooo!!!

well i did it!  i sewed a bag!  now i have sewn before so i wasn’t COMPLETELY unsure of myself BUT i had never done a bag before…

Pezza had picked out this fabric way back before spring.  if you have not been in a quilt shop before let me tell ya how they “get” ya – quilting fabric collections come out just like paper collections – you will have anywhere from 5 to 15 or more coordinating fabrics in a collection and the patterns are to die for!  then what they do at my shop is bundle them all up together which makes them even more appealing and easy to grab!  so Pezza grabbed this one (among others) and i used several to make her this little bag.  i had a few bumps along the way and the bag wouldn’t hold up to close scrutiny but i learned the ins and outs and am ready to make her another one for Halloween!

i am so glad to be getting back into a normal routine to be here posting for Susana’s store! This week we are doing a color challenge with Aurora! Our colors are green, pink & blue…..well i didn’t manage to sneak any pink in but i am close right??? in addition we were to use some Viva Decor products and you know how i LOVE my Viva Decor!!!

I used the sketch for yesterday’s SCS challenge – and it was a challenge! i almost didn’t do it but i am glad i did! it turned out cute!  In addition my card is also inspired by the following challenges:

Pile It On – Butterflies, bugs, and bees
Creative Card Crew – Cute N Girly
ABC Challenge – A is for August
Daring Cardmakers – It’s a girl thing

and here is my card:

I used patterned papers from the Memory Box Jubilee collection Susana got in recently – i am hoping to add a few more of those to my stash! i colored Aurora and her little Bee friend from the Aurora 2 collection with Copics and cut her out with the Labels 4 Spellbinders die.

i am in LOVE with the Maya Road chipboard minis that Susana has been bringing in. Here i have a swirl that has been sprayed with gold Maya Mist and a flower that has been covered in the super shining Steel Blue Inka Gold by Viva Decor. I mounted it on a fabric yoyo and accented it with a glittered skittle and some tiny Viva Decor Pearl Pen droplets. i added another mini fabric yoyo and glittered skittle to balance the cluster.

Here i have another maya chipboard mini – a butterfly – covered with Lava Green Inka Gold and accented with both pearl pen and glitter liner.

and now i am off to finish playing catch up!!! have a fantastic day!!!

Suzanne challenged the DTs with a sketch this week. i just HAD to play with another Aurora the Sprite stamp – this one is Aurora with Cake:

is she just too stinkin cute!!

I stamped her with memento tuxedo black ink and then colored her with copics. i used spica glitter pens for some sparkling accents. then i cut her out with curved rectangles nestibilities.  i added a few chocolate glittered skittles to balance off her big bow on the other side.
aurora is so much fun to color! it has taken me awhile to get back into the swing of creating after my break during CHA but i am slowly getting my groove back i think!
Have YOU brought some Aurora’s home to play with yet???

Try It Out Tuesday over at the SCACD blog!!

HOLY COW – in 4 days i will be hitting the booths at CHA!!!!  i really am starting to get excited!!!!  the prediction of snow when my plane leaves has been downgraded to rain so THAT’S a relief!!!!  i tell ya it makes me giddy just thinkin about it!  i will be seeing old friends i only get to see at CHA s well as meeting many folks i have been friends with in the crazy online stamping world for sometime.  pat huntoon of Technique Junkies fame will have a booth so i will see her and lisa summerville – both of whom have been a HUGE influence on my journey with rubber.  of course i will be meeting tons of cricut board folks – 32 of us for dinner saturday night plus a fun meet up at the Above Rubies Studio booth saturday morning.  i will also be spending some time with a couple gals from the poly clay yahoo group i am in over at the viva decor booth.  and of course Mary, stacey’s from spellbinders mom, whom i met several years ago and just ADORE.  diana crick from scor pal – another truly wonderful lady!  but boy do i have a lot to do before i leave!!  and i am already trying to prepare pezzy – she is NOT happy – and daddy too.  there is already lots of meals in the freezer 🙂  i have her set up for two playdates as well so daddy can get a breather.  he’ll need it!  i also get to see my dear friend susana from SCACD so i am happy about that!!  and speaking of SCACD – onto the good stuff!!

Suzanne gave us a wonderful challenge over on the SCACD blog for this week – alter an item and use Aurora – FUN!!! i decided it was the perfect time to make a name plaque for Hollyn’s new room:

the *theme* of the room is a garden tea party and OF COURSE Aurora is the perfect guest! i used Aurora with tulips:
along with her adorable friend Silly Pilly:
Hollyn Loves it! i stamped both images with memento, colored with copics and accented them with a bit of spica glitter pen – it is not showing in the pics but you can see it despite three coats of mod podge! i cut them both out using Labels 9 nestibilities and edged them with ink & a foam ink blending tool. after sealing it i added a flower skittle to the snail and a couple prima flowers with some cute little rosebuds on top that Susana just got in! these little rosebuds are sturdy and really perk up your primas!!
the lettering and die cuts are done with the ashlyn’s alphabet & paisley cricut cartridges:
 how seriously cute are they????
Silly Pilly is only available with the FULL sheet of Aurora images – they are all so cute it would be hard to narrow it down anyway!  Be sure to stop over at Susana’s Custom Art & Cards (SCACD) and check out all of the wonderful stamps and other products she has in stock!
i hope your week is off to a great start!!!
