christmas…yep, christmas card!

hello everyone!

i hope you are all having a wonderful morning – I am enjoying the ever crisper fall-ish morning we have been having here in northern VA.  oh winter how i love you!  ever since pezza broke my body thermometer during pregnancy i have struggled with always being way too hot.  which is funny because before that i always struggled with being way to cold…

Pezza is still doing well in school and even doing better at home – growing up perhaps?

I spent the afternoon in my newly designed studio playing yesterday – HEAVEN!  and yes i am SO lucky to have a designated spot so large all to myself!  i began by playing with some Pardo Polymer Clay and came up with some adorable little pumpkins for a swap I am in – check them out on Dotted Daisy.

i also did some coloring of course!

i just love the sweet little Fall Flora Fairies in the SCACD shop and i have Friendship Rose done up for Christmas today using the current sketch from my friend Melissa over on Tuesday Morning sketches.  I am also entering it in the following challenges:

Paperplay – Punches & Dies
Frosted Designs – Punches
Card Makin Mamas – Punches

Love that rose dress she is wearing!  I used some gorgeous glittery paper from Best Creations Merry Christmas collection (susana has them in the 6×6 size for us of course!)  I added one of my hand crocheted flowers on a layer of felt from Felt on the Fly with a glittered skittle in the center.  the top also has a few of my Holly printed skittles (i still sell the printed skittles in my store).  I also added my own pearl and glitter flourishes using Liquid Pearls Opal and Stickles Stardust.

I colored my image with Polycolor Colored Pencils.  I wanted to give her wings a bit of shimmer so i got a little Pearl Perfect Pearls and mixed it with water to create a thin paint which I painted on.  That is the thing i love about perfect pearls – it is so incredibly versatile AND has the binder built right in!

my baby Bubba Cat is ALWAYS where ever I am and when I finished work this morning here is where I found him:

REALLY!?!?!?  at first he was laying ON the card but i got it out from under him!  just LOOK at that incredible tail!  it is getting fluffier and fluffier.  Maine Coons don’t tend to be born looking as fluffy as they end up being as adults.  but my little man is fluffing up QUITE nicely!  Maine Coons are one of the greatest breeds of cat you could ever own – I am SO glad we got our little Bubba!

Susana is loading up the store with new goodies all the time – be sure to check back often!  The new Crafts Too folders are incredible!  the new 6×6 christmas pads are JUST the thing for all of those cards you’ll be making and there are new Kraftin’ Kimmies in stock too!

Twisted Thursday time!

hi all!

i have spent most of this week on my craft room re-organization.  WOW am i exhausted but it is really really nice!  not from a house beautiful perspective but from a functionality perspective – which is really what’s important and it is also a whole lot cheaper!  of course now i will have to get used to where i have put everything.  that usually takes me awhile 😛

i DID clear off a space to make a quick card in the middle of the mess for this week’s Twisted Thursday Challenge on The Outlawz challenge site.  This week is “fave technique” and i have so many it was tough to pick one.  BUT while cleaning up i came across a box i created awhile ago and knew what i wanted to do:

yes the card is super simple but with that background it still rocks!  i got it from the magazine Crafts ‘n Things – LOVE LOVE LOVE that mag!  and it is very simple to do.  simply smoosh your versamark pad onto your cardstock in a few random spots, cover with embossing powder and heat.  next, smoosh it a few more times in different spots and repeat with a different powder.  finally do it one more time in other areas with a third powder.  be sure to leave some of your cardstock uncovered.

i used powders from Stampendous’ Frantage collection which i recently reviewed for Craft Critique – these powders ROCK!  very unique!  i added a couple layers of felt from Felt On the Fly and a fall yoyo on some raffia and finished it off with a glittered skittle in the middle.  i will have a piece on the Clover yoyo makers and kanzashi flower makers on craft critique soon!

i hope you all have a fabulous weekend!

Say hello to…

a new SCACD artist – the amazing Sylvia Zet has created an adorable line of stamps EXCLUSIVELY for SCACD!  and today is release day so you can see them all and get your order in!

You should have arrived here from Judy’s wonderful blog.  if you stumbled into the hop on accident and want to start at the beginning then head over to Elaine’s amazing blog and get a look at the whole line up along the hop!

I have a card using Poppy:

LOOK at that little face!  and the ladybug just KILLS me – she is so cute!  The papers are from Authentique and I crocheted the beaded flower myself.

I colored her with colored pencils and then added lots of glittering highlights using my spica pens.

Now head over to Mary Johnson’s blog to see her fabulous creation!

Then head to SCACD to get your stamps!  For those of you overseas, head over to Quixotic Paperie to get your order in!

have a great weekend!

Time to twist your thursday!

hi everyone!

two days of school down and mostly successful!  her class is super small – only 6 kids – 2 of which were her faves last year.  Day 1 went perfectly.  day 2 had a hitch at the end though.  she kept asking to go wash her hands and after the third time the teacher told her no.  well she got hysterical  and the teacher had to call in some back up to remove her from the room until she calmed down.  i asked her why she kept having to wash her hands and she said she kept touching the bottom of her shoe on accident.  *sigh*  so i told her that when she washes her hands with antibacterial soap it will kill the germs on her hand for awhile afterward.  i don’t know if that’s true but i am hoping it cuts down on her freaking out-ness… of course i also told her to just not touch her shoes and then she would be ok…

i have been enjoying a bit of peaceful time in my craft room the last 2 days and today i have a card for the Twisted Thursday challenge over on The Outlawz – join in and you could win some really good prizes!  There is a new challenge every day!  The challenge today was to use punches or dies:

I started by cutting the card front (yellow bo bunny polka dot paper) using my damask decor cricut cartridge with the card  feature at 5.25″.  i LOVE the card fronts on this cartridge BUT i don’t use it to cut the card base because it is a waste of paper to do it that way.  But when you do the card front actually covers the whole card front – i wanted mine slightly smaller.  Next i cut two leaves and their shadows using the Layer 1 & 2 features – perfect and oh so easy matching embellies!  a little well placed Distressed Stickles dabbed on with my finger finished it up!

i think this image is so cute – Pezza found it in her toys when we were cleaning out 😛  i colored on a piece of iridescent cardstock in a variety pack from paper temptress – if you have not visited her you need to!  she has an amazing selection of papers!  I colored with colored pencils of course!

i hope y’all have a great day!

Twisted Thursday Challenge

hi all!

i hope you are having a great week so far as summer winds down.  hard to believe – it has gone so fast.  i know there are lots of moms posting on facebook how they are so sad school is starting again – NOT ME!!!  pezza is ALOT of baby let me tell ya!  for example, let me tell you about taking a shower the other day.  i always throw her in the tub, scrub her, and then leave her to play while i jump in the shower.  well our new little baby kitten Bubba Cat (yes that’s his name) has the typical Maine Coon fascination with water and he has to be in there with us now RIGHT on the side of the tub.  so while i am showering Pezza takes the kitten and dips him in the tub.  he comes flying out and sits on my bath mat looking at me like a drowned rat.  i hurry and finish so i can get out, i am putting my hair up in a towel, meanwhile Bubba Cat has moved on to playing in the toilet and FALLS IN (not the first time) so now he is even wetter than before.  as i am trying to dry off i see him start digging in our pile of dirty clothes like he is going to go to the bathroom so i grab him and run downstairs to the litter box – still wet and naked – and throw him in the CLUMPING litter.  he goes potty and jumps out and now has litter in large clumps hanging off of him.  so i grab him and head BACK upstairs so i can put him BACK in the tub and clean him off.  this stuff goes on all day long here – it’s NUTS!  needless to say i will be welcoming the 4 afternoons of peace a week!

believe it or not i still manage to get some crafting done along the way.  today’s project is for the Twisted Thursday (formerly Prisma & Other Mediums) challenge on the Outlawz site.  This week we were challenged to use ONLY a sentiment:

I used the Lori’s Garden cartridge.  Like most others i am having trouble getting my Imagine to stay calibrated so the cutting matches the printing 😦

I printed the image as layers and then put them together using foam tape for some dimension.  Pezza found the little charm while i was working on the card because she was digging through my stuff (see what i mean about the break) and i thought it would be a cute addition.  the polka dot paper is bo bunny of course.

i hope you will all head over to The Outlawz and join in on some of the challenges – there is a new one every day AND the prizes are fantastic!  You could get $50 GC to Oozak, $25 GC to SCACD, a package from paper temptress, gilli stamps and some digis from anne fenton – what do you have to lose!??!?

i will be back tomorrow with a fab Make It Crafty image available at SCACD!

POM with a FREE digi!

hi all!

we are heading out to tour Oatlands Plantation this morning.  i LOVE plantations and even worked as a tour guide at one in south louisiana called oak alley – yep full hoop skirts and all!  it was so much fun!  if you ever saw interview with a vampire then you have seen oak alley. i was working there during filming – pretty interesting.  i have toured many plantations in louisiana and mississippi and i am curious if they will be similar or different here in northern va.

today kicks off a new challenge in the Prisma and Other Mediums group on The Outlawz – we had to use fabric on our projects.

in addition i am submitting this to the following challenges:

Pile It On: down on the farm
SFYTT: sketch
Stamp Something: Digi Image
Make It Monday: Anything Goes

i added a fabric yoyo layered with felt as my embellishment – topped off with a glittered skittle.  yoyos are SUPER easy to make with the Clover Yoyo Makers – you can find them at joanns. you can get the BEST felt in the BIGGEST selection of colors on etsy from Felt On The Fly – love shopping there!

***speaking of Joanns – they have the BEST selection of halloween fabrics in right now***

isn’t this image just the best???  it was done by my DT sister over on the Outlawz POM team – anne fenton.  best of all – it is FREEEEEEEEEEEE.  that’s right – just click on her name and it will take you over to the Outlawz thread where you can see this image and all of her other amazing stuff.  i colored it with derwent coloursoft colored pencils.

and now a little kitten update – josephine, the momma cat, was adopted this past weekend – YAY!!!!  i am so happy for her.  she is such a sweet sweet baby.  as for our own newly adopted little guy he is just AWESOME.  of course i spoil him silly all day long so he can’t stand it if he is not in the same room as me.  he is so cute and so playful but not in a destructive way.  here he is in the top of one of the cat trees with Pezza:

now i better go get my day going!  i hope you all can join us at the Outlawz for fun challenges and fab prizes!!!!

Peeker peek for SCACD!

hi everyone!

anyone else feeling a bit tired of summer?  as bad as july has been i can’t even IMAGINE what august will be like YUCK!  you know it’s bad when it’s too hot to go swimming…pezza and i are going to try and go blackberry picking tomorrow but i think we will have to be thee when the farm opens so we can pick and get out!

i had dinner with my buddy Suzanne last night – always a good time.  she filled me on on her CHA antics and we hammered out the next couple issues of Through the Craft Room Door – halloween, thanksgiving and christmas!!!!  hard to think about in this weather!  do YOU have some projects for the holidays?  we would LOVE to see them to possibly include in the magazine – CLICK HERE to submit them!  as usual i stayed out entirely to late and came home thoroughly wiped out.

I am so excited to show you my project today – SCACD will be releasing the second set of the wildly popular Peekers by Elisabeth Bell – available ONLY at SCACD.  introducing Tushy Peeker:

i just love her!  the patterned paper is from the Echo Park Springtime paper pad – beautiful colors in that pad!  i made the flowers using Pardo Clay and the First Impressions molds – they make it so easy!  i like that i can make more than one of each shape all at once.  the scrolls are make it crafty chipboard painted with perfect pearls.  i also brushed the clay flowers with a bit of perfect pearls before baking them.  i embossed the border with the Cuttlebug All In One folder and border – i love this concept.

i colored little missy with Lyra Polycolor pencils.  she is so much fun to color up!

you will get to see ALL of the new Peekers AND order them tomorrow!!!  meanwhile be sure to leave a comment for a chance to win this stamp right here!

have a fabulous day everyone and i will see you back here tomorrow!
