as you read this i will be preparing to make my way home.  i spotted a composition in my son’s room and picked up a few weeks ago and he had only used the first few pages.  so i tore them out nd before i left i made this garden journal for my mom using one of the recently released sets from Artful INKables – In My Garden:

This set comes with a bunch of little coordinating stamps so it was easy to pull this together  i used Mod Podge to adhere the papers to the front and back cover and sanded the edges a bit with sandpaper for a smooth finished look.  i added a couple border punches and accented them with a Viva Decor Paper Pen.

i colored all of the images with Copics, cut them out with Nesties and edged them with my foam ink blending tool.  i think this entire set is just too stinkin’ CUTE!!!

thanks so much for visiting!!!

Suzanne gave us a fun challenge this week for Try It Out Tuesday over on the store blog for Susana’s Custom Art & Card designs – buttons! i LOVE buttons though i don’t use them often enough!

my paper is from basic grey Eva, available in the 6×6 pad which i LOVE – just enough, not too much! i added a border using an EK success border punch & then used several bronze buttons tied with scrappers floss. Once the card was complete i stamped several prima flourishes in a light colored ink – Versamagic Wheat – and then went over them with 2 viva decor pens – gold glitter and cream pearl – and made little pearls. my big bow is made with the super easy bow easy – works like a charm!

my image is from the wonderful elisabeth bell Sampler 3 collection – Heartstrings. i stamped her with memento black ink and colored her with copics. i think she is just the sweetest!
i hope you all go have a look at the rest of the Design Team projects over on the Store blog – they are jaw dropping!  i was just in awe as i looked at them! don’t forget to sign up for the SCACD new release blog candy both HERE and for a second chance on Victoria Case’s blog!  Then on Friday we will all be participating in the new release blog hop!

i have news :)

Want this badge?

my very good friend Susana owns a webstore called Susana’s Custom Art & Cards (SCACD).  we have always worked closely with each other and often negotiate so we do not have too much overlap in product offerings.  well recently she asked me to join in as a member of her design team!  so now i am *official*!!  SCACD offers a WIDE array of stamping goodies, fun embellishments and EXCLUSIVE stamp lines from the ever popular Victoria Case and Elisabeth Bell!  some SERIOUSLY cute stamps which will be making appearances on my blog here and there in the weeks to come.  she also carries stamps by herself, anki (a DT member), Karen Lockhart and a wide array of fairies from I Brake For Stamps and Fairie Song Art Stamps just to name a few.  so head on over there and browse around, get to know her store and rest assured that her customer service is TOP RATE which i really respect!  she is also just the very sweetest person and i am grateful to have her as a friend!

Susana and her team (headed by my good buddy Suzanne Dean) have a store blog you can check out here with LOTS of wonderful eye candy from her store by all of the DTs.  there is a weekly feature called Try It Out Tuesday (TIOT) where Suzanne issues everyone a challenge.  Well i couldn’t wait to jump right in!  our challenge was to use blues and ONE neutral or metallic – SWEEEET!  i love blue, especially this time of year!

i chose to work with one of my favorite Fairie Song Art fairies – *Would You Be My Friend* using blues and gold:

for some reason i just LOVE her solemn little face!  i used my friend Jen’s SFYTT sketch.  my two background panels are done with alcohol inks.  the top panel is ranger glossy paper and the bottom is metal duct tape.  both are embossed with cuttlebug folders.  the top piece also has some gold ink dragged over the embossing to highlight the snowflakes a bit but it would not stick to the metal tape below.  the snowflake embellie is done with the joys of the season cartridge and my cricut.  i added some Polar White Flower Soft above her head instead of leaving it as flowers which adds to the snow-look of the card.  i finished her off with a couple blue sparkling Pezabling.

i stamped my fairie with memento ink and colored her with copics.  Her wing are colored with just a bit of copics to add some shadows and then painted with my friend Molly’s incredible Creative Inspirations paints, also available from SCACD.  her dress is done the same way.  on her dress i shadowed a bit with blues and then painted on a CI color called Blue Ice – pure shimmer until the light hits it and then it has a beautiful blue sheen to it – very neat effect!  her eyes are a bright sparkling blue thanks to a Spica glitter pen.

IF YOU ARE NEW TO COPICS OR WANT TO START USING THEM BUT DON’T KNOW WHERE TO BEGIN susana has a PERFECT program for you.  SJD copic bundles are put together by Suzanne and they are small bundles of 3-4 markers that work perfectly together for blending along with detailed tutorials to achieve stunning colored images.  i wish that type of thing had been available back when i started collecting ages ago – would have saved me some money and frustration!

thanks so much for taking time out of your day to pay me a visit!  i appreciate you all so much!  tomorrow i will have something really fun to show you – i have a new favorite thing!

bday tea

well my day has certainly not gone as planned – i meant to have this post up this morning! i used this sketch from the high hopes blog and paired it with this adorable rachel anne miller stamp (anxiously awaiting my first high hopes stamps).

the sketch —->

and the card:

i colored the image with copics and accented with spica glitter pens.

i used lots of layers of bo bunny ella papers and edged everything with rose bud memento ink. the centers of the primas are puddles of glossy accents covered in seed beads.

be sure to stay tuned here – an exciting announcement coming on wednesday that you will NOT want to miss! also be sure and check out the blogs of the other DT girls and leave them some love!

mojo – just barely squeezin in….

nothing like the last minute right?? i played with this week’s mojo monday sketch->
using one of my brand new greeting farm images – fell in love the moment i saw them!
and i came up with this gift bag for kevin’s god-daughter – her party is this afternoon:

These are so way awesome to color because they are uncomplicated and just so adorable. i stamped her with memento black – if you don’t have any yet you need some! i have it on sale now in the shop – 15% off. i colored her with my copics and filled in the glittering parts with silver ice stickles -also 15% off- these have a much more sparkly, holographic appearance than regular stickles. i also added some to the striped paper. the sentoment is studio g and stamped in orchid brilliance pearlescent ink – another must have and also on sale right now – 25% off!

i must say pink and green is my fave color combo – pezzy’s room is pink and green toile – so i am really pleased with this one!

i’d love to hear what YOU think!!!!
i will be posting some winners to the two contests later today……and remember now is the time to stock up on stuff since i have most everything but pre-orders on sale!!

Flower Soft Tutorial I

As promised – the first of several Flower Soft tutorials!! flower soft is an almost spongy, sprinkly, brightly colored, light as a feather material that gives realistic look & texture to images. for my card i am using the current sketch from SCS ->

And here is my card:

this card was quick and easy to do yet doesn’t look like it 🙂 my kinda thing!! The paper is all SU, crocheted flower is handmade by me and the cool little square embellies have just a touch of pink shimmer! Notice the bead pop in the center of the flower of COURSE!

I chose to use this adorable new Karen Lockhart Stamp – Lilac In Pitcher – from my dear friend Susana’s store – i fell i love with it as soon as it was released and just new i had to have it!

I stamped on white cardstock from Papertrey Ink with Black Memento Dye Ink (one of the best to use with copics.) I only used 6 markers for this image – step 1 shows my first layer of darks (i work from dark to light – i know many people do the opposite…). For the flowers i used RV29 and the vase YG67 – this is an easy stamp because it has the shading sort of built in so i simply followed that. Step 2 i added the mid-tones – RV23 and YG63 and in the last picture i added RV21 and YG11 – color over the previous color you laid down with each lighter color. If you want brighter highlights you can lightly stroke some in with the blender marker or use the ranger inkssentials white gel pen.

And now time for some quick flower soft. I still have a limited supply of colors as it was hard to get for awhile. the larger pots are from last year which i received from Catherine for my birthday, the smaller ones are from a christmas kit i received from the UK and are similar to the container in the new boxed sets I will be carrying in the store.

I mixed the greens to use for the leaves and i mixed the red and pink to use for the flowers.

For now, because i have never had flower soft glue, i used glossy accents. however, after using the glue at the show (CHA) i am a firm convert and ordered extras! but just dab your glue where you want it on the flowers – no need to be to exact here and it is better if you DON’T just cover the entire image. i dabbed it sort of along where the light meets dark on each one.

Then just dump it on. YEP just like that. like glitter. you don’t even have to be neat about it.

i know “SHUT UP” right?

Shake off the excess:

Dump on a little extra fine MS glitter if you like:

next a few dots where there are leaves – no need to cover completely

Again just sprinkle on some green:

And here is your finished jug of flowers!!

I cut mine out with a nesties die and inked the edges.

i thoroughly enjoyed this quick and simple card – i REALLY want to hear what y’all think!
