Bliss layout

YAY the weekend!

anyone have anything exciting planned?  i will be heading to a sewing machine class – a freebie get to know your new machine type class.  i hope it is more than just the basic how to thread your machine – i want to know how to use all the crazy feet it came with!!!  while i am in that neck of the woods i am also going to hit the DC Big Flea – basically a big flea market at the Dulles Expo Center.  it’s been AGES since i got to stroll through some good flea market or antique shops.  not looking for anything just like to browse.  who knows what i might find or better yet what ideas i might come up with 🙂

Also on the agenda – start on pezza and i’s colossal winter cake with the cricut cake YIKES!  i want to see if 1. i can get better at using my cricut cake.  2. if i can make marshmallow fondant and it tastes good because fondant cakes are SO pretty and 3. can i make a cake with THREE FILLED tiers!  pezza has decided it will be blue and white with snowmen and snowflakes.  we have Luster Dust for shimmer, we have cans of colored spray mists – 2 different brands to try and we are ready to roll!!!!  ofc ourse it did cross my mind that after we do this we will have, well, THREE TIERS of cake – which i do not want to have to CONSUME.  so the goal is to have an open house help us eat cake  party next sunday and hop efolks show up!!!!  we will have one layer of french vanilla cake with peach filling, one layer of chocolate cake with white chocolate pudding filling and one layer of lemon cake with blueberry filling – again all pezza choices. YUM!

ok onto my project for today!  i have been trying to do more scrapbook layouts – i am WAY behind!  these are pictures from my mom’s house when Pezza and i went for a visit in October for her buddy Brett’s birthday:

and a close up of each page:

i think the pictures are really cute of pezza helping my mom with yard work using her own little wheelbarrow.  i had this scalloped page from My Mind’s Eye and LOVED the pattern and the colors so i built the rest of my page around that.  in almost everything i design i start with my patterned paper first and match my colors from there.  i cut a part out of the middle so the scallops did not cover the entire 12″ of the page.  the polka dot paper is Bo Bunny – i SO wish i had some in EVERY SINGLE color! t he pink border is a martha stewart punch.

I dug these stamps out of my Staging area – that’s a collection of stamps i have not used yet but need to – i am pretty sure they are from Great Impressions…aren’t they the cutest!?!?   The title piece and little flower clusters are done with my Cricut and are from the Bloom cartridge.  this cartridge is a LITE cartridge and has LOADS of adorable things on it.  i accented the largest flower cluster and title with cute tiny buttons.

The thing i really love about the cricut as opposed to manual die cutters (like sizzix) is that i can cut each image ANY SIZE i want.   so i have the three matching flower clusters but each a different size 🙂  this adorable little image is by Sarah Kay – i just love her stuff and they have always reminded me of  pezza.  i have been trying out Cryogen paper at the urging of my buddy suzanne and tried to capture the subtle sparkle it has but the camera just couldn’t get it.  i think i do like it though!  again i used buttons to accent the little flowers on the fence.  i just love that fence cut!

and now i am off to get my day started!  i will be stopping at two Michaels on my way to sewing class to check for clearance carts for a friend in australia!

have a great weekend!

now i have another fun MEOW project for ya!  First i will apologize to all my non-cat loving readers!

he heee!  i think this is just too cute and fun!  i got the wood base and letters from AC Moore.

i painted them with these AMAZING paints from Viva Decor called Precious Metal Colour Varnish.  This stuff is awesome!  it is VERY shimmery and metallic, has vibrant colors, and great coverage yet with a degree of transparency that is sort of hard to explain.  I did not need ANY type of basecoat for my wood – a step i LOVE to skip!!  i just brushed the Precious Metal color on with one of those cheapie foam brushes – i have LOADS.

the neat thing is that while the coverage is vibrant and complete you can still discern the wood grain pattern AND the gold shimmery-ness sort of settled into and follows that pattern.  i am QUITE pleased with the look!  Once dry i covered the letter with various pieces of paper from the Max & Whiskers collection by Basic Grey.  It is easy to cover wood pieces.  Cut your paper to size so it covers the wood piece – in this case i cut 3″ squares.  spread a layer of Mod Podge on the wood piece – not too thick so it doesn’t ooze out of the sides but be sure it goes all the way to the sides.  Lay your paper over it and flatten down.  Once dry just use sandpaper along the edges to remove the excess.  for teeny spaces i use the CTMH set of Finishing Files for 5.95.  a nail file also works well for this – the cheaper and coarser the better!  Next i edge the pieces with a foam ink blending tool and distress inks.

i cut the little designs with the Cricut Lite Meow cartridge of course!  this cart has so many fun images to play with!!  it will look cute sitting next to the frame i made a few days ago!

having played so much with this one cartridge i just kow how much i am going to love the other ones!!

i hope your week has gotten off the a GREAT start!

i DO have more fun things to show y’all from the Meow Cricut Lite Cartridge so today i wanted to show you a LO i did:

i had printed these pictures out before ProveCraft sent me the Meow cartridge but as soon as i saw it and the “like herding cats” phrase i knew i would be using it for these pics.  these are pics of pez, our friend’s across the street who are 3 & 5, and our next door neighbor who is 6.  coraling them when we get together is often like herding cats!

I wanted the cuts to have more of a fun, whimsical look rather than realistic so i chose these bright papers from K&Co & doodled on some stitching like stuffed animal cats…

this cartridge does NOT have a shadow feature which i am SO used to using.  so instead i set the top layer off center slightly on the base layer which gave a bit of a shadow effect peaking out on two sides.  the faux stitching further sets it apart.

here is the last kitty – aren’t these just two CUTE!  i really love this cart more & more the more i play with it!

now if only i can be patient and wait for the rest to arrive at one of the walmarts by me – i think ours will be closer to the July 1 release date *sob*

i will have another project up for you tomorrow plus a pezza way video (i think i have created a monster!)

see ya monday!
