Time to twist your thursday!

hi everyone!

two days of school down and mostly successful!  her class is super small – only 6 kids – 2 of which were her faves last year.  Day 1 went perfectly.  day 2 had a hitch at the end though.  she kept asking to go wash her hands and after the third time the teacher told her no.  well she got hysterical  and the teacher had to call in some back up to remove her from the room until she calmed down.  i asked her why she kept having to wash her hands and she said she kept touching the bottom of her shoe on accident.  *sigh*  so i told her that when she washes her hands with antibacterial soap it will kill the germs on her hand for awhile afterward.  i don’t know if that’s true but i am hoping it cuts down on her freaking out-ness… of course i also told her to just not touch her shoes and then she would be ok…

i have been enjoying a bit of peaceful time in my craft room the last 2 days and today i have a card for the Twisted Thursday challenge over on The Outlawz – join in and you could win some really good prizes!  There is a new challenge every day!  The challenge today was to use punches or dies:

I started by cutting the card front (yellow bo bunny polka dot paper) using my damask decor cricut cartridge with the card  feature at 5.25″.  i LOVE the card fronts on this cartridge BUT i don’t use it to cut the card base because it is a waste of paper to do it that way.  But when you do the card front actually covers the whole card front – i wanted mine slightly smaller.  Next i cut two leaves and their shadows using the Layer 1 & 2 features – perfect and oh so easy matching embellies!  a little well placed Distressed Stickles dabbed on with my finger finished it up!

i think this image is so cute – Pezza found it in her toys when we were cleaning out 😛  i colored on a piece of iridescent cardstock in a variety pack from paper temptress – if you have not visited her you need to!  she has an amazing selection of papers!  I colored with colored pencils of course!

i hope y’all have a great day!

it’s twisted thursday time at the Outlawz!

hi everyone!

wow i have been AWFUL about blogging on a frequent basis like i used to BUT i have also been busier than usual at home with day to day home life.  crossing my fingers that will improve once pezza is back in preschool again.  you know i have been reading all the back to school posts on facebook and the folks who are so sad to see their kids going back to school and they will miss them…apparently their kids are not completely insane like mine is!  me?  i need the break.  SHE needs the break AND the change of scenery…and hubby and i will pray she keeps her teeth to herself this year.  we have been attending a weekly therapy playgroup this summer that focuses on children learning how to behave with one another.  of course she has been adorable and perfect in there and the therapists think i’m nuts.  *sigh*

now onto my project for the Twisted Thursday challenge over on The Outlawz Challenge site.

This weeks challenge is Anything Goes…with a optional twist.
The twist is to use one of the digi stamps that our very own Anne has drawn just for this challenge.  Thank you Anne!!  You can find these digis on the challenge thread – just click the link above in purple!

If you are new to our challenges, let us give you a quick explanation: We were originally POM which was short for Primsa’s and Other Mediums. Other Mediums can be anything from dye inks, distress inks, chalks, heat embossing, water colored pencils, crayons, etc. Basically anything except for alcohol ink markers such as Copics and Promarkers. Prisma’s can be ANY colored pencil, it doesn’t have to be the Prisma color brand. With the name change to Twisted Thursday, we added a twist to the challenge! You are allowed to have 50 percent alcohol inks on your images!! We are hoping this will make the challenge a little bit easier for you! Have fun! the prizes are fabulous so be sure to enter!

i used Anne’s Corner Leaves image along with my Cricut Thanksgiving cartridge:

i colored the leaves with colored pencils and then cut them out.  the leaves were fun to do – i sort of used them as a study and tried a couple different techniques and several different color combinations.

i have been working in overdrive on projects for the next issue of Through the Craft Room Door – we will be focusing on halloween and fall in general.  i am excited about the projects we will be featuring!  here is a little hint for ya – next time you are in target you will want to pick up a few of these – specifically the clear, orange, green and/or red:

and you may want to get a matching hand towel while you’re at it!  and now i am off to finish things up – the new issue will be hitting inboxes soon so if you are not already a subscriber now is the time!  you can catch this fun issue as well as our bonus holiday issue due out in mid october!

now off to dive into my to-do list!

Twisted Thursday Challenge

hi all!

i hope you are having a great week so far as summer winds down.  hard to believe – it has gone so fast.  i know there are lots of moms posting on facebook how they are so sad school is starting again – NOT ME!!!  pezza is ALOT of baby let me tell ya!  for example, let me tell you about taking a shower the other day.  i always throw her in the tub, scrub her, and then leave her to play while i jump in the shower.  well our new little baby kitten Bubba Cat (yes that’s his name) has the typical Maine Coon fascination with water and he has to be in there with us now RIGHT on the side of the tub.  so while i am showering Pezza takes the kitten and dips him in the tub.  he comes flying out and sits on my bath mat looking at me like a drowned rat.  i hurry and finish so i can get out, i am putting my hair up in a towel, meanwhile Bubba Cat has moved on to playing in the toilet and FALLS IN (not the first time) so now he is even wetter than before.  as i am trying to dry off i see him start digging in our pile of dirty clothes like he is going to go to the bathroom so i grab him and run downstairs to the litter box – still wet and naked – and throw him in the CLUMPING litter.  he goes potty and jumps out and now has litter in large clumps hanging off of him.  so i grab him and head BACK upstairs so i can put him BACK in the tub and clean him off.  this stuff goes on all day long here – it’s NUTS!  needless to say i will be welcoming the 4 afternoons of peace a week!

believe it or not i still manage to get some crafting done along the way.  today’s project is for the Twisted Thursday (formerly Prisma & Other Mediums) challenge on the Outlawz site.  This week we were challenged to use ONLY a sentiment:

I used the Lori’s Garden cartridge.  Like most others i am having trouble getting my Imagine to stay calibrated so the cutting matches the printing 😦

I printed the image as layers and then put them together using foam tape for some dimension.  Pezza found the little charm while i was working on the card because she was digging through my stuff (see what i mean about the break) and i thought it would be a cute addition.  the polka dot paper is bo bunny of course.

i hope you will all head over to The Outlawz and join in on some of the challenges – there is a new one every day AND the prizes are fantastic!  You could get $50 GC to Oozak, $25 GC to SCACD, a package from paper temptress, gilli stamps and some digis from anne fenton – what do you have to lose!??!?

i will be back tomorrow with a fab Make It Crafty image available at SCACD!

POM with a FREE digi!

hi all!

we are heading out to tour Oatlands Plantation this morning.  i LOVE plantations and even worked as a tour guide at one in south louisiana called oak alley – yep full hoop skirts and all!  it was so much fun!  if you ever saw interview with a vampire then you have seen oak alley. i was working there during filming – pretty interesting.  i have toured many plantations in louisiana and mississippi and i am curious if they will be similar or different here in northern va.

today kicks off a new challenge in the Prisma and Other Mediums group on The Outlawz – we had to use fabric on our projects.

in addition i am submitting this to the following challenges:

Pile It On: down on the farm
SFYTT: sketch
Stamp Something: Digi Image
Make It Monday: Anything Goes

i added a fabric yoyo layered with felt as my embellishment – topped off with a glittered skittle.  yoyos are SUPER easy to make with the Clover Yoyo Makers – you can find them at joanns. you can get the BEST felt in the BIGGEST selection of colors on etsy from Felt On The Fly – love shopping there!

***speaking of Joanns – they have the BEST selection of halloween fabrics in right now***

isn’t this image just the best???  it was done by my DT sister over on the Outlawz POM team – anne fenton.  best of all – it is FREEEEEEEEEEEE.  that’s right – just click on her name and it will take you over to the Outlawz thread where you can see this image and all of her other amazing stuff.  i colored it with derwent coloursoft colored pencils.

and now a little kitten update – josephine, the momma cat, was adopted this past weekend – YAY!!!!  i am so happy for her.  she is such a sweet sweet baby.  as for our own newly adopted little guy he is just AWESOME.  of course i spoil him silly all day long so he can’t stand it if he is not in the same room as me.  he is so cute and so playful but not in a destructive way.  here he is in the top of one of the cat trees with Pezza:

now i better go get my day going!  i hope you all can join us at the Outlawz for fun challenges and fab prizes!!!!

Join the challenge over at Through the Craft Room Door – We have another amazing challenge for you and it’s

I Ribbon, 2 Patterned Papers, 3 Buttons

For this challenge we have Guylou’s Inimitability as our sponsor. Thank you Guylou!

Another awesome challenge to check out is the Prisma & Other Mediums (POM) challenge on The Outlawz.  this is a SUPER challenge for folks who don’t use copics as well as those who do but like to play around with other stuff too!  the challenge this week is a bit of Christmas in July – Winter Glitter.

i just opened my newest cricut cartridge – Sweet Tooth boxes.

this is a smaller content cartridge with a much smaller price tag!  there are a variety of really cute gift boxes and lids as well as inserts meant to hold cupcakes but i thought they would also be perfect for holding a glittered ornament.

the lid is cut using Best Creations Glitter Paper – fab in the cricut.

The image is a digi by meljen from whimsy stamps.  i colored with polychromos and prisma pencils.  creating the goldtone like the bell is one of the lessons in Colored Pencil 2 Class over on Color Me Creative.  the holly was hanging out on my table and i have no idea where it came from.  the flourish is a Make it Crafty laser cut chipboard piece from Flower Leaf Swirls painted with Viva Decor Precious Metal Paint.

I cut the box, lid and insert at the sizes suggested in the handbook – which is the largest i could go on 12×12 paper.  the ornament fit perfectly.  (Note to self:  on future boxes, check the BACK of paper since you will see it on the inside of the box…).

here it is empty:

i have so many ideas for embellishing all of these little boxes – i want to make them all!

and last but not least – a pic of the babies:

Lil' Gingersnap

does it get any cuter???

please remember to spread the word and share the link for my fundraiser and then head over to The Outlawz and Through the Craft Room Door to join in the challenges and win some prizes!

POM: gift card holder challenge!

hi all!

well i made it through surgery, though it was a bit rougher than i expected.  i only had local anesthesia and i can get grossed out so easily.  i fainted once when one of the boys lost a tooth.  so i kept nearly passing out/low blood sugar/ plummeting blood pressure – SO much fun.  ended up with 8 stitches and an incision far longer than i had any idea it would be.  however, the doc and nurses were AWESOME!  the doc even called me at home last night to check on me and his cell phone number was on the aftercare paperwork for emergencies.  i even managed to change my bandage myself without passing out this morning.  however i am working on one nice black eye and it itches something awful.  but if i rub it at all it hurts.  BUT i am cancer free, truly not a big deal.  i am just a big wuss!

several newsies to cover before getting into project goodness:

Cricut E2 giveaway/fundraiser – please help me spread the word so i can reach my fundraising goal for Lost Dog & Cat Rescue!

I am trying to narrow down which dollhouse I will be building for a charity auction on the Dotted Daisy blog – i have gotten it down to TWO choices from Real Good Toys – turns out they sponsor charity stuff and offered to become involved with my efforts YAY!!!!  so head over to Dotted Daisy after you are done here and cast your vote!

Today a new POM challenge kicks off on The Outlawz – Gift Card Holders.  The prizes up for grabs are REALLY good – $50 gift certificate to Oozak PLUS a $25 gift certificate to SCACD – how can you pass that up?!?!?!?

i don’t make these nearly enough.  here is mine:

please excuse the xmas gift card – it was the only one i had on hand 😛  I cut the pieces using the Fabulous Finds Cricut Cartridge – an oldie but definitely a MUST HAVE.  I cut the tab file/holder at 4″ with the window.  then i cut a piece from some plastic packaging i had and put it in the window cut out.  Next I cut out the insert piece and attached the gift card to the back with a couple mini glue dots.  Next i cut out the bookplate/tag design.  i cut the insert piece from my PTI cardstock and then stamped and colored (Polycolor pencils).  The cherry on top is a dab of Liquid Pearls.  I used double sided paper for this so my project would look good from all sides.  A couple of glittered skittles make excellent little accents on the bookplate.

Head over to Dotted Daisy to vote for a house and then show us your fave gift card holder design on The Outlawz!

Outlawz POM: Bag & Tag challenge

yay monday…not!

i hope everyone had a good weekend.  ours was super busy!  we bought a toy hauler camper trailer last weekend and kevin went to pick it up saturday.  then we went over it to get to know it and list out what we needed & wanted to get it all set up for camping next weekend.  then sunday i got a 3 hour break and was home ALL ALONE!  forgot how much i can get done when i am all alone!  i did a bunch of work on our dollhouse (after  pulling a bunch apart – you can keep up with dollhouse stuff on my new blog Dotted Daisy Designs).  i also got some projects done that are due this week – yay for being ahead!  then we took our trailer out to west VA where it will be stored (not allowed to keep it in our neighborhood).  After that i went straight to petsmart with Josephine (Momma Cat) & Berlioz for the Sunday kitten adoption event.  we thought we had a family for Berlioz BUT i did not know they won’t allow a cat under 6 months to be adopted by itself – they have to go in pairs.  which is a great rule because it is better for the cats AND the owners that way.  perhaps in 2 weeks i will be able to bring little Gingersnap in too and they will get to stay together.  her stitches have to heal first.  anyway, no one was adopted so we still have all three.

TTCRD Magazine Challenge – We kicked off a new challengeon July 1 – Fairy tale theme projects and the prize is a $10 gift certificate to Michelle Perkett studios!

SCACD has all of her 6×6 paper pads on sale until the end of today so hurry over there if you want to stock up at a great price!

And today’s project is for the POM challenge on The Outlawz.  The challenge starts every Thursday and this week we were challenged to make a bag and tag set.  you saw my tag yesterday – here is the rest!

my image is from SCACD and it is a Crafty Individuals stamp called lilys.  I used a Technique Junkies technique called Non-Stick Color and i LOVE the effect! the crafty individuals stamps are perfect for this technique.  the embellie a is Make It Crafty Die Cut flourish with Viva Decor Crystal Gel molded flower. The tag is cut using the Preserves Cricut cartridge.

and now i am off to get some errands done – got to get the camper stocked up.  i am really hoping for some good sales on summer stuff like beach towels and dishes and such.
