OCCC: harvest time

blog tag

This week’s challenge over at Our Creative Corner is an inspiration challenge – Harvest Time.  i was just thinking yesterday I can’t believe it’s AUGUST!  While i do LOVE my happy spring and summer colors I AM ready to change gears and get a start on my holiday crafting!  Here is the card I made for OCCC:

OCCC

I am IN LOVE with the Rustic DCWV pad – and i am not a hardcore DCWV girl but this one – every page is gorgeous.  i created my main panel with a simple polished stone alcohol ink technique using ginger, peach bellini and salmon with a little copper mixative – those new AI colors make a world of difference!  although this is a card now i am contemplating turning it into a title piece for a thanksgiving LO of my family – whadda ya think?

so who else is ready to start on some harvest inspired crafting??

Sweet Dreamers bloggers challenge 2: recycling

blog tag

The second challenge issued by the Sweet Dreamers blog group i am in over on SCS was to recycle – something i am getting better at but still need work!  i have tons to do getting ready for our big stamp release tomorrow!  so today’s card is super quick n easy!

SD recycling

where’s my recycling?  my *ghost shape swirls* – i cut them from one of the plastic cases that my spellbinders dies came in.  think of it – we get this plastic stuff by the tons – everything is packaged in it these days!  so far i have cut it with sizzix original dies and in my cricut with a regular blade – tho the deep cut would probably be better.  After cutitng i inked it up quickly with some alcohol inks and that’s it!  my main image is inked with brilliance pearlescent inks so it has lots of shimmer.  this stuff is also great for making masks – run it thru a zyron with repositionable adhesive in it and you have a free mask – YAY!!

Want some more great ideas on re-using stuff in your papercrafting?  check out my my Sweet Dreamer sisters have come up with – you can find links to their blogs on the bottom of the right hand column.

now back to work!

STUDIO G CHALLENGE – current sketch challenge ends on sunday morning so come join in!!!

Today’s project covers TWO challenges AND  a new technique video from over on stamp TV that Gina K put up recently!  the technique is really neat though subtle so it was hard to get a photo that did it justice. you start with a piece of alcoho ink polished stone paper – basic alcohol ink application.  use ranger glossy paper and 2-3 colors of alcohol ink with a metallic mixative, dab randomly over paper, add blending solution to your felt piece and dab again.

Next take a stamp that you would normally color in, stamp onto your polished stone using versamark, emboss with black.  finally color in all or part of your image carefully with bleach – some colors bleach out and others don’t so you get a very interesting effect.

The OCC Challenge is to use border punches – how easy is that??  and the CAS19 challenge was a sketch.

and now the project:

Get well set

Get well set

So far the set includes a card, tea bag folder, gift tag, cough drops and a soothing vapor plug in.  i also ordered some eucalyptus handmade bath items that are just gorgeous from RachelRene on etsy and will add those when they arrive.  I URGE you to go check out this shop as she has some GREAT stuff!  Be sure and tell her i sent you over!  BTW etsy is THE greatest place to shop i swear!  if you don’t shop there regularly you really should!

I am trying to get some gift sets together to keep on hand too – would be SO much easier – i have been perusing etsy and picking up things i see here and there and everything is just SO top notch!  i am hoping by the time the holiday season rolls around i will have NOTHING i need to do!

what are your favorite gift set ideas or items??  i would REALLY love to hear some thoughts and ideas for all occasions!!

hugs

M
