Challenge Blogs Blog Hop take 2

Good morning!  well we were hoping for some sun today so we could all take off to the farm or a park or something but no such luck – so instead we are heading into town and i convinced hubby we need to stop at Cold Stone Creamery for some ice cream cupcakes.  my neighbor has been telling me about them for weeks and says they are TO DIE FOR!!

i have another project for the Challenge Blogs Blog Hop today!  This one incorporates 2 challenges:

1. Creative Twist – Down n Dirty: LO involving getting dirty

2. Practical Scrapper – Use diecuts: any die cuts, any type of machine.

I really got excited when i read the Down N Dirty challenge because i JUST took a bunch of pictures of Pezzy where she was a FILTHY FILTHY mess from head to toe:

here they are 1 page at a time for a better look:

Daddy built her a playset which she ADORES.  She spent about a week covering it with chalk – WET chalk – because chalk works so much better wet.  Of course in the process she also ended up covering HERSELF in a nice coating of chalk with some dirt mixed in!

i used a Page Maps sketch (as always) and some adorable Prima papers i picked up at my LSS.  My die cuts are the lettering which i did on my cricut and the felt die cuts which i purchased at asecinc on Etsy (etsy is THE VERY best place to go for fun and unique embellies!)  now could i have made them myself – OF COURSE but frankly i run out of time and plus i love to help out a fellow crafter!  as a finishing touch i added several of my skittle bugs and then a row of bright green Pezabling acrylic squares across the bottom.  AGAIN pretty simplified but HEY at least i am gettin a LITTLE crafty!!!  here are some close ups of the cute little skittle bugs:

and now i am off for some ice cream!  i do hope y’all take some time to check out the Blogs on the Challenge Blog Hop – they are really wonderful  and all were new to me so maybe they are new to you too!

SFYTT: another itty bitty betty!!

Well i thought (hoped) we were done with the heat & humidity but yesterday was icky sticky at my house!  i have the fabulous chest tightness and coughing that always comes at the tail end of being sick for me.  but hey it means my head is clear and i can think straight – just not doing a lot of MOVING hahahhah!  i am thinking it might be a good day to get some work done digi style – i am hoping to do some photo calendars as christmas gifts this year.  i have some great 8 1/2 x 11 digi templates so i just need to organize the last years worth of photos……..EEK!  how COULD i be so far behind????  pezzy is also sounding a bit stuffy this morning 😦  i am thinking i can design the whole page photos and all and then print off on photo paper and finish off with my BIA.  now paula SHHHHH don’t tell my dad so at least he will be surprised!  paula is my fabby step mom and the only family member who keeps up with my blog! hee heeee

ok onto the real reason you’re here – i DO have another card for you….

sfytt091909For today’s card i used my friend Jen’s SFYTT from Saturday – she comes up with the best stuff dontcha know!  i used the other PCS digi i got – the cards are similar because i just used what was already out on the table from the first card (i know lazy but i’m SICK! hahahhaha!)

HOW cute are those frogs bailing out of the cauldron!!!  ROTFL!  I printed this one out much smaller which i LIKE being able to do with digis.  i cut out a spider web from the paper dolls cricut cartridge using shimmery vellum and then added several of my exclusive skittle spiders and more pezabling from the Spooky Mix!

SFYTT close up

Here’s a close up of the action!  i used Creative Inspirations shimmer paint on the fire after i colored with copics and also on the moon and the hat brim.  i wasn’t able to really capture it here but in real life it is the PERFECT haloween-ish touch.  (man i love the holidys – you can really lay on the glitz for the holidays if ya want to!)  i also added glossy accents to the frog eyes and the cauldron.

well off to lounge on the couch with my poor stuffy baby!  i realize i need to pick the winner from mondays giveaway but i think that might not happen til tomorrow – feel free to sneak an entry in if you haven’t already 😛  sorry folks!!

SC247 Itty Bitty Betty Witchy Poo

Well crawling out of the sick-o stupor a bit today – it has moved down from my heaad and throat to my throat and chest.  FABulous!  but at least it means my brain is in somewhat working order.  so far only 1 of the 3 insurance adjusters has made an appearance – lame. so i suppose i will be chasing them down tomorrow – i tell ya knee deep in fun over my way folks! but i DID get a little crafty this morning!!!

have you SEEN the new Pink Cat Studio Digi site?????  SUHweeeeeeeet!!!  MAIN reason i like digis – usually cheaper!  PCS is not a whole lot cheaper BUT you get to pick each character – sometimes in groups i like 2 of the 4 images or something but i have to buy them all ya know!

SC247anywho i narrowed down my choices to 2 and i used todays sketch over on SCS.  it worked out just perfect for the adorable little Itty Bitty Betty in her Witch Costume:

I didn’t get too fancy with this one as i am still reeling a bit from being sick but i still think it turned out cute!  the stripe paper is VERY shimmery – i just love it.  it is by reminisce but i have no idea if it is current or old….the purple panel is SEI velvet which i just LOVE using on anything *cool weather* like halloween, fall, christmas…..i just had to add the little froggy – one of my all time fave cuts from y paper dolls cricut cartridge – a great one for halloween stuff.

SC247 close up

i colored IBB with copics. her purple hatband is colored in with Creative Inspirations Shimmer paints.  i added some Glossy Accents to the frog’s eyes and her pumpkin bucket and boy it really adds to the image – my buddy suzanne does it all the time and i usually forget.

i also couldn’t resist giving her an extra little friend – one of my exclusive skittle spiders – love those little eyeballs!  they crack me up EVERY time!

i wanted to give a quick close up of the Pezabling i added in various places around the card – these all come from the Spooky Mix and made for the perfect little extra!

and now i am going to attempt to actually make some dinner – i haven’t cooked in like THREE days! EGADS!

i sure hope i wake up feeling even a little more well tomorrow!!

have a stampy evening!

Quick quick post!  BARELY in time to show y’all my card for this week’s Tues AM challenge.  Melissa threw in a color challenge this week to see if we were paying attention!  The colors are certainly celery, elegant eggplant and kraft (or equivalents):

tues am sketches

I realyl designed this card around the crocheted border, pansy and leaf.  i did them to show someone in the All Things Tim group I am in and was really pleased with them and wanted to use them.  i thought bees and a bee hive would be perfect with them!  i wanted it a bit on the vintage-y side so i distressed all of my edges with my tim holtz edge distresser and then smudged on antique linen ink first and then vintage photo along just the edges.  i always use the ranger foam ink blending tool – it is easiest and gives the best, smoothest results. i  finished off with some of the brand new Dusty Lavender Pezablilng acrylic squares, along with one large pepermint one.  of course the bees are my very own skittle bees – these things seem to fly outta here as fast as i can get them in!

tues am sketches close up bee hive

i colored my little hive with only gray prisma pencils and then initially painted on Mellow Yellow Creative Inspirations paint for some knock out shimmer.  initially i had planned on posting this card this morning but didn’t get finished with shipping before we left for the Farmer’s Market and some lunch.  Well i was so glad I waited because when we got home i had a box of new paints from Molly!!!  i ripped that sucker open and spread them all out on the table – oh the shimmery delicious colors MY WORD ya’ll!!!  and among them a gorgeous bee-hive-perfect color called Sunshine!  so I quickly recolored the hive and then also added a smidge of Amethyst on the little sign over the doorway.  Then Pezzy and I just opened pots and dipped our fingertips into the paint on the lid and smeared them on scratch paper to see the colors!  i’ll need to make an actual swatch card later.  i took a TON of pics wanting to capture the shimmer just right but the paints are just SO DYNAMIC.  the bees’ wings are painted with Winter Frost.  Molly’s website is up and running and taking orders if you want to check them out for yourself!

i finished off with some of the new Distress Stickles – Shabby Shutters and Dusty Concord – on the corners of the main image and the card base.

i hope everyone is having a WONDERFUL weekend!  I hear cooler weather is headed my way and i am SO ready for a taste of that!

hi everyone!I am typing this up at 3:45 am listening to the sounds of Pezzy cavorting in her bed and hoping she is not up for the day but she probably is!  AND she did not fall asleep until after 10!  *sigh* thank god for coffee…..

my project for today features my little skittlebugs – it is a set of notecards using the sketch for CAS25 (Clean and Simple) over on SCS:

CAS25 card 5

CAS25 card 4

CAS25 card 3

CAS25 card 2

CAS25 card1

i used my cricut for the diecuts, a couple of clay embellies i made and did a little experimenting with my ribbons.  well no time for chit chat as Pezzy is now banging on her bedroom door to get out….

do your skittles like to play dress up??

i had alot of fun at Angela’s Happy Stamper – if you live in the northern VA area you really should check out her shop – it is fabulous!!! i met and chatted with some wonderful ladies and i was so happy to meet them all.

it had been awhile since i had pulled out my skittle bugs and i realized i did not have any skittle bug samples left. so i whipped up this little cutie: The bluish purple piece was a fun little scrap i made from leftovers after my alcohol ink get together. i was clening up and my craft mat had a dried pool of alcohol inks from my demo. now here is what is so cool about alcohol inks – i decided rather than wipe it up why not see if i could play in it a bit more. the puddle was a bit too heavy on the silver so i added a few more drops of color – stream, cool peri and stonewashed and then a heavy dose of blending solution which woke the puddle of inks from the night before right up! i grabbed a bunch of nearby scraps of ranger’s glossy paper and swirled them face down in the puddle and made some great pieces!

here is a close up of the skittle bugs. these little *doodled* stamps are sized to fit skittles perfectly whaich are hand colored and hand decorated by me for each of the bugs in the set. the bee in the center has the skittle bottle (don’t be confused – skitlte sare not dew drops – dew drops will not be sized correctly. run out of bug skittles? the stamps can be simply stamped and colored or you can use a drop of dimensional pearls and draw the details on yourself like the background bee and the snail.

Other skittle bugs include a ladybug, dragonfly, caterpillar, bat and spider – perhaps they will come out to play too!
