CAS63: Simple butterfly

happy monday! (is that an oxymoron??)

i am sick as a DOG today!  hit me like a ton of bricks yesterday afternoon.  WAHH!  i don’t do sick well – just don’t have time!  **sigh**

SO wanna know what can make you feel REALLY old (other than your 40th bday staring you in the face) – i was browsing etsy as i tend to do and i was looking for some vintage stuff.  what pops up in my search…??? these:

Vintage CORNING WARE 10 CUP Cornflower Blue Stovetop COFFEE POT with LID

both of which were alive, kickin’ and even TRENDY at my house during my childhood.

as if that wasn’t bad enough i see these:

which were the dishes i had in my first apartment

and then these….

Sale - Lot of Vintage Tupperware - Sugar Creamer Small and Large Tumblers - Harvest Gold

which were in use at my ex-husband’s parents’ home while we were dating in high school.

ACK!!!!!!!!!!!!!  so does that mean i am vintage????  somehow i thought of vintage as being older…at least older then ME!!!!

ahhh who else remembers the good old days of harvest gold and avocado green…???

i have a great quickie little project for this morning – it has been AGES since i participated in a challenge over at SCS – shameful!  so what better way to get bck into the swing of things than to do today’s Clean & Simple challenge?  it was a sketch based on someone’s card and here is what i came up with:

my colors are taken from the gorgeous new Basic Grey Kioshi collection – susana has the 6×6 pads – SO PERFECT for getting one of each KWIM??  i cut the border from a kioshi piece with a new ek success punch.  i used two Prima Tiny Tots flowers and then stamped the Lockhart Plaid Butterfly with Versamark and embossed him with milled lavendar distress embossing powder (33% off in my store right no).  finished it off with a few of my exclusive pezabling glittering acrylic squares.

i am off to gargle with salt water.  LOTS of posting for tomorrow – i have TIOT AND the artful INKables blog hop!

CAS57: Bright Friendship

oh my GAAWWWD has our weather been nice!  and i SO needed it!  i LOVE gardening and i have not been able to do much of it since having pezzy, especially in the front yard as she is a runner – run in the road, run off down the sidewalk.  i DID get some gardens started in the back last year but not much.  SO after THREE seasons of total neglect other than the bare minimum spring cut backs i finally get to do some work!  so yesterday we all got out there and cleaned up all the beds and the yard, cut back some trees, picked up random trash, etc.  and WOW do i have some digging up and separating to do!  i started the gardens when we moved here 5 years ago from itty bitty plants i got at the BEST garden place on earth – Bluestone Perennials – GREAT prices, amazing customer service and a HUGE slection of plants!  well those itty bitty teen weeny plants have REALLY flourished and i need to get in there and do some dividing so i can plant in my back beds – gotta love free plants right?  they have a butterfly garden package pezzy and i are hoping to install in the back yard below one side of the deck.

it felt AMAZING to be out in the yard and feeling like there is hope for spring to arrive after all of our snow and bitter cold!  in fact the snow is ALMOST melted!!!!

Head over to the store blog for Susana’s Custom Art & Cards – she is offering up some amazing blog candy to celebrate the next Victoria Case release happening on Friday with another fun blog hop!

SO i mentioned hubby & i went out to dinner saturday night right – it was an hour wait for a table BUT so nice to be off together with no children.  while we were getting ready Pezzy did her first dress-up in momma’s clothes:

she is holding na old pool toy she has grown bizarrly attached to.  and NO her socks do not match – she REFUSES to wear matching socks.  ahhhh i remember the days when i fit into that cute little skirt……doubt i will see those days again – my hips will NEVER be the same post Pezzy!

is she a total ham OR WHAT???

but enough about all that – i DO have a project for you!  i have been TOTALLY absent from my SCS gallery since before CHA!  ACK – i used to participate in several of the challenges every week!  so i got up this morning and checked the Clean & Simple challenge.

The CAS challenge was to layer 2 different shapes.  i used 2 different nesties:

i LOVE this super happy K&Co pad i found on a recent rare trip out to AC Moore!  my main image is a CTMH stamp and i used a light coating of Creative Inspirations paints to stamp with so it has loads of shimmer.  in fact it was difficult to get a non-blinding pic!  i sponged the paint around the edge with a sponge dabber too.  i TOTALLY copied the ribbon treatment from lazylizard’s entry.  and of COURSE those perfect little pearl drops are Viva Decor Pearl Pen!

well i have lots of shipping to get out the door this morning so i better scoot.  Pezzy is going to playschool at a different community center next fall so this afternoon she is going to a class at the new one to start getting used to it.  i hope to get some videos filmed for the newsletter website!

hope your week is off to a GREAT start!!!

CAS19 & OCCC: double duty get well gift set!

FREE SHIPPING – on orders of $50 or more – only 3 days left!

STUDIO G CHALLENGE – current sketch challenge ends on sunday morning so come join in!!!

Today’s project covers TWO challenges AND  a new technique video from over on stamp TV that Gina K put up recently!  the technique is really neat though subtle so it was hard to get a photo that did it justice. you start with a piece of alcoho ink polished stone paper – basic alcohol ink application.  use ranger glossy paper and 2-3 colors of alcohol ink with a metallic mixative, dab randomly over paper, add blending solution to your felt piece and dab again.

Next take a stamp that you would normally color in, stamp onto your polished stone using versamark, emboss with black.  finally color in all or part of your image carefully with bleach – some colors bleach out and others don’t so you get a very interesting effect.

The OCC Challenge is to use border punches – how easy is that??  and the CAS19 challenge was a sketch.

and now the project:

Get well set

Get well set

So far the set includes a card, tea bag folder, gift tag, cough drops and a soothing vapor plug in.  i also ordered some eucalyptus handmade bath items that are just gorgeous from RachelRene on etsy and will add those when they arrive.  I URGE you to go check out this shop as she has some GREAT stuff!  Be sure and tell her i sent you over!  BTW etsy is THE greatest place to shop i swear!  if you don’t shop there regularly you really should!

I am trying to get some gift sets together to keep on hand too – would be SO much easier – i have been perusing etsy and picking up things i see here and there and everything is just SO top notch!  i am hoping by the time the holiday season rolls around i will have NOTHING i need to do!

what are your favorite gift set ideas or items??  i would REALLY love to hear some thoughts and ideas for all occasions!!

CAS4 new challenge on SCS for Angela’s Happy Stamper

have you seen the new challenge over at SCS??? i was unable to participate until now but I needed something “Clean and Simple” for the make n take I am hosting at Angela’s Happy Stamper in Reston so the timing was perfect! Here is what we will be making to launch my stamp line in Angela’s Store next Tuesday the 17th:

i decided to make an Easter Treat Bag and a Birthday Goody bag using multiple sets from Polkadot Pie. These projects really give a feel for the versatility of the line. Both toppers are cut with my nesties and folded in half.

For the Easter treats i used the little bows from the Sprinkled Background 1 – I stamped with Versamark and then dusted them with Sunflower Sparkle perfect pearls and gave them a LIGHT mist with water to set them. next I stamped one of the randomly with one of the mini hearts from Loveys with Pezzy in memento rosebud and the little flower image from Chocolate Treats 2 in memento lulu lavender. NOW for the dots for CAS4 – fruit punch stickles randomly in remaining open spaces. attach a big bright prima from Angela’s with a custom skittle in the center – FUN!

The second treat bag just shows yet another option with the Polkadot Pie stamps. For this one i stamped the swirls from the Sprinkled Backgrounds 1 set using Memento Danube Blue. Next I stamped the tiny cupcake image from Chocolate Treats 1 randomly using memento Ladybug and Dandelion and then added stickle dots with red and yellow. Instead of a prima i wanted a little boy look so i stamped the larger cupcake from the same set and cut it out with my nesties. i stamped it a second time on the blue polkadot paper and cut the cupcake paper portion out. i colored the cupcake with copics, attached the cupcake paper and then did the swirl with yellow stickles. i edged the scallops with more blue danube ink.

here is a loser look at both of them.

if you happen to live in the Northern VA area I really hope you stop by for some fun and chatting over at Angela’s on Tuesday – she has an INCREDIBLE shop and i did quite a bit of shopping while there!!

and now i am off to my super fun CTMH scrapping club at my friend Cori’s. and then CLEAN UP time for my alcohol inky party tomorrow!
