my post today is for try it out tuesday over on the SCACD blog.  i am a bit late with it because i wanted to use the SCS color challenge too so susana sked me to post thursday instead.  i am glad she let me wait as i just LOVED the color combo on SCS!  Old Olive, Barely Banana and Ballet Blue.

In addition I also entered it in the following challenges:

Cuttlebug Spot – Flowers
Creative Card Crew – April Showers bring May Flowers

Suzanne gave us DTs a GREAT sketch to work with this week and here is mine:
I started with this cute little stripey paper from the Kaisercraft – Pack Your Bags 6×6 paper pad. i used a cuttlebug folder from the Asian bundle for the two angeled panels. for the embellishments i decided to do little paper quilling to match the image (check out the goodies available from Lake City Craft – great products i must say!) the blue flower has a little drop of Viva Decor Gloss Gel.

My image is Little Danni with Flutterby by Victoria Case. I stamped with Memento Black ink and colored her with Copics. Her eyes and the blue band on her dress are done with a spica glitter pen. She is cut out with the spellbinders label 11 nestibilities.
i hope you all have a fabulous day!  it’s housework day for me today – oh my poor hubby – he hasn’t said a word but the place is a disaster!  hhahhaha!
i will see you here tomorrow for the NEW ELISABETH BELLs for SCACD – it’s blog hop time!

hi everyone!

i wanted to pop in with a quick post to let you know tht Susana’s Custom Art & Card Design (SCACD) is open again after Susana’ s much needed vacation!

our challenge from Suzanne was to create an easter or spring gift so here is a lil’ something i did for Pez to give to my mom for easter with another of the adorbale Victoria Case stamps exclusive to Susana’s Store:

Isn’t she too sweet?!?!  i distressed my edges with my tim holtz tool.  the strips are done with alcohol inks from the Lights Collection – i LOVE the new options I have since the Brights & Lights came out.  My little eggs are cut with the Easter mini cartridge for the Cricut.  Before cutting i took out a white piece of paper, a few small pieces of natural sea sponge and several Creative Inspirations Paints.  i had a sponge for each color paint i was using.  i dipped the sponge into the paint, dabbed a few times on my craft sheet so i wouldn’t have a big glob, and then dabbed it over my paper to create a shimmering mottled pattern.  i did two colors on one piece of paper and two colors on another – then cut an egg from each.  next i free handed the lines using Viva Decor Cream Pearl Pen and also added Pearl Pen to the flower center and used it for the 3 pearls along the top edge.  the purple Prima rose bud is sititng on a crocheted circle i did myself.

i stamped Little Aud with memento black ink and colored her with Copics.  I used the Spellbinders Labels 10 to cut out the image and then edged it with brown ink using the ranger foam ink blending tool.  i gve the bunnies little tail a bit of white poof with liquid applique – love that stuff!

Susana lso has a bunch of new stuff in the store – Zva Creative, NEW basic grey (and they are GOOD), copic multiliners and Our Craft Lounge Stamps!

Be sure to check in here tomorrow – i will have some adorable pics and some studio G news!

and YES i have my TIOT project for you today too!
Suzanne’s Challenge for us this week really had me stumped for a bit – use one of the new Victoria Case stamps for a movie inspired project. Then it came to me – i really LOVE the Little Carolyn in the flowery swing and she would be perfect playing in……

The Secret Garden! i LOVE gardening and am very excited to see spring coming.

In addition i used the following challenges:

Pagemaps March sketches
Pile It On – Pastels
Cupcake Craft – Going Green
Ooh La La – Anything Goes
Paper Cutz – Anything Goes
Secret Crafter – Anything Goes
Lots To Do – Distressing
Pollycraft – Distressing
Rosie D’s – Think Spring
La La Land Crafts – Pastels
Creative Card Crew – Celebration
Cute Card Thursday – Celebration

and here she is:

I thought these patterned papers from Basic Grey’s Lilly Kate paper pad worked perfectly for a secret garden. I have really been using that pad up – it has wonderful colors and patterns! Susana just got the newest ones in – Green and Kioshi along with the coordinating paper doillie ribbons and glazed brads – really beautiful.

i stamped my main image with memento black ink of course and colored her with copics. i colored the flowers on her dress and swing ropes with spica glitter pens and then added some of the fantastic new super fine flower soft in Raspberry Fizz along the vines on the rope. (you can get all 8 for the price of 7 right now – good deal!) i cut the cute little tree branch with the bird using my cricut and then highlighted the leaves with Glass Effects Gel by Viva Decor. i brushed just a bit of distress ink in Vistorian Velvet (one of my new fave colors) on my white prima flower and stamped my sentiment with a tiny studio G stamp.

I hope you have a fantastic week!  Be sure and head over to the SCACD store blog to see what movies the other girls chose!

Today is a new release of super cuties by Victoria Case over at Susana’s Custom Art & Card Design (SCACD)!  It is time for the Victoria Case Spring Collection!  wanna know the best part?  she named them all after us DTs!!!!!  and this one i am introducing is Little Marti!!!  she’s COOOOOOOOOOKING!!!  HAHHAHHAHA!

as soon as i saw her i KNEW she would be PERFECT on a LO of me N Pezzy’s baking escapades – so i did some pics of our first fondant cake you saw on here last weekend:

I stamped my image with memento black ink & colored her with copics

in addition, this LO is packed with other fun stuff to tell you about too!  i used a Page Maps sketch for my LO – love those SO much!  i did a double punched border (Martha Stewart punch) on each of the green pieces and then accented them with these really cool diamond drops and tiny droplets of Pink Glass Effects Gel

I used Modeling Grass for the accents along the edge of the page  (this is one of the tutorials available in the newsleter – Through the Craft Room Door.)

Beneath the modeling grass pieces is a shimmering embossed strip i did using Creative Inspirations Paints – a video tutorial is at the end of this post so you can do it too!

finally my title is cricut of course and run through my cuttlebug swiss dots embossing folder.

WHEW – anyone still with me!?!?!?!  your next stop on the hop is my fellow DT Heather-If you stumbled into the hop on accident and want to go back to the beginning then go see my fellow DT Aud!

this week Suzanne offered up a color challenge and the results are stunning i must say!  Be sure to head over to the SCACD store blog after reading my post to see wht the others created – AMAZING!! we were to use aqua, coral and cream and here is my result:

I think this color combo is just dreamy! i used a patterned paper from Lily Kate by Basic Greywhich is available at SCACD in 6×6 pads – my FAVE way to buy patterned paper! this pad is GORGEOUS – pastel shades of lavender, green, yellow, aqua – a perfect pad for upcoming spring projects! Susana also got these adorable little Prima mini roses in and they are JUST the thing to perk up the centers of my older style prima flowers. These are nice and sturdy too so they don’t smoosh up and get mis-shapen. i used a corner punch to ccentute the corner of my main image panel and topped that with a two layer bow made with my trusty bow easy and another rose in the center.

My card incorporates 3 other challenges in addition to TIOT:

Tues. Morning sketches (from last week not today)

Practical Scrappers – Glitter & Bling

ABC challenge – L is for layering

My main image is done with the oh so shimmery Creative Inspirations paints:

The stamp is Forever Friends by Victoria Case and i think these little guys are just the CUTEST! now i know some folks out there are WIZARDS with paint & watercolors. i, however, am NOT. but i LOVE paint & watercolors 😛 SO i thought i would do a little mini tutorial to show you how i achieve some depth & contrast in my images when painting with CI paints.

Click on the picture for a larger view of the steps. First you will wnt to use wtercolor paper – i don’t get naything over the top – just pad from Michaels will do. Stamp your image with Versamark and emboss with black embossing powder – this helps keep the paint from spreading out of the lines 🙂 Choose paint colors on the lighter side and then get matching darker colored prisma pencils. Step 1 shows my pic with just the paint – i used a waterbrush and watered it down a bit so the color was somewhat pale. Then use your prisma pencil to add shading where you want a darker shadow in your image. in pic 2 you can see where i added darker red in the red areas and also where i added some darker aqua where i was painting aqua paint. I wanted to give you a good idea where i put the shading but it DOES NOT MATTER if you do the pencil before or after the painting – using the pancil over the paint does not affect the shimmer. the bottom 2 pics show the image (left) with just the paint on the leaves and bug bodies and then (right) with some shading added with prisma pencils. the shading is subtle but it DOES make a difference in the overall feel of your image.
i hope you all have a fun and exciting day today!!
