Think Ink: An artful recipe challenge

blog tag

The challenge over on the Think Ink blog is a recipe challenge this go ’round – 3 buttons, 2 ribbons, 1 circle:

i LOVE pink and green together and the patterned paper from Basic Grey’s new Green At Heart collection is just beautiful!  I used a flower striped piece as well as a green piece.  The pinks are stampin up.  i also just had to use one of my new Martha punches – isn’t it fab!  it is one of those punch around the page ones which i LOVE when scrapping.  The perfect little round green pearls are one of the new colors of Pearl Pen by Viva Decor – Kiwi – YUMMY!

My sweet little imge is a new set I just got from Artful INKables called Greek Gardens (not new to the store just new to me!)  I decided to paper piece the two jugs with the same patterned papers.  i always love the look just never think to do it!  i colored the leaves and dirt with copics.  i finished it off by *gilding* the handle a bit with a gold spica pen.

in addition to think ink my card covers two challenges:

Sketch For You To Try from Jen
Practical Scrappers – Punches
now head on over to the Think Ink blog and check out some other cards for inspiration!

i hope you all have a wonderful day!!!

Another ARTFUL challenge with Think Ink

happy wednesday!  today is grocery day for us.  gotta love super walmart!  we are going to try and take off super early so pezzy can go to a little afternoon fun class at the community center and i can get some more work done.  she will only go if i call it daycare 😛  yesterday she-who-never-sleeps was coloring and she looks up and says mom i have decided i don’t want to grow anymore.  so i am thinking okkkkkkkkkk this could go in a number of bizarre directions…….and then she says SO you don’t have to put me to bed anymore so that i can grow while i sleep and then i can just stay awake all the time!  YIKES.  so i told her that was not an option….

i have an Artful INKables card for ya today for the latest Think Ink challenge

it is a GOOD one too – you have to use paint chips.  now this was no new idea to me – i hd collected a PILE of them way back when i first got my cricut several years ago.  and there they sat in the sticker bucket (which i never touch) going totally unused.  but seriously they are SO good to use and heck they are FREE!!!!!  so i dug out the pile along with my beautiful Fanciful Flowers stamp set by artful inkables.

i kept to a very Clean & Simple design – which i find quite easy to do though i hear a lot of folks say they are the hardest……:

My LO is from Page Maps and i knew it would be perfect for what i had in mind.  when i picked up the paint chips i made sure to get the LARGER swatches so i would have more room to work.  I stamped the rosebud on each of the three graduated colors and cut them out.  then i stamped the sentiment on a green paint chip and cut it out with the deckled rectangle Nesties.

One thing i noticed – the paint chips are somewhat slick so my first try with Memento Dye ink did not dry.  i wiped them off with a bit of stamp cleaner and then re-stamped with Brilliance which is a pigment ink and heat dried it with my heat gun.  this worked much better.  i gave each rose square a gorgeous little Pezabling square in one of the new colors – Green Ash (there are 7 new colors) and i thought it was just the right touch to finish it off.  i resisted the urge to do more as i felt the card really did stand on it’s own just like it is – what do YOU think?

if there had been time i would have done  second one where i cut a design from each swatch with my cricut and used the same layout but maybe another day!

if you have not already i urge you to run over to Artful INKables and check out the stamps – seriously adorable stuff!

walmart here we come!
