Have YOU submitted to the magazine sketch challenge????

hello everyone!!!!!!

i have to be honest i am not sure how i am still functioning – oh my GOODNESS i have been working so much lately YIKES!  with no end in sight at this point ACK!  but i am immensely proud of all of the things i have been working on – the magazine (Through the Craft Room Door), my first colored pencil class, clearing out and marking down my inventory so i can move on from the store and get it closed down as well as getting the Digi portion of Pezadoodle going.  I am doing some work for another site later this week and am very excited about the project – should be fun!!!  and of course life doesn’t stop and wait while you are busy!!!

In case you haven’t already figured it out i will tell you a little pezza story to show you what a day with her is like.  we were getting ready for school – running late as i ALWAYS am.  So i am trying to put her hair in a little ponytail to get the bangs out of her eyes.  and she is being COMPLETELY uncooperative.  so i am trying to explain she will be able to see better, it keeps her hair out of her paint (only partially true since she has come home with paint on the BACK of her head…more than once…), etc.  trying desperately to convince her the pony tail will be a good idea.  finally she says MOM i don’t like ponies and i am NOT having a pony tail!  so i stop for a second and i say ok fine how about a snake tail (remembering i had used this analogy once before).  she says oh sure i love snakes, stops moving and lets me put the ponytail in.  SHEESH!  and it is like this with EVERYTHING!  it’s like being in a puzzle game with no escape HAHAHHAHAH!

today i am showing you a little something i made using the current TTCRD magazine sketch challenge sketch from Suzanne:

This is a super sketch to work with!  remember you can use the sketch for anything – it does not have to be a card.  we love the clean and simple cards, we love over the top, and EVERYTHING in between!

All you need to do to submit your project is email it in to us at craftdoor {at} Yahoo {dot} com.  remember to put “Sketch Call” in your subject line so it ends up in the correct folder and we don’t miss it!  We need pics that are at least 300dpi (don’t reduce them in size or they cannot be used in the magazine), white or neutral background and include a list of supplies used and your blog address for us.  Your submission item cannot have appeared on your blog or message boards prior to submission.  remember everyone chosen to appear in the magazine will be put in a drawing for a prize!  This includes submissions for storage and organization, tips and tricks & questions for us to answer!

So what did i make?  (I don’t know, i have to go get the pic first😛 – this is what happens when you work too much and rarely sleep – brain cells start leaving!)

OH YES this awesome gift bag!!!!!  hahhahah!  ok seriously, this is a recent fave of mine because i did something on a whim that is wildly dee – LISH!  ok so i LOOSELY followed the sketch but that is fine!  the sketch is a jumping off point.  I used the wonderful glittery Let’s Party papers from Best Creations.  Rather than using Nesties i cut my shapes using the Lacey Labels Cricut cartridge – the turquoise shadow layer is actually done on the Imagine from white paper using the RGB code for Tempting Turquoise – the paper used as the base for everything.  so let’s check that cupcake out…

I cut it out using my Cricut Imagine and again did the color matching for the cupcake wrapper.

but check out that frosting!  here let me get you closer…

Oh yea baby it has sprinkles!!!  not JUST frosting but frosting with sprinkles!!!

so how did i do it?  so freakin easy!  i cut it out with the Cricut first.  then i took my Mother of Pearl Viva Decor Modeling Cream and *frosted*.  WHILE IT IS FRESH AND WET sprinkle on some microbeads and then set it aside to dry – LOVE IT!!!!

what do you guys think?????

so who else likes sketches?  i rarely do anything without them anymore!  Do you find them easy or difficult?  do you tend to follow them exactly or do you usually end up with something totally different?  do you find them hard to interpret or figure out?  i would love to hear from you all!

now go get those submissions in!!!!  our themes are travel, parent’s, graduation and 3D items!

have a great day!

I like to use sketches, but I usually end up forgetting something & it doesn’t quite match. I have a graduation card to make & I’ll try to use the sketch this weekend.
