little strips of paper….

HOORAY – the mag is off to the publisher – and hopefully WITHOUT the painfully slow mailing!!!  I am SO PROUD of this issue!!

This is straight from the incredible susana over at SCACD:

Walking on Sunshine – BLOG CANDY
Starts April 25th California time

so i finally got to play with my quilling stuff (also referred to s paper filagree)!  we featured a quilling artist in our first issue of Through the Craft Room Door and i just fell in love with her work!  i have had it on the outskirts of my radar for a couple years but just felt a little overwhelmed.  apparently it has been on ALOT of radars lately – Provo Craft is coming out with some quilling dies for the Cuttlebug,  CardMaker had numerous quilling cards and articles in their most recent issue and i have been seeing it pop up on blogs too.  After doing the quilling article with Clare Buswell I was ready to jump in.  and i am glad i did!

these are the bits n pieces i made with pezzy while we were watching a movie.  she did some red ones herself even – i twirled and she made the tear drop shape.

my card is inspired by the following challenges:

Papertake weekly – Sketch
Frosted Designs – Use Masks
Daring Cardmakers – Die Cuts
Our Creative Corner – Blossoms

and here is my first run:

**squeal** – is it bad that i am totally pleased with myself????

my patterned paper is K&Co and the centers are Spellbinders of course.  before i took them out of the dies i used my foam blending tool to ink them.

my papers are all papertrey ink – i find their colors to be brighter than SU and have been using them more & more.  The light blue is their newest color – hawaiian shores.

i used a new MS border punch and then gave the border and center some teeny pearl accents with Viva Decor pearl pen in Cream.

ALL of my quilling supplies are from Lake City Craft Co. in nixa MO which i find funny – i used to live right near nixa – but i wasn’t into papercrafting back then.  They have kits and supplies and i am finding them to be very good quality.  i bought the beginners kit, a critter kit and then a bunch of packs of their quilling paper.  i think one of my fears was cutting all that paper but NOPE.  the packs of pre-cut paper are not expensive at all and you get a TON of strips.  Wanna see?

how about seeing up CLOSE???  that’s right – for everyone who is still with me and reading i have a whole shebang of quilling goodies from Lake City Craft for one random winner – all you need is a quilling tool and glue!  just leave me a comment before i wake up wednesday morning!

The tool i use is the slotted one.  the glue that came in the starter kit i got is not labeled but it is a fairly thin very quick drying white glue that dries clear.

and now we are off to the library nd post office!

i hope your week is off to a great start!

better blog siggy
