CAS63: Simple butterfly

happy monday! (is that an oxymoron??)

i am sick as a DOG today!  hit me like a ton of bricks yesterday afternoon.  WAHH!  i don’t do sick well – just don’t have time!  **sigh**

SO wanna know what can make you feel REALLY old (other than your 40th bday staring you in the face) – i was browsing etsy as i tend to do and i was looking for some vintage stuff.  what pops up in my search…??? these:

VINTAGE CORELLE LIVINGWARE SET OF FOUR HOOK HANDLE COFFEE MUG TEA CUPS

and…

Vintage CORNING WARE 10 CUP Cornflower Blue Stovetop COFFEE POT with LID

both of which were alive, kickin’ and even TRENDY at my house during my childhood.

as if that wasn’t bad enough i see these:

Vintage Mugs OCTIME-BLACK by ARCOROC

which were the dishes i had in my first apartment

and then these….

Sale - Lot of Vintage Tupperware - Sugar Creamer Small and Large Tumblers - Harvest Gold

which were in use at my ex-husband’s parents’ home while we were dating in high school.

ACK!!!!!!!!!!!!!  so does that mean i am vintage????  somehow i thought of vintage as being older…at least older then ME!!!!

ahhh who else remembers the good old days of harvest gold and avocado green…???

i have a great quickie little project for this morning – it has been AGES since i participated in a challenge over at SCS – shameful!  so what better way to get bck into the swing of things than to do today’s Clean & Simple challenge?  it was a sketch based on someone’s card and here is what i came up with:

my colors are taken from the gorgeous new Basic Grey Kioshi collection – susana has the 6×6 pads – SO PERFECT for getting one of each KWIM??  i cut the border from a kioshi piece with a new ek success punch.  i used two Prima Tiny Tots flowers and then stamped the Lockhart Plaid Butterfly with Versamark and embossed him with milled lavendar distress embossing powder (33% off in my store right no).  finished it off with a few of my exclusive pezabling glittering acrylic squares.

i am off to gargle with salt water.  LOTS of posting for tomorrow – i have TIOT AND the artful INKables blog hop!

hugs

better blog siggy

  1. Marti,

LOL! I guess I’m vintage right along with you! Sadly, I do remember the days of avocado green, harvest gold, and what was the orange called?! I remember those dishes, and especially that set with the matching tumblers and pitchers!! I love to look at that stuff on the Internet—-brings back happy memories! But then you are reminded that it is considered vintage…aaaccckkkk!!! Thanks for the pics and the laughs!

  2. My parents had that EXACT pattern of dishes with the green flowers when I was growing up (I’m now 27). I totally forgot about that until I saw your picture here. Wow.

And while I didn’t live in a home with those vintage colors growing up….3 years ago we bought a house with an avocado green bathroom (tub & toilet included) and what I’d consider a dusty rose (pink) bathroom….and mirrored-wall kitchen. Yikes!

  3. Oh Marti….what I wouldn’t give to even be forty again..Live for the moment Dear Heart ! I go way beyond the nostalga there where all our dishes were pottery colors..Blue, Green, Orange etc…….Wow and party phone lines. Lol…don’t get me started !
Hope you feel better and are able to have a wonderful day ! Hugs

  4. Oh, Marti! So sorry you are sick!!! I grew up with those colors, too!!! Our kitchen was avocado green and harvest gold appliances!!! YUCK!!! But I’m much older than you!!! And, like Diana said, we had a party line, too. And I wouldn’t mind being 40 again, either!! Actually, my 40’s were some of the best times of my life!!! Hoping and praying you feel MUCH better soon!!! After all, who’s gonna keep up with the wonder tot if you are sick???? haha
    Hugs!

  5. First, you are not that old. I am looking at mid 40’s soon. I remember the avocado green dishes that matched the appliances my parents had. I hope you feel better soon. Cute card!
