Super fun mini album!!

well…….it’s snowing……again………..expecting 10″ – 14″ more…..i want to be chipper & excited for you i really do……but i am TIRED!!!  you know being snowed in might be ok…alone…HAHAHHAHA!  trev doesn’t know this yet but he WILL be taking his sister up the road to the sledding hill come thursday morning when it has finally stopped snowing……

i have several things i wanted to cover for all of my customers and local friends:

New Product release dates:

i WILL NOT be stocking all of the new stuff coming out as i am trying to lighten my load where the store is concerned to free up time for doing more playing and more teaching.  HOWEVER, i know lots of folks want to know when it will come out plus I ran a few special order opportunities and i wanted to post a shipping schedule for those folks.  you can find all product/store info on the store tab at the top of my blog.

i am hoping to do the majority of my teaching through the Loudoun County Community Center system.  I will also be doing special classes at other locations as requested.  I have several in the works – 2 Tim Holtz styled classes and a beginners class.  In addition, today’s project will also be offered as a class.  All of this info can be found on the class tab at the top of my blog.  The classes will be easily accessable by folks in the northern VA, southern MD & eastern WV panhandle areas.  For those who have been to my free demo workshop I will be putting together some advanced tech workshops for you too once I work out how they will be structured.  they will no longer be free but you will leave with enough products to repeat what you have learned when you go home.

Studio G:

I am slowly getting the reference gallery up to date.  i have some sets in stock but they are dwindling fast!  The most recent sets – Easter and Summer – will not be in my store as I was not told of them before they sold out – SO SORRY!  (I am not happy about it!)

Mnay have asked about the studio G challenge – I have not been doing it due to lack of participation & interest.  SO if you want me to bring it back then leave a comment and let me know!

I have all orders slated for pick up today IF the mail actually runs today – So sorry for the delays!

and now for the fun stuff!!!!!!
i have had very little playtime with all the shoveling and playing outside we have done but i did finish up a mini album i have been working on!!

blog tag

so i picked up a PILE of these adorable little mini chipboard albums in the $1 bins at Michaels.  i have a variety of shapes but i really thought the purse shape would make a great class album so i started with that one:

the best part of this little cutie is it fits 28 pics – mostly wallet size even!!!!  how did i do it?  cricut of course!

there are 5 *pages* in the book.  The papers are all Bo Bunny – i used an oldie but goodie – the Ella Collection – a gorgeous mix of yellow, red, pink, & green.  I also included some Bo Bunny double dot and SU cardstock in green galore, green gable, yoyo yellow, regal rose & real red.  all of the flowers are Bo Bunny too.

The base pieces of the album are easy to cover – i always use mod podge for this type of thing.  the album is 6″ x 6″ so i cut a piece of paper 6 x 6 for each side of each piece and adhered it with mod podge.  then i used sandpaper and a nail file and simply sanded the excess off in a downward only motion – you get a perfect edge every time.  i also edged each piece with ink – either memento ladybug or cottage ivy – using the foam ink blending tool.

for the cover i cut the butterfly and wording from the home accents cartridge.  i layered several flowers and then added a yellow glittered skittle in the center.  i added a row of rhinestones along the top edge.

Now how do you fit 28 pics in a mini album?  i ordered an older cartridge with my reward points from provocraft – Fabulous Finds – and let me tell you it is FABULOUS.  one of the things it is loaded with – mini album type cuts as well as hinges and tabs.  i took a class awhile back from angela’s happy stamper and learned some great ideas for adding pics using paper hinges and i coupled that with a few mini albums.  i inked all my cuts first and am now wishing i had cuttlebugged some of them too so keep that in mind!  this post will be pic heavy but will include all of the cut info for those who want to do this too!

Page 1:

This page has a slide out piece in a pocket.  a wallet size photo can fit on each side of the yellow card and a photo could even be placed on the green piece under the yellow card.  This cut is from Fab Finds – *crdhldr 2* – and is cut at 4.5″ along with the matching insert.  i finished off with a layered flower and rhinestone center and some pezabling along the side.

Page 2 has an opening flap.  i cut the tab & hinge from Fab Finds.  the tab is *tab9* cut at 3/4″ and the hinge is *hinge2* cut on blackout at 2.5″.  i finished off with some Bo Bunny double dot ribbon, a glittered skittle and some liquid pearls.  3 nearly wallet size photos cn fit on this page.

this page uses both an opening flap AND a cut from Fab Finds.  the double pic piece is from Fab Finds – *bookplate1* cut t 1.5″ with the windows feature plus the corresponding shadow feature cut.  the hinge on the flap is also Fab Finds *hinge4* at 3/4″.  4 pics can fit on this page – 2 minis and 2 slightly larger ones.  The stamp is studio G of course!  i finished off with a few Bo Bunny buttons tied with waxed thread.

I used a cut from Walk In My Garden for the flap on this one – it is the *smile* cut using the card feature.  The tab is cut from Fab Finds – *tab1* plus the corresponding insert cut at 1″.  i found a studio G stamp that went perfectly with the patterned paper and stamped it on the insert piece.  the tab is attached with 2 mini brads.  i traced *smile* with ruby liquid pearls and finished off with a few glittered skittles.  This page fits 1 mini pic nd 1 wallet size pic.

This page uses *flipalbum2* from Fab Finds – a GREAT way to get a bunch of pics on one mini page!  I cut it at 3″ and TWO inserts.  you can cut more to fit even more pics!  i put eyelets on the ribbon holes for reinforcement.  the edge of the flap is dotted with yellow stickles and i used a studio g stamp in the window.  finished it all off with some pezabling and a Bo Bunny flower with a Bo Bunny button tied with waxed thread in the center.  this page will fit 4 wallet size pics.

This is one of my fave pages!  i used Tags, Bags, Boxes & More for the opening tag piece – I cut *rndtop2* at 3″ using the mirror feature.  i cut the tab off of the front flap nd put an eyelet in the hole on the back tab for reinforcement.  The two hinges are *hinge3* cut at 3/4″ and i used glittered skittles on the holes.  The flap piece is just 2 squares attached together with a brad.  the bottom edge of the top flat is cut with decorative edge scissors.  i added liquid pearls to highlight the scallops.  the last piece is *bookplate8* cut from Fab Finds t 3/4″ using the shadow feature plus the corresponding insert piece.  the stamp is a studio G again.  This page fits 2 wallet size pics plus 1 mini pic.

this last page is a simple flap piece, i used a MS edge punch along the bottom of the top flap.  the hinge is *hinge2* from Fab Finds cut at 1.5″ and accented again with glittered skittles.  his page fits 2 wallet size pics.

This last page features this really great album cut from Fab Finds called *trialbm2* cut at 3″ along with the corresponding inserts.  Each little flap opens to reveal more pics!  again i reinforced the ribbon holes with eyelets.  i added a rhinestone flourish and some Bo Bunny flowers with a Bo Bunny button tied with waxed thread in the center.  his page fits 4 pics plus 2 mini pics!

he back of the album just has a rhinestone flourish and more Bo Bunny flowers with a glittered skittle center.

WHEW!!!  anyone still with me???????  i am thinking about offering this as a class at my local community center –  what do y’all think??

tomorrow – gorgeous shimmering Creative Inspirations paints with a tutorial and BIG announcement!!

until then…i will be out shoveling snow…again…

better blog siggy
