CARD CANDY!!! yum!

well we managed somme fun family fun time and went to a local farm for pumpkin pickin and gourd huntin:

All of us - small

this is on the hayride out to the field – we were facing into the sun so we are all squinty but i don’t care – i rarely get a pic of everyone much less one with ME IN IT!!  (trev is lookin a lil grumpy cuz he WAS grumpy – girl trouble i suspect but i couldn’t wheedle it outta him.)

it went MUCH better this year than it did last year when pez spent 85% of the trip flinging herself to the ground and throwing screaming fits!  heee heee!  this time we actually got to explore a bit after getting our pumpkins.  they had all kinds of animals so pezzy got to pet some horses – oh how i miss horseback riding – maybe one day…..they also had turkeys, goats, chickens, pigs and cows you could see up close and personal AND it didn’t stink which is a big improvement over great country farms where we usually go PLUS this place was free admission to boot!  now quite as much stuff to do but they did have two of pezzy’s favorite things – a bouncing pillow and a corn bin.

ok ’nuff about that – on to the projects!

the projects i am showing today are all card candy.  what on earth is card candy – well apparently it is nothing new but it is fairly new to me as i just came across it a few months ago.  it is basically a set of elements that can be used to create a card or cards (or you can do a set to use for layouts – hence layout candy).  i have been doing some here and there, LO candy too, and i signed up to donate prizes for an online crop on Scrapping Friends and 2 of the prizes i promised were card candy – 1 garden theme and 1 Christmas theme.   i FINALLY got to make them this weekend and i had lots of fun doing it! in fact i ended up with TWO christmas sets plus i made a mini halloween set since i am so behind on sending it out.  each set will make more than one card but they all coordinate so they can be mixed and matched.  Studio Gs are great for this!

here is the garden set:

card candy garden

this set has a border, several main image pieces, a die cut emebllie done with the cricut, some embellies done with bosskuts dies and some smaller embellies – 2 out of clay and 2 die cuts on top of yoyos.  i used brilliance pearlescent inks for some extra sparkle and the two boss kut flowers and the tag have glitterd skittles.  the birdhouse is stamed with memento and colored with copics – remember don’t let anyone tell you a studio G stamp is to cheap to work well – NOT TRUE!!

next up is my christmas set:

card candy christmas

This set has 2 borders, a title tag, a bunch of image pieces and lots of skittles including one perched on a matching yoyo.  the peppermints and ornaments on the borders and the lone ornament all have a nice coating of glossy accents for some shine and dimension – really neat look.  i put the layered pieces together with dimensionals so there is lots of dimension in this set!

next up is a mini halloween set using one of the tags from yesterday:

and here is the extra one:

card candy winter

Again 2 borders and 2 main image pieces with a number of embellies including some snowmen skittles and a couple snowmen skittle heads on yoyos.

i used quite a bit of crystal stickles on this set so there is lots of sparkle.  i also added some polar white flower soft beneath the reindeer so he is running over snow!  want to se emore card candy – put it in the search box over in the SCS gallery – some really great samples!

i think these sets would make fun gifts for fellow card makers or scrapbookers.  what do you think??

i hope you have a fun and crafty afternoon!

hugs
