SCS gift bag, a secret & a shimmering tutorial!

**Don’t forget to check out how to win a digi freebie – scroll down to the next post if you missed it this morning**

i have been sitting on a secret for some time now (OTHER than the new releases of course!!) and i FINALLY get to let it out!!!  i was contacted by Boss Kut to be a designer for them!!!  i have to say it was totally unexpected and i feel completely thrilled and excited.  i had been perusing their die cuts and so the timing was perfect!  well while i was on vacation my first package of goodies came and i LOVE them!  today’s project uses one called Blossoms and i can’t wait to put the rest to use!  i use them in my cuttlebug and they cut out wonderfully!

I really like the most recent sketch challenge on SCS – clean and simple.

I used it for todays project but instead of a card i decided to do a little gift bag:

OF COURSE i brought my markers to my mom’s last week and was able to fit in a little bit of coloring.  her house is just filled with inspiration to do art and i tried some different things on this fairy that came out nicely i think.

img_0968After coloring her in i used my spica glitter pens and accented the flowers so they are very sparkly.  I also highlighted the fairies dress with my pink spica because i think fairies need LOTS of shimmer!  when I got home my order of Twinkling H2Os was waiting for me too so i used those on her wings and WOW do i love it!

Once home I thought she went perfectly with the perfect pearl background (tutorial below) i did before i left.

img_0969i added some distress and regular stickles to the boss kut blossoms and layerd them up then bent the petals forward a bit to give some really good dimension.

So what do you think????

and now for those techies like me who want to know how i did the background:

Gather your supplies (links above):img_07321

white cardstock, Kaleidacolor rainbow ink pad, brayer, water, crumpled paper towel, perfect gold perfect pearls, soft paintbrush.

Cover your cardstock with ink using the brayer.  I hve two different ones shown here.

Work quickly through this next part.  sprinkle the inked page with water – you want droplets NOT AN ALL OVER MIST.  img_07351

i used my fingers so my drops are kinda big.  i hink something like a toothbrush would work too – wet the brush and use your fingernail to splatter water droplets.  lightly dab the drops but don’t spread them.  immediately use your brush to dust perfect pearls all over – they will stick to the areas with water drops and brush off other areas.  this produces the random golden splattered look.

i can think of lots of variations…what can YOU come up with???
