And the shimmer continues with The Greeting Farm

After spending all morning on it (instead of packing – EEK) i think i have finally fixed the subscription issues and everyone should be getting my post feeds again. If you have not *heard* from me in awhile you will REALLY want to scroll down and catch up because there is ALOT going on in the Studio that you don’t want to miss. We have a new DT (AWESOME), new exclusive embellies, a focus on ways to shimmer this month AND new release festivities starting Monday April 13th!

Now onto the fun stuff – PICTURES! hee heeee When i read the challenge over at Our Creative Corner i was a little unsure – it is a color challenge – bashful blue, not quite navy and more mustard – things that make you go HHHMMMMMMM….to be honest i am not huge on the more mustard. BUT i was getting a wee bit tired of pastel-y easter so ……:

The Greeting Farm Geisha

The Greeting Farm Geisha

i have been wanting to do an image embossed in gold for awhile and i thought this was my chance and this little Geisha from the Greeting Farm would be perfect for the color scheme.  The light blue panel is stamped with an image from inkadinkado in versamark and brushed with perfect gold perfect pearls then lightly misted with water to set the pearls.  The fabby sapphire sparkle embellies will be available in the store soon!

After embossing the imge in gold i colored with my copics.  I used perfect pearls in baby blue for her eye shadow.  I did not have a copic darker than C7 and that really wasn’t dark enough to read as black hair SO i pulled out my black prisma pencil and went over the copics – i am very pleased with the effect!  The panel is cut out with nestibilities and edged in brilliance galaxy gold using a foam ink blending tool.

i MUST say i was surprised by how much i like the navy and more mustard together!!!
And now in keeping with the product spotlight theme this month a little tutorial on that fabulous shimmery panel:
Supplies
Supplies
Gather your supplies: dark cardstock (i used not quite navy), Perfect Ink refresher, 2-3 colors perfect pearls, paintbrush and paint tray and paper towels.
Random Squiggles of thin paint

Random Squiggles of thin paint

Mix each of your perfect pearls with water to make a thin, watery paint.  Spray the cardstock really well with the perfect ink refresher and rub it into the paper lightly.  Take your brush and drag the paints across the paper in wavy random lines.
Beginning of the dabbing process

Beginning of the dabbing process

Quickly spray the paper again with ink refresher until the paints begin to run slightly.  Dab them with a crumpled paper towel to begin blurring the lines and making random crackled lines.  re crumble the paper towel or get a new one if it gets to saturated.  Add more spray if the lines are still too heavy and visible.  The bottom left corner shows how the lines have begun to disappear.  Let dry.

Use anyway you want, once dry the pearls are *set* and OH SO SHIMMERY!

I used the sketch challenge for this week over on SCS.

i you all try this fun technique and i would lOVE to hear what you think of it!

And now off to pack for a week with my mom WAY down south, i will be stuffing myself with crawfish all day sunday!!!

hugs

    • storage….well my storage system is not nearly as elaborate as some. i sort mine by subject matter and keep the large groups like christmas in plastic continers about the size of a shoebox. smaller groups i keep in the various sized plastic boxes the SU stamps come in.
