not so much a tutorial

as a product explanation/how the heck do you use that sort of a post hee heee!! SOOOO my exploration for today is interference colors. when i first started stamping and such i came across these in a variety of forms, played with them a bit, thought they looked white no matter what and hated them. then the light bulb suddenly came on and i realized they really only work ON BLACK PAPER – DUUHHHH!!! SO i decided to pull some things out and play with them – oh good heavens my friends i am IN LOVE! (yea i know happens to me all the time with stamping goodies). First the sketch from MJ:
AND below is the card where i used 2 different interference items:
MAN does this stuff have some ZING! the background black panel is stamped with versamark and then dusted with perfect pearls pigment powder in interference red, interferencegreen and interference violet. they just positively GLOW!! next the main panel – this is stamped with ink pads from tsukineko called opalites. i edged with opalites too. you WILL be seeing those pop up on the website now!! the sparkle is delicious!!! they do not come in small pads so i could not ink the center portion of my stamp as well as i would have liked but i can’t wait to pull out some holiday stamps……….the purple rectangle is velvet paper.
next is a LO with a background piece using a technique junkies technique with the opalites:

and a close up with the sun hitting it in different ways – just impossible to REALLY capture shimmer but i try…

i covered the white cardstock with ink – adirondack and studio G $1 inks – and then stamped over and over with “butterflies a-flutter” in black ink. next i covered the turquoise with nordic ice opalite ink and the yellow with golden mist opalite ink. a side note here for you – it was hard to keep the ink where i wanted it with the large ink pads so instead i took my foam blending tool and picked the golden mist up from the pad and rubbed it on and then with the nordic ice i used the reinker instead – just squirted it right onto a clean piece of foam on the blending tool and smeared it on – will have to play with that some more…….

the swirls are chipboard covered in the same yellow studio G $1 ink and then again with the golden mist opalite ink. the white is an inssentials pen.

**note to self** stock ALL of the opalites and put on the website!! they come in 9 colors.
