hi all!

any fun plans for the weekend?  i will be taking it off from work and enjoying some family time   quick post for you before i take off though!
have you had a chance to check out the amazing rubber stamps by Make It Crafty that are available at SCACD?  these are SO much fun!  today’s card uses Fairy Tree House:

the sketch is the current SCS sketch challenge.  I made the large background paper using a technique in a recent issue of Technique Junkies called Faux Washi paper.  the smaller flowered strip comes from a fantastic 6×6 bo bunny paper pad – Garden Girl.  **by the way, if you have not browsed SCACD’s 6×6 paper pad section recently i urge you to go check it out – AMAZING new papers are in including many for the holidays!**

i colored this amazing image with my colored pencils.  the flower embellie is done using First Impression molds and Viva Decor Crystal Gel.  i brushed on some copper perfect pearls powder to tie it in even better. i finished the card off with some dots of Turquoise Viva Decor Pearl Pen.

Outlawz POM: Bag & Tag challenge

yay monday…not!

i hope everyone had a good weekend.  ours was super busy!  we bought a toy hauler camper trailer last weekend and kevin went to pick it up saturday.  then we went over it to get to know it and list out what we needed & wanted to get it all set up for camping next weekend.  then sunday i got a 3 hour break and was home ALL ALONE!  forgot how much i can get done when i am all alone!  i did a bunch of work on our dollhouse (after  pulling a bunch apart – you can keep up with dollhouse stuff on my new blog Dotted Daisy Designs).  i also got some projects done that are due this week – yay for being ahead!  then we took our trailer out to west VA where it will be stored (not allowed to keep it in our neighborhood).  After that i went straight to petsmart with Josephine (Momma Cat) & Berlioz for the Sunday kitten adoption event.  we thought we had a family for Berlioz BUT i did not know they won’t allow a cat under 6 months to be adopted by itself – they have to go in pairs.  which is a great rule because it is better for the cats AND the owners that way.  perhaps in 2 weeks i will be able to bring little Gingersnap in too and they will get to stay together.  her stitches have to heal first.  anyway, no one was adopted so we still have all three.

And today’s project is for the POM challenge on The Outlawz.  The challenge starts every Thursday and this week we were challenged to make a bag and tag set.  you saw my tag yesterday – here is the rest!

my image is from SCACD and it is a Crafty Individuals stamp called lilys.  I used a Technique Junkies technique called Non-Stick Color and i LOVE the effect! the crafty individuals stamps are perfect for this technique.  the embellie a is Make It Crafty Die Cut flourish with Viva Decor Crystal Gel molded flower. The tag is cut using the Preserves Cricut cartridge.

and now i am off to get some errands done – got to get the camper stocked up.  i am really hoping for some good sales on summer stuff like beach towels and dishes and such.

SC323: Just Chillin’

Hi all!

we are going to float away here in northern VA – i know lots of other areas have had this storm over the last couple days including louisiana – they even had tornadoes which was UNHEARD OF when i was growing up down there.  YIKES!  it is supposed to get really bad here this afternoon – and not only is hubby NOT here he is actually going to be attempting to drive home in it from PA EEK!

anyone else on Pinterest?  it is a neat little site – i am constantly wandering around on the internet and looking up things that interest me.  Pinterest allows me to put a virtual pin in something i see that i like and then i can refer back to it.  i can also look at other people’s pins and they can look at mine – cool.

I am back with another TIOT card for ya for Susana’s Custom Art & Card Design!

I started out by creating my own background paper – the idea is from Technique Junkies (Wet Stencil technique (TJNL, August 2009). I started with white paper. Next i chose a Crafter’s Workshop Stencil – Cosmic Swirl and some homemade Shimmering Mists using Perfect Pearls and reinkers. I wanted to make my own mists because i wanted lots of shimmer but i wanted the colors to be fairly light. i laid my stencil down and misted lightly with pale purple and yellow mists, then i picked up the stencil and laid it mist side down on the paper, pressed and lifted back off. very cool i think! the paper is from one of the DOZENS of 6×6 paper pads Susana carries – so perfect for cardmakers! i made the bow using my Bow Easy – can’t imagine being without it! and then added two Prima Cottage Blooms – have you seen the new stuff Prima has come out with this year? Check out the ones in the store already! I finished off the punched border with a few perfect little pearls done with the Lilac Pearl Pen.

Now my adorable image – Just chillin’ from the latest SCACD release by Victoria Case for SCACD – the Sweet Meets Sassy Collection. I colored her with Copics of course and added some glittering Spica details here and there. isn’t she just devine?!?!?!?

Technique time with Pagoda

hi everyone!

did you have a good mother’s day – either as the mom or with your mom?!  i got the BEST gifts – my oldest son (19) has been out on his own for 6 months now and he SENT ME A GIFT!!!  the first season of desperate housewives – i never watched it so it will give me something to watch when i am up at 4am!  then when i got up this morning there was a note on my computer that said click play – it was a you tube video of a song by good charlotte about a singll mom and how the kid loves her and is thnakful for her – i could have cried!!  that was from trev – the 17 year old.  then i also had an email from drake saying happy mother’s day.  and they did all this all by themselves – we were always on our own so there was never really much in the way of any mother’s day stuff what with no other adult around to lead the way.  of course they would always make me something in school.  one year trev made me a card with a blue ribbon on the front.  inside the writing prompt was i have the best mother in the world because….and trev put she makes me chicken.  i was like WOW really?  all these years of sacrifice and all i had to do was make you chicken???  HAHHAHHAH!!

hubby gave me the best gift you can give a mother of a small child – the whole day to myself! of COURSE i spent it in my craft room!  i got alot of stuff done that was totally NOT on any to do list or part of any obligations. 

One thing I did was to play with my Cricut Pagoda cartridge some more which i have been really wanting to do!  in addition i got this GREAT new book called Texure Effects for Rubber Stamping - it ROCKS!!! it is SO ME!!  so here is a card set i created:

they are all very clean and simple – i just couldn’t cover up the neat backgrounds i made for three of them!  then i ran out of white glossy cardstock   so the fourth one is just a cuttlebug background with the KOI from the Asian Bundle.  This Summer Provocraft will be releasing several more bundles designed to pair up with several cartridges – BRILLIANT!!!!  SO here are the cards up close:

i have to say i LOVE this cartridge and i LOVE this book!!!  i highly recommend both of them!  this cartridge is also excellent for those always difficult masculiine cards and stuff!

ok that’s all you’re gettin outta me!  tomorrow is hubby’s bday so pezzy and i will be building a cake and such!  hee heee!

Artful INKables – think ink make-over

helloooooo!

wow where did my day go???  when we were running errands pezzy found some gigantious pink glitter sunglasses she HAD to have.  so she walked around Kohls with them on asking folks if she looked gorgeous ACK!  kid is a trip!

i have been in a fantastic mood!  i am working with several new products right now and they just rock!  hoping for some extended play time for mothers day hee heee!  ok it’s late and i am way behind so onward!

i had a REALLY hard time with this.  i am not one of those peeps who looks back at her original work and cringes – i LIKE it all.  it was very different for sure but i like it!  but i settled on one:

i made this long before i started stamping.  i think it’s cute but i decided to do some stamping instead of the die cut:

i used this AMAZING set of stamps from artful INKables called Steampunk Sara.  I used the accent images to make the background piece.  First i used the Antiqued Glimmers technique from the Technique Junkies dec. 2009 issue.  then i stamped randomly with some of the stamps from the set.  i cut edges with one of the new tim holtz alterations dies and then distressed with my edge distresser.  the key is from the grungeboard minis.  i inked it with antique linen then lightly added a bit of copper cretive inspirations paint and inked the edges with walnut stain.

i am quite excited with myself over Sara herself – i watercolored her with distress inks!  i know for alot of people this would be no big deal and she doesn’t look nearly as good as some of the gals over in europe BUT it is definitely better than any i have tried so far AND the first one i felt ok with sharing!  the flowers are primas and the centers are the new Kiwi Viva Decor Pearl Pen.  and now i am off to bed – i have an early day as usual!
