SGC22 time!! color challenge for ya!

happy sunday y’all!  i hope everyone had a wonderful funfilled weekend!  SO SORRY for being so late in posting today’s challenge!!  i have been a little behind this weekend but i have just GOT to tell you about my day yesterday.

i don’t know if they do this everywhere but in our area around this time of year the Boy Scouts go door to door collecting food for the needy.  well this year our NJROTC cadets signed up to volunteer at the local food bank to help sort the food and parents were asked to volunteer in shifts to supervise the cadets.  so i signed up and thats where i spent saturday morning.  i have to say it was an amazing experience.

when i walked in the little warehouse/storage area was PILED HIGH with food donations!!  i mean TONS of food.  i was just awestruck at the generosity of people right there to see.  especially since there was a time when the boys were very small (i raised them both alone and was very young) when i was on the other side of the food donations.  so i was truly touched and have been thinking all weekend of all the people along the way that really helped me along the way in so many ways while i waited tables and put myself through college with two small boys – certainly not something i could have done alone.  i talked to the guy in charge and he said they are hoping the donations will be enough to last until march.  pretty impressive!  however this is the biggest time of year for donations.  after this they dwindle to very little and there are lots of people who still need help throughout the year.  so i am hoping that everyone will remember gratitude and generosity beyond the holiday season and donate at other times!  we plan on helping out with the cadets before Christmas too and then i might look into helping them on a more regular basis.

Now for the next challenge – i have a color challenge for you – brown, blue and rust (or copper/bronze)

here is mine:

has anyone been to Michaels recently?  ok stop laughing, i know, silly question!  well if you have and you have strolled through their Christmas stuff you have seen all the new off beat christmas colors.  my fave is the blue and bronze – just LOVE it!!!  so that was my inspiration here.  i used a bronze metallic encore ink pad instead of rust so i get a bit of shimmer.  The bottom-most panel is SEI patterned paper.  the next blue layer is also SEI – it has a FAINT blue pattern on it and then i stamped the bronze snowflakes with a studio G stamp.  The two trees are also studio Gs stamped in bronze.  the light blue snowflakes and *cheer* sentiment are glitter rubons.  everything is edged with bronze ink using the foam ink blending tool.  of course i HAD to finish it off with a couple matching pezabling on top and bottom!

Studio G challenge time & important change announced

hello everyone!  what a great time i had just hangin out with crafty girls yesterday!  it was not a scrappin only group so we had all sorts of things going on – scrapping, lots of knitting, an origami box demo, cross stitching and i was doing polymer clay charms.  everyone brought food to eat and of course lots of chatting while we worked and checking out each others’ stuff.  i am hoping we can do it once a month maybe….

now onto today’s post:

after LOADS of difficult consideration i have decided to incorporate these challenges into my blog instead of continuing them on Paper Craft Planet.  i have 2 reasons for this

1. it will be ALOT easier for me to keep up with.  i am finding myself more  more pressed for time and need to limit the number of sites i visit on a regular basis.
2. i am really hoping to increase the number of participants.  heavens knows i send out LOADS of these sets!!!

i might even create a page devoted to all things studio G…..

now for today’s challenge – Michelle has an inspiration challenge for us – LEAVES!  Create any type of project you want incorporating leaves in some way and also using studio G stamps – although there are some nice leaf ones it doesn’t mean you are limited to only leaves – everybody got it?!?!?!

now for my sample i am cheating a little – i actually posted the card i made for this challenge earlier in the week because it incorporated other challenges and i wanted to catch those deadlines but here it is again for you:

SGC20: new studio g challenge

happy sunday!!!  we FINALLY got the porch done for halloween – not much – just halloween lights across the bushes, some creepy characters hanging from the roof edge and a few other items on the porch near the door.  of course we have a pile of pumpkins and gourds too!

today is the day Michelle issues a new studio G challenge over on PCP (Paper Craft Planet) – this time it’s a sketch challenge.  and a gret one too – LOTS of options to go with on this one for sure!!  Now i know a good many of you reading this came here initially looking for studio G updates and collect these things just as avidly as i do!  but it just breaks my heart when i read MB threads with folks saying they don’t USE them!!!  hey they ARE only a buck but it is only a FAB deal if you break them out AND STAMP!!!  PLUS you could win a prize too!!!!  a set of stamps from ahmpton arts!  if you are one of those that has trouble then be sure and watch my video tutorial on You Tube!! i PROMISE you will get a perfect, clean, crisp image every time you stamp!

the sketch is fantastic!  i struggled with it a bit not because i couldn’t figure out what to do with it but because i had so many options!  if only the amount of time i have to craft matched the amount of ideas i have to craft!

 

i finally settled on one:

Instead of squares i decided to cut out some ornament shapes with my cricut and stamp on those.  i used 2 stamps i just got from the Ms christmas set.  i didn’t go to Ms for 2 weeks and they got them and sold them at both my Ms.  they were only a handful left so i managed to get 3 of the whole set   but i do LOVE these!  Rather than ink the edges i decided to stickle instead!  the tops are gold liquid pearls.  i am IN LOVE with teeny self adhesive rhinestones lately.  i got a BUNCH in every color back in the summer and then never used them.  even gave half of alot of them to cat at the time because it seemed like i had way too many.  now i love them and didn’t see ANY at my Ms!!  eek!  these are tiny and they were some cheap knock off brand – just in rows – love ‘em!  finished off the card with skittles and pezabling of course – the perfect accessory always!

now i am off to clean house – fun fun….

Studio G Challenge time!!

anyone ever have chinese food for breakfast?  when i was a kid a dinner out was a rare treat and it was almost always with my aunt at her favorite Chinese restaurant.  and then my mom always ate leftover chinese food for breakfast the next morning.  well last night we ordered chinese food for dinner and this morning i just had a craving for it so i ate house lo mein for breakfast YUMMY!!!

we are off to hunt pumpkins and gourds this afternoon.  Pezzy has INSISTED her brothers MUST come which of course has them groaning and rolling their eyes – teens and young adults – such fun.  but i am glad we will all go together – an opportunity for some GREAT pics with everyone in them doesn’t happen often!  Maybe hubby will even take some so I can actually be in them too!  plus i miss the days when they used to LIKE to hang otu with me and go places together *sigh*

ok on to the reason you’re here – projects!

it’s that time again – STUDIO G CHALLENGE TIME!!  oh how i just love my studio Gs – i have been using the heck out of them recently!  the challenge issued by Michelle over on PCP was to make a card using the NEW halloween colors – not just black and orange but to include green and purple – oh how i love using green and purple in my halloween stuff.  i cheated a little though – i do not really need anymore halloween cards but i DID need some halloween tags to attach to some goodies i plan to make for neighbors:

i went to my SU tech club meeting last night and we did THE NEATEST thing with reinkers – a super easy way to produce a watercolored effect.  i will post about it soon and show everyone what stacy taught us!

today is the LAST DAY for the current studio G challenge over on PCP – it is a sketch challenge and i am FINALLY getting my card done! 

 

 

 

 

 

Now this is pre – new skittles so no sample but i will have those tomorrow for the NEW skittle challenge so BE SURE to come back and check it out!

does anyone else find it difficult to just LEAVE large blank spaces on their cards??  as i made this i really struggled with the blank space but i also did not want the card getting to busy.  which is funny because i still love all of the very first cards i ever made and boy talk about lots of blank space!  but i resisted the urge so the focus could stay on the main image.  i DID feel a bit better when i put the large red pezabling acrylic squares on hee heee!

my image is a studio G of course from a past set.  i stamped with memento black so i could color it in with my copics.  although studio Gs don’t work with most dye inks they do fairly well with mementos.  i also edged the main panel and DSP with memento tangelo. 

Now back to the challenge – there is a new challenge every other sunday and there is always a prize!  this time around the prize is sponsored by Hampton Arts!!!  and last time i checked there were only a few entries so your odds of winning are pretty good!!!
