christmas…yep, christmas card!

hello everyone!

i hope you are all having a wonderful morning – I am enjoying the ever crisper fall-ish morning we have been having here in northern VA.  oh winter how i love you!  ever since pezza broke my body thermometer during pregnancy i have struggled with always being way too hot.  which is funny because before that i always struggled with being way to cold…

Pezza is still doing well in school and even doing better at home – growing up perhaps?

I spent the afternoon in my newly designed studio playing yesterday – HEAVEN!  and yes i am SO lucky to have a designated spot so large all to myself!  i began by playing with some Pardo Polymer Clay and came up with some adorable little pumpkins for a swap I am in – check them out on Dotted Daisy.

i also did some coloring of course!

i just love the sweet little Fall Flora Fairies in the SCACD shop and i have Friendship Rose done up for Christmas today using the current sketch from my friend Melissa over on Tuesday Morning sketches.  I am also entering it in the following challenges:

Paperplay – Punches & Dies
Frosted Designs – Punches
Card Makin Mamas – Punches

Love that rose dress she is wearing!  I used some gorgeous glittery paper from Best Creations Merry Christmas collection (susana has them in the 6×6 size for us of course!)  I added one of my hand crocheted flowers on a layer of felt from Felt on the Fly with a glittered skittle in the center.  the top also has a few of my Holly printed skittles (i still sell the printed skittles in my store).  I also added my own pearl and glitter flourishes using Liquid Pearls Opal and Stickles Stardust.

I colored my image with Polycolor Colored Pencils.  I wanted to give her wings a bit of shimmer so i got a little Pearl Perfect Pearls and mixed it with water to create a thin paint which I painted on.  That is the thing i love about perfect pearls – it is so incredibly versatile AND has the binder built right in!

my baby Bubba Cat is ALWAYS where ever I am and when I finished work this morning here is where I found him:

REALLY!?!?!?  at first he was laying ON the card but i got it out from under him!  just LOOK at that incredible tail!  it is getting fluffier and fluffier.  Maine Coons don’t tend to be born looking as fluffy as they end up being as adults.  but my little man is fluffing up QUITE nicely!  Maine Coons are one of the greatest breeds of cat you could ever own – I am SO glad we got our little Bubba!

Susana is loading up the store with new goodies all the time – be sure to check back often!  The new Crafts Too folders are incredible!  the new 6×6 christmas pads are JUST the thing for all of those cards you’ll be making and there are new Kraftin’ Kimmies in stock too!
hugs

Cricutting away :)

hi everyone!

i have managed to win the battle of the allergies this time (with the help of flonase and lots of benadryl.)  seems spring allergy season and fall allergy season are getting closer and closer together – pretty soon, i will just be miserable all year BLECH!!!  Thank goodness Pezza has been extremely well behaved and low key – well at least in Pezza terms.

I am thrilled with the response to the colored pencil class and hope to see lots more of you in class!  it has been SO much fun delving back into the pencils that i am beginning to wonder if i will make it back to my copics *GASP*  if you are thinking about signing up it is $5 off!

i have been spending ALOT of time with my Cricut and i wanted to share this simple all Cricut card with you.  This was for the Cricut Cardz challenge that ended yesterday DOH!  It had to be a thank you card, use blue, yellow and white and have a Cricut cut border and i used the sketch challenge from Fussy and Fancy:

My border was done with my imagine and the pattern on it is from the Blossom cartridge.  The border itself is from the Easter Solutions cartridge.  Thank you also has a pattern on it from Blossom and is cut from Alphalicious.  I embossed with a Sizzix embossing folder (much deeper than Provocraft) and highlighted the border with a few yellow glittered skittles.

For anyone who DOES NOT have an AC Moore nearby but wants to get some of the new cartridges ProvoCraft released you can order them at a FANTASTIC price from my buddy Terri at Stampsalive.

and finally – who won the collection of adhesives?  Sharon Swain!  YAY!

and now i am off to pick up pezza at school!

have a great day!

sfytt060510today i am sharing my Think Ink challenge card with you using Artful INKables stamps!  The challenge is to go outside of the box and do something new.  so i did the collage tutorial from the artful inkables blog from last week.

i also used the SFYTT sketch and the SCS color challenge – Ruby red, Cameo Coral & Tempting Turquoise.

I used stamps from 3 different Artful Inkables sets: In My Garden, Bugs & Blossoms Mandalas, & Fanciful Flowers.  i also used 4 different shades of inks from versamagic, brilliance and memento – LOVE having all of those little dew drops handy!

the trim across the top is from Webster’s Pages – pretty cool huh?!?!  i finished it off with a flower i crocheted myself and some of my exclusive glittered skittles.  What do you think??  This was a fun technique!  quick and easy too!

and now pezzy and i are off to walmart – think they will have any of those LITE carts?  i have 9 more on my wish list! *SCREECH*  that will take awhile to collect :P  maybe i can sneak one into the cart each week when i go grocery shopping…

see ya tomorrow!!!

I used a Page Maps as usual for this – perhaps i need to find some LO challenge blogs!  if you know of any let me know!

Kristin at Artful INKables needed some LOs for her booth this weekend so here is my second one i did for her.  the little birdhouse and two flower images are from the set Any Birdy Home - oh so cute!  one of the easiest ways to incorporate your favorite stamps into a LO is to use them in place of one or more of the pictures.  the second easiest way is to use them to make little embellishments like i have here.  i made the flowers using my new favorite thing to diecut – Viva Decor Modeling Grass.  Susana has a couple colors in stock now at SCACD and is working on more colors but like anything introduced at CHA it takes time for it all to hit the market!  the swirls are drawn on freehand with  versmark marker – NEVER thought i could do it but i surprised myself!  then i simply added blue pearl pen and gold glitter liner – both from Viv Decor along the lines.  i finished it off with some of my glittered skittles along one edge and a few dandelion skittle below the main picture.  i have to say it was hard to give this LO up!

and now i am off to get some work done!!  i hope everyone is having a great week so far!

One last christmas gift card explosion box

i just want to say thanks for the great responses to my tutorials!

SOOOOOOO…i have been cleaning up in my scraproom as it looks like a michaels store threw up in there.  then this morning for some reason (possibly the piles (plural) of paper all around the floor) i decided to go through my patterned paper and organize a bit so i could get it all put away……GOOD HEAVENS i have entirely too much paper!  i am pretty sure that if i never bought another sheet of paper i would still be able to scrap until i died!!  what to do……i was reading a thread on the cricut board asking if anyone has seen the new valentine papers from anywhere yet.  well i am pretty sure i could make valentines for the whole USA with wht i have :P

SO i have really been thinking alot bout the new year and  my personal goals this year – not so much resolutions just goals.  one of them is to USE WHAT I HAVE.  i am fearful though…..people come to blogs to see ll the latest & gretest.  and quite frankly i have no need or room for one of everything anymore – i want to use what i have accumulated.  SO i hope i do not disappoint.  HOWEVER i DO have lots of other plans in mind to keep things fun around here.  so stay tuned, i will reveal more on new year’s day!

OH and what the heck do y’all do with YOUR mountains of extra paper you no longer want to use???

This is an explosion gift card box i made for Trev:

and here it is when opened:

the snowman inside was holding a fake $1 bill.  when he took it out and unfolded it i had written check your bank account on the inside hee heee!

i used SEI patterned paper on all panels inside and out.  then i used one of the snowflake nesties sets to cut several snowflakes in pale blue & silver.  then i gave each of them a snowflake skittle center & added  skittle snowman to  one corner of each panel.  these are both in stock now on my website but they go quick and i won’t get anymore for this year.

i think i am going to make some bday ones to have on hand :)

i have to say i am itchin to do something not christmas-y!

have a great day!

JBC:Flurries & a big NOEL plus daring faves

hi all! happy monday!  i know – oxymoron right :P  i had to run to the grocery store this morning around 8 and i had ICE on my windshield!!!  yikes!  but yesterday was wonderful and the trees are INCREDIBLE right now!  i LOVE fall color!  we never had that down south (NO i do not consider virginia the south – i am talking about south louisiana – south of new orleans.)  anyway we didn’t have any fall color change on our trees – heck we BARELY had winter.  as a kid i always thought it was some kind of myth.  then i moved north – first missouri and then here – WOW!!!  makes my jaw drop every year!  like some of the trees are on FIRE!

so apparently i should have bought some lottery tickets last week or something.  i think i got three challenge awards in one week!!!!!!!!!!  i one a gift certificate from the cuttlebug spot, made the top three scoops at pile it on, and got a mention over on just buggin!!!  i think i have been doing challenges for 2 years now and have had this happen like twice before :P  talk about floating on air hee heee!!!!  i enjoyed all of these challenges immensely and felt i needed a change so i hope to fit them into my weekly crafting every week!!!  starting now HAHAHHA!

tried something new for today’s card – new for me anyway!!  the challenge over at Just Buggin’ is to make a die cut shape card with your cricut.  well i NEVER use the card feature – mostly because i have the baby bug so the card is small and envelopes even smaller and it just frustrates me.  BUT i really started looking at them for this challenge and wow!  some really good stuff:

just buggin

after i cut the main card i cut some layers for the snowflake and then a frame with nesties.  here is the second reason i get frustrated with the card (tag, whatever) feature – the layers don’t quite match up – BUT i made it work!   i took an acetate sheet from the back of a set of studio G stamps and colored it with alcohol ink.  then i adhered it to the back behind the snowflake cut out.  i cuttlebugged a border and then added some snowflake skittles and a cute little snowman face skittle.

just buggin layers

all of the layered pieces are popped up on foam tape.

i also did the inside:

just buggin inside

i cut matching pieces to cover the inside so the acetate sheet edges were hidden.  i used a nestie to cut the windo out for the snowflake.
just buggin SG close up

The snowflake border and inside image/sentiment are studio G stamps – don’t let anyone tell you these little $1 babies don’t stamp well!!!  look how crisp those itty bitty letters are!  i always use brilliance dew drops.

i had SO much fun with that one i decided to do another one but i got a little fancier – broke out my cricut design studio.  i have had DS for 1 1/2 years and have barely dabbled in it at all.  but i really like what i did – totally nothing fancy by DS terms but still cool:

just buggin die cut card

the card shape is just a shape on the cartridge.  in DS i put the shape on the right and then the shape on black out feature on the left and welded them together so the cut out to form a card.  then i also cut out the frame the same size from DS.  i outlined the letters with holly stickles – a cool mix of green glitter with a bit of red.  added some red sparkling pezabling and the front was done!

die cut card back

the letters were cut out and well that just bothers me so once again i HAD to put on a backing.  i cut the blackout shape again from clear acetate.  wanna know where i got it this time?  it is the cover that comes off a new cricut mat :)  i covered it with alcohol inks and attached it with glossy accents.  i put another frame on the inside edges to give it a finished look.

here’s the best part – all the extras that were cut out of the noel piece and the frame were perfect for a second card with no additional cutting:

die cut card leftovers

i edged everything with brilliance galaxy gold and also brushed gold over the raised embossing.  this time i did my stickles outline with candy cane – red glitter with a bit of gold mixed in.  this gold ribbon went perfectly and i finished off with a christmas yoyo, a green printed holly skittle and some more red pezabling!  this covers the daring cardmakers challenge use at least 5 of your favorite things on one item – 10 if you can!  i used:

1. cricut
2. cuttlebug embossing
3. yoyos
4. skittles
5. pezabling
6. stickles
7. metallic ink

my hubby really liked these with the cutout feature so i might have to experiment some more with them.  i can do tags too!!!  hahahha!  i may devote one weekend to tags since i need a bunch of them.

and now i am off to see what the mysterious pouring sounds are i hear coming from the kitchen……..my child NEVER stops getting into stuff….

Tues AM sketch:a witchy line up

shocking but we actually saw sunshine briefly yesterday!  Pezzy had a friend over to play since we haven’t been able to meet up in the yards in the evening like we had gotten used to doing.

tuesAM sketchi am too late to be in the drawing but today’s card uses Melissa’s sketch over at Tuesday Morning sketches.  i thought it was a pretty neat one and the samples were wonderful!

here is my take on it – turns out i needed 2 more halloween cards so i made one as my sample:

tuesAM

i just love this polka dot paper and wanted to focus on it for my card.  i cut the triangles on my cricut so they could have rounded corners AND all be exactly the same with an exactly matching mat.  i actually colored this image when i got it way back in july.  i was going to enter it in a whipper snapper challenge but never did.  i found it when i cleaned up saturday morning!

tuesAM close up

i was going to embellish it but then decided to just use these 3 little skittle spiders and keep things simple.

today i am off to the offray ribbon outlet about an hour away – i sure hope i find lots of fabby deals!!!
