SFYTT:super fun card to make!

hi all!

i have LOTS to tell you about today!  so i hope you’re up for it!  (this is what happens when i don’t get a chance to post all week )

we had a very busy weekend – despite us both having loads of work to do we decided to bite the bullet and get pez’s room switched around – we have been talking about it for months.  she was in our 4th bedroom which is really teeny (the builder calling it a bedroom is really a stretch.)  and she was in her crib converted to a toddler bed so it was really too small for her.  we completely packed up and cleaned out drake’s old room, moved all of pez’s stuff in there and then moved some of drake’s stuff into pez’s old room and turned that into an office for kevin.  pez loves her new big room and huge bed but when we put her to bed sunday night she just looked so teeny!  basically the side of her crib turns into a headboard for a full size bed so we just took drake’s headboard off and put hers on:

it took all day and both of us were exhausted and sick from dust allergies (i have a HIDEOUS sore throat now) but it was so worth it to finally get it done.  eventually i will paint the walls and then my mom and i will do some big murals like we did in her other room.  maybe when she comes for a visit this spring…and of course i need to get her some bed linens as she is using drake’s old ones.

i used my friend Jen del Muro’s Sketch For You To Try BUT i turned it on it’s side.  in addition i used the following challenges for inspiration:

and here is my card:

purple & green is my fave color combination so of course i love this line by bo bunny – Jazmyne – AND IT HAS GLITTER!!!  i thought it would be fun to combine some swirls over the striped paper. 

so i whipped out one of my crafter’s workshop stencils (LOVE these things SO MUCH) and some champagne modeling cream by viva decor (love this stuff too!)  Check out how perfect and crisp this comes out!

here is the trick – work quickly – the more you mess and move and smoosh the more of a chance you will force some cream under your stencil.  be sure to wash your stencil right away so the cream does not dry to it.

my cute little girl is a digi from Pollycraft – i just love her stamps!  i colored her with Copics.  my gorgeous big flower is one of the new Primas and available at SCACD – the colors are so rich on these.  They are from the Roosevelt line and i want a pack in every color!  the little flower on the other side are PTI felt cut with a Spellbinders Die.  Then i put a big purple glittered skittle in the middle – pretty neat!  i have a thing with felt at the moment…i highly recommend getting your felt at either PTI or Felt On the Fly - the quality is a million times better than what you find at Michaels and Felt On the Fly has an AMAZING array of colors!  i just got some gorgeous fall and Christmas colors from Felt on the Fly and will hope to get started on some embellishment and holiday projects i have in mind….

what’s that crazy stuff under the felt embellies?  it is some fun new stuff i have been hoarding called Earth Elements from Art Institute Glitter.  it is a very organic mixture with lots of texture and it smells good too!  This one is called Petroglyph.  i adhered it with Scor tape here but i think the earth elements glue works alot better.  i have not tried it with my regular 3M glue yet.  me & suzanne both have some coming in today in other colors to get ready for some great fall projects!

hi all!!!

ahh the fun of christmas crafting – an excuse to make everything as glittery as possible right?  i always have so many things planned to do AND everything has to be shipped so no waiting til the last minute.  that being said my posts may get a bit sparse as i get some of the bigger projects done on way too little time!

the two biggest things on my agenda are some very large canvases – kits i picked up from quick quotes at CKC over the summer and a digi calendar.  plus the usual christmas ornaments for everyone (nearly done), and then various gift sets and such – preschool class, teachers, and small things for various folks….so i will show them as i get them done but some, like the canvases, will take some time.  plus i want to get some winter hats crocheted for pezzy and some clay embellies made….the list never ends!

OK before we get on to the project today i have a WINNER TO ANNOUNCE!!!  it seems the perfect pearl UTEE sandwich was the favorite, which is funny sine that is not even the technique i was supposed to be focusing on but sometimes it’s good to just go with the flow!  here is the random drawing:

i have a christmas gift bag for you today.

i used Melissa’s sketch over at Tuesday Morning Sketches.  i also colored up another of my Pollycraft Digis - the challenge over there is anything but a card.  i have to say, as i was coloring this image i could not help but think how much this little pixie looks like my friend, Amy Sheffer’s son Gabriel - you may remember him from the pics of Pezzy’s party.  so here is my bag:

i cute the circle shape from my wild card cartridge – it was a whole card but i cut the back off.  then i cut the circle with my George cartridge – nesties don’t go big enough so i am glad i have my cricut!  the glitter on the scallops is Cherry Ice Stickles – alot more bang for your buck in terms of sparkle compared to regular stickles BUT not as much color.  the tag is a spellbinders die.  the center of the bow is a poly clay button i made on top of a fabric yoyo i got on etsy – love those things!

i colored the image with copics.  he has a touch of spica glitter too.  i am not sure if he is an actual christmas pixie – i can’t remember – but i made him into one  

i am putting the finishing touches on another batch of ornaments – a super easy technique for quick ornaments but i think they are really cute *wink*  i sure hope y’all have time to come check them out!!

i want to start by taking a moment to recognize the fact that today is Veteran’s Day.  not only to thank all the folks who have or are risking their lives but to also thanks the families of those folks that stay here and “hold down the fort” while the soldiers are away and pick up the pieces when their sodlier comes home gravely injured.  i truly cannot imagine the strength it must take….

now onto an exciting tidbit of news – i have been asked to be a member of the Just Buggin’ cricut challenge design team!!!!   i have to say i am really excited about it!!  i have been using my cricut alot more lately and love the challenges samantha gives over there so it’s a perfect fit for me!  i love my cricut and hope you will join in if you have a cricut too!

now for my project – which has no cricut on it – AH HAHHAHAH!  but it does have cuttlebugging and a gigantic bow:

isn’t she sweet!!  she is also a pollycraft digi - i printed off a whole page of them   so you will see more!  i don’t think i have EVER doen the white core embossed cardstock thing and am not into core’dinations papers HOWEVER i do like how this turned out – makes me think rustic which goes well with a pixie/sprite i think!  and i used one of the new UK only cuttlebug embossing folders i won from the Cuttlebug Spot – i am SO SO happy with those folders!!

i colored her with Copics and added LOTS of sparkle with spica pens.  i am especially pleased with her wings.  dontcha love it when the *real life* version turns out just like you pictured in your head?  i gave her wings some very light shading in the green.  then i painted them with Pink Highlights Creative Inspirations shimmer paint – LOVE this stuff!  finally i traced over the swirls with a gold spica pen.  in real life they ahve just the right hints of green and pink along with loads of shimmery goodness!

well pezzy the wonder tot has been up since 5 am, i have done 2 loads of laundry and need to get my dishes washed and grocery list made so i better scoot!

SOOOOOOO maybe a totally and completely uncooperative 2 year old at the zoo was not the best idea i have had all year………..*sigh* here’s hoping this is a phase and not just her general personality…???  you know that frazzled mother you see dragging a screeching shreiking child around and you think awww that poor little girl what a bad mom…..yea that was me yesterday!  so maybe next year…..

anywho on to my project for today – it is a bit of a throwback to my pre-Copic days   really my pre-papercrafting days.  i  colored my main image with colored pencils – no gamsol – in the style i used to use in my artwork which you can see on the colored pencil artwork page on this blog.  I used the sketch this week over on Our Creative Corner:

I left off the strips behind the main panel because i just couldn’t seem to do anything i liked….my mojo was running a little low the last few days………
