JUST BUGGIN CHALLENGE 18 – in the shadows

ahhh winter – the wind is BLOWING HARD here – feels like bout -37 out tee heee!  pezzy & i were out in it running errands and i about FROZE over the weekend!  BUT i got to hit the big Ms to see what they had and scored series 39 from Studio G – no 38 though *crying real tears* i have an extra too – $16 plus tax & shipping if anyone wnts them!

my project today was SO SO much fun!  i hope all of you with cricuts can come join us over at just buggin for our weekly challenges!  be sure and stop over there to see what the other girls have come up with to help inspire you for our challenge too!

The challenge over on the Just Buggin challenge blog is in the shadows - use the shadow or black out feature on your cricut.  an esy one for me as i am constantly preching about the importanc eof the shadow feature – just really makes a difference with your cuts…much like inking edges of layers.   the best part is it satisfies one of the MANY swaps i have signed up for recently – CARD CANDY!!

i cut the two top scrolly hearts and the tag from the Weddings Solution cart – not just for weddings!!!  lots of great sweetheart stuff on there too!  the stamped images, stamped background on the bag topper and stamped border are all from my own exclusive Polkadot Pie Stamp Line –  chocolate treats sets 1 & 2 – out of stock at the moment but more are on the way!  they offer SO MUCH versatility!  Dontcha LOVE the flower soft *cake*!  i used lots of ice stickles and liquid pearls for embellishing, a few pezabling acrylic squares (new colors just arrived – look for those to go up soon!), and some glittered skittles.  all of these items are available in my online store >>CLICK HERE<<

The bow on the topper ws done with my bow easy – ctually does make bows really easy, especially double loop ones like i like.  you can get one at SCACD – i highly recommend it!

i have a few cards for you today all using the stamps i recently released that are made from drawings done by my brother – you can see them >>HERE<<.  these images are PERFECT for Tim Holtz-ish styled stamping & fun TH products:

This one was stamped in versamark and covered in Distress embossing powders.  i distressed all the edges with my paper distresser tool.

next up is my brother’s gorgeous christmas fireplace illustration stamp – again i stamped in versamark and used several distress embossing powders.

this last one is inked up with a few different colors of memento dew drops - with the shading built right in it is super easy to ink up a few different colors that follow the shading patterns, stamp and you’re done!

i STILL have a few of these beautiful stamps left in stock for some wow christmas cards for those who don’t always want to have to color in an image!  i am hoping to get time this weekend to use these with some of tim’s 12 tags tutorials he is doing right now!  are you doing them as well?  FUN! FUN STUFF!!

Better late than never triple play

still kickin’ over here!  whew – hubby said my blog was depressing this week – SORRY FOLKS!!!  i so don’t do sick well!  but i DID get some play time in this morning!  i stumbled across a GREAT challenge blog blog hop going on right now with TONS of ways to win prizes and loads of great ideas and inspiration – which i needed a TON of after not doing much this week!  today i am posting my first project for the hop.

i am actually satisfying three challenges in one – not sure if that makes me REALLY clever or REALLY lazy hahahhaha!!!  but it just worked so i went with it.  so here is the line up:

1. Sweet Dreamers #8 – Buttons

2. Chirpers Challenge blog hop challenge – (must incorporate cricut machine) – sweet, with glitter and stamping

3. Aly’s Sunday Challenge - a sketch (Aly is the ten year old daughter of one of the girls in teh Sweet Dreamers blog group and has MADE a card to go with the sketch!!)

And here is my take on these three challenges:

the overall card LO follows Aly’s setch.  for my buttons i have one at the peak on top of the card PLUS an embossed button border along the bottom.  For the Chirper Challenge i used a cupcake cut from Doodlecharms and then glittered everything up with stickles - i outlined the frosting with stickles, added stickles to the polka dots on the cupcake paper and then i also added stickles along several stripes on the top corners.  i have fruit punch on the pink stripes, crystal on the blue stripes and yellow on the yellow stripes.  the red frame piece is a square frame from wild card that i cut diagonally.  then i stamped a sweet treat border along the bottom above the buttons.  the border is done with my exclusive Polkadot Pie stamps - Chocolate Treates 1&2 – many of my stamp sets are made with interchangeable borders and mini accents to customize borders and backgrounds.  a couple chocolate drop glittered skittles finish of each corner.

the nestie, cupcake and frame cuts were already on my table from previous projects – they were extras so i was glad to find an opportunity to use them!

the challenge blog hop lasts until oct 1 – there are LOTS of different challenges so i am hoping i have another chance to get some done, though i doubt i will get to them ALL!  we’ll see!  you can go to the beginning by visiting Scrapsketch!

a mojo bday

happy tuesday all!  pezzy is in playschool this morning so that means i get an extra couple hours to myself!! 

i just gotta tell y’all something funny DH did/said while we were watching tv sunday night.   awhile back i made DH subscribe to my blog cuz i was having trouble with something and needed to run a test subscription.  it turns out he actually READS it!

well, i am AVID about crime drama – books, movies, tv shows – can’t get enough. always have been.  so USA channel was running an NCIS marathon this weekend and pezzy ACTUALLY went right to sleep so DH came back down and we got to watch a tv show together {rare}.  well on this particular NCIS a seriel killer was the main character and he kept a book with a photo of all of his vitims and referred to it as a scrapbook.  so after the umpteenth reference to the *scrapbook*he turns and looks at me and {totally straight face} says wow that is some lame scrapbook.  and i say yea cuz i mean – it’s murder victims right.  and HD says i mean he has no embellies or anything -ROTFL!  never did i think i would hear the word embellie come out of his mouth much less hear him use it correctly in a sentence!!  that’s the second time he’s done that!

and now on to the show….

 i got a project done yesterday cuz pezzy NAPPED!

i decided to do this week’s mojo monday sketch – i tend to stay away from circles.  they instantly scare me which is ridiculous since i have several nesties and a cricut.  i think it is a knee jerk reaction to my early days of limited supplies and never managing to cut a decent circle!  anyway i decided to jump right in:

i also avoid little strips that stop in the middle of the card because i can never think of a clever way to approach them but like i said – free time so i jumped in!    the party hat is from doodlecharms – cricut cart and i stickled it too.  man i love that thing!  it has been neglected for awhile but i have been incorporating it more lately since it is just so darn cool!  my SU demo has had one – an E no less – for months and it is still in the box!!!!  the horror!  i am supposed to go over tomorrow and show her how to use it.  i  edged EVERYTHING in rich cocoa – the card was really washed out without it!

the main image is from my Polka Dot Pie collection – Chocolate Treats 1.  i colored the frosting, pieced the wrapper and stickled the swirl.

of COURSE i used a few glittered skittles for the little accents!

 

this will go out to the next one up on my bday list.

look ma NO GLITTER! OR hey i did it again….!!

another male card! no glitter, no ribbons, no bling……
i stamped the cupcake from Polkadot Pie Chocolate Treats 1 with black memento ink twice, once on white and once on green patterned paper (from the DCWV sweet stack). i colored the top of the white one with copics and cut out the paper cup from the patterned one and glued it to the white one. i made the border with the coordinating images included in the Treats 1 set. the blocks are all one border and i stamped that in Memento Pear Tart (15% off right now). next i took the matching mini cupcake and stamped it in memento rich cocoa in the spaces between each block. i love that i can turn this block border into lots of different matching borders with these sets.

i edged everything with the same two memento inks using the foam ink blening tool - i LOVE this thing. i love how smooth it puts the ink on – it makes the papers almost glow!
