A cherry on top (and not the store!)

hi everyone!

wow so where did THIS day go?!?!?!  i usually do my posts first thing in the morning!  We spent a good bit of the day running errands BLECH!  none to anywhere real fun…you know like Joanns…

but i DO have a fun post for ya today!  i got a chance to play with one of my fave new Artful INKables sets – Spot On Summer – this set uses little buttons as part of the images – i just LOVE that!  If you have not checked out the cute sets over at Artful Inkables head on over!!!

And here is my card – simple and fun i think!

I used some paper from a K&Co paper pad and a couple of border punches.

I stamped and colored my ice cream cone and then added a bright red button in the place of the cherry tied with some embroidery floss.  The sentiment is also from this same set.

i finished it off with some sparkling red Pezabling square acrylic pieces and a glittering red skittle.

Studio G Challenge #18

WOW!!!  the response to the skittles yesterday was phenomenal!  i am SO glad everyone is excited about them like i am!  so apparently i need to give a set away! and sooooooo:

i went to my SU tech club meeting last night and we did THE NEATEST thing with reinkers – a super easy way to produce a watercolored effect.  i will post about it soon and show everyone what stacy taught us!

today is the LAST DAY for the current studio G challenge over on PCP – it is a sketch challenge and i am FINALLY getting my card done! 

 

 

 

 

 

Now this is pre – new skittles so no sample but i will have those tomorrow for the NEW skittle challenge so BE SURE to come back and check it out!

does anyone else find it difficult to just LEAVE large blank spaces on their cards??  as i made this i really struggled with the blank space but i also did not want the card getting to busy.  which is funny because i still love all of the very first cards i ever made and boy talk about lots of blank space!  but i resisted the urge so the focus could stay on the main image.  i DID feel a bit better when i put the large red pezabling acrylic squares on hee heee!

my image is a studio G of course from a past set.  i stamped with memento black so i could color it in with my copics.  although studio Gs don’t work with most dye inks they do fairly well with mementos.  i also edged the main panel and DSP with memento tangelo. 

Now back to the challenge – there is a new challenge every other sunday and there is always a prize!  this time around the prize is sponsored by Hampton Arts!!!  and last time i checked there were only a few entries so your odds of winning are pretty good!!!

i plan to have everyone’s orders fro new skittle sout today as well as a few remaining orders left from the big sale that were missing a few stickles…..that sale sure cleaned me otu of stickles hee ehee!  and maybe, just maybe, i will even get some playtime!

CC238 & ASC2:Sweet Christmas

WOW has the air gotten crisp here in Northern VA!!  I LOVE it!  oh i will be whinin’ for summer again soon enough but for now i am thrilled for the change!  fall and spring are my fave times of year.  i am SO itchin’ to start the halloween decorating but have been forcig myself to wait until it is actually october hee heee!  this will be the first eyar pex will really *know* what’s going on.  i can’t WAIT to do the trip out to pick pumpkins and hunt for gourds.  we tried it last year and it was a MONSTROUS disaster.  she gave new meaning to the word nightmare complete with throwing herself down on the dirt wailing and refusing to move and nearly falling out of the hayride.  crossing my fingers that this year she will *get it* a little more and be more fun!

now onto the good stuff!

Our challenge this week in the Sweet Dreamers group was to use the second installment over on Aly’s Sunday Sketch blog.  Who is Aly?  The incredibly talented 10 year old daughter of one of the group members.  she has decided she wants to do a skethc challenge every other Sunday AND she does a sample too – and let me tell ya she is good!!  and so are her sketches!

So here is what she gave us to work with.

 

And here is mine:

i used the color combo on SCS yesterday – Pretty In Pink, Sage Shadow and Going Gray and decided to do a non-traditional Christmas card with one of my favorites of the stamps my mom has done for me – Pine Cone Scrolls.  i think these colors are AMAZEing together!  and the glittery pink pezabling acrylic squares matched up just right too!  i used my cricut for the poinsettia and the *joy* which i accented with silver liquid pearls.

i did the main image in distress embossing powder – i asked my mom to design this stamp specifically with embossing in mind.

now off to make grocery lists and clean cat water dishes – GLAMorous  let me tell ya!!

Challenge Blogs Blog Hop take 2

Good morning!  well we were hoping for some sun today so we could all take off to the farm or a park or something but no such luck – so instead we are heading into town and i convinced hubby we need to stop at Cold Stone Creamery for some ice cream cupcakes.  my neighbor has been telling me about them for weeks and says they are TO DIE FOR!!

i have another project for the Challenge Blogs Blog Hop today!  This one incorporates 2 challenges:

1. Creative Twist - Down n Dirty: LO involving getting dirty

2. Practical Scrapper - Use diecuts: any die cuts, any type of machine.

I really got excited when i read the Down N Dirty challenge because i JUST took a bunch of pictures of Pezzy where she was a FILTHY FILTHY mess from head to toe:

Daddy built her a playset which she ADORES.  She spent about a week covering it with chalk – WET chalk – because chalk works so much better wet.  Of course in the process she also ended up covering HERSELF in a nice coating of chalk with some dirt mixed in!

i used a Page Maps sketch (as always) and some adorable Prima papers i picked up at my LSS.  My die cuts are the lettering which i did on my cricut and the felt die cuts which i purchased at asecinc on Etsy (etsy is THE VERY best place to go for fun and unique embellies!)  now could i have made them myself – OF COURSE but frankly i run out of time and plus i love to help out a fellow crafter!  as a finishing touch i added several of my skittle bugs and then a row of bright green Pezabling acrylic squares across the bottom.  AGAIN pretty simplified but HEY at least i am gettin a LITTLE crafty!!!  here are some close ups of the cute little skittle bugs:

SC247 Itty Bitty Betty Witchy Poo

Well crawling out of the sick-o stupor a bit today – it has moved down from my heaad and throat to my throat and chest.  FABulous!  but at least it means my brain is in somewhat working order.  so far only 1 of the 3 insurance adjusters has made an appearance – lame. so i suppose i will be chasing them down tomorrow – i tell ya knee deep in fun over my way folks! but i DID get a little crafty this morning!!!

have you SEEN the new Pink Cat Studio Digi site?????  SUHweeeeeeeet!!!  MAIN reason i like digis – usually cheaper!  PCS is not a whole lot cheaper BUT you get to pick each character – sometimes in groups i like 2 of the 4 images or something but i have to buy them all ya know! 

anywho i narrowed down my choices to 2 and i used todays sketch over on SCS.  it worked out just perfect for the adorable little Itty Bitty Betty in her Witch Costume:

 

 

 

I didn’t get too fancy with this one as i am still reeling a bit from being sick but i still think it turned out cute!  the stripe paper is VERY shimmery – i just love it.  it is by reminisce but i have no idea if it is current or old….the purple panel is SEI velvet which i just LOVE using on anything *cool weather* like halloween, fall, christmas…..i just had to add the little froggy – one of my all time fave cuts from y paper dolls cricut cartridge – a great one for halloween stuff.

i colored IBB with copics. her purple hatband is colored in with Creative Inspirations Shimmer paints.  i added some Glossy Accents to the frog’s eyes and her pumpkin bucket and boy it really adds to the image – my buddy suzanne does it all the time and i usually forget.

i also couldn’t resist giving her an extra little friend – one of my exclusive skittle spiders – love those little eyeballs!  they crack me up EVERY time!

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

i wanted to give a quick close up of the Pezabling i added in various places around the card – these all come from the Spooky Mix and made for the perfect little extra!

and now i am going to attempt to actually make some dinner – i haven’t cooked in like THREE days! EGADS!

i sure hope i wake up feeling even a little more well tomorrow!!
