spring hopping with the bug! & a truffle too!

hello!!!

who is ready for spring???  me FOR SURE!!  and so is the rest of the Just Buggin design team so we decided to hop right into spring with a spring themed blog hop!

i bet y’all had no idea i could get that corny did ya???  hahhahaha!

As for me i just couldn’t resist playing with my 12 x 24 patterned pad and creating another gift bag!

i cut the gift bag/purse using the Tags, Bags, Boxes & More Cartridge at 8.5″.  the large pad is a vailable at michaels.  it is somewhat different than the usual cardstock we all love to use – a glossy finish and somewhat thinner thn i prefer – but it works very well for large projects like this.  When you first peel it off the mat you have to be careful not to rip it and it rolls up quite a bit.  but once i put my project together it is perfectly fine and really quite sturdy!

the dragonflies on the front are the cutouts from a Pagoda Cartridge card i did (yes the one you got  sneak peak of yesterday after it had been “re-styled in the Pezza way” – her words not mine)  I covered the wings in lime green and fruit punch stickles and then ran yellow liquid pearls down the bodies.  i lined the front of the bag with grss green glittered skittles (of course – my fave embellie), stuffed in some tissue paper and tied it close with theis crazy polka dot glittered ribbon i ran across in michaels.  a really fun way to pack up a gift dontcha think???

TIOT: Box It Up!

anyone else’s tday leftovers dwindling?  they sure don’t last long around here! 

What a fun project Suzanne challenged us with for Try It Out Tuesday over on my very dear friend Susana’s SCACD store blog – we had to make some treat boxes/bags/holders.  i LOVE making these AND i got to experiment a bit with me E and new cart – Sweet Treats.  i plan on making 15 or so treat bags for various folks to hold my hand decorated christmas cookies.  so this was a perfect opportunity to try out a few ideas:

This one is empty now but it will contain a bag of goodies once Christmas gets closer – most probably for Pezzy’s little friend next door – a total princess so she will love the girly-ness!  the bag itself is super simple – take a 12×12 piece of cardstock and cut it into 4″ strips, score at 4.5″ and 6.5″.  next cut a piece of coordinating cardstock 4″x3″ and cut one edge with a border punch if you want – his piece will be your fold over flap – score it 1.5″ from the decorative edge.  Attach it to the shorter back piece so it folds over the front.  punch two holes through the top for your ribbon tie! i also cute a 1.5″ strip to go around the bottom.

My main image is an adorable stamp called BFFs from SCACD – part of the Winter Wonderland series of samps done exclusively for SCACD by Victoria Case.  i stamped her with Memento Tuxedo Black ink & colored her with my copics and then added in some sparkling accents with Spica glitter pens.  i finished her off by adding some white sparkly fluff in a few spots – her cuff and collar, the cuff of the stocking, the bottom edge of her nightie and her fluffy little slippers – this stuff is the bomb – JUST like soft velvet!

i cut her out with Spellbinders curved rectangles and edged it with Brilliance Pearlescent Pink ink.  i accented the ribbon on top by tying it with some scrappers floss and threading seed beads on the ends!

as i said i was happy to do a little experimenting with boxes so i made ANOTHER ONE:

i made this on my new cricut E using the Sweet Treats cartridge!  i have to say it is not like using the baby bug except it cuts bigger.  this thing has way more features plus i do not have a feel for the best blade settings like with my baby – had it for more than 2 years!  anyway i was thumbing through the handbook and this little favor box caught my eye and i decided to make the party hat into a Christmas Tree.  i gave them some seed bead garland and liquid pearl ornaments.  i also cut little windows using the scallop oval nestie, i always feel they need a frame so i just cut out a second oval using two nesties at once. 

I finished off with a couple adorable Lockhart Itty Bitty stamps.  aren’t they too cute!  i stamped them in Memento Rich Cocoa and colored them with copics.  i cut them out with the plain circle nestie and edged them with Brilliance Pearlescent Ink.  i put litle squares of acrylic from the backs of some of my studio G stamps over the windows so the candies wouldn’t fall out!

hi all!!!

ahh the fun of christmas crafting – an excuse to make everything as glittery as possible right?  i always have so many things planned to do AND everything has to be shipped so no waiting til the last minute.  that being said my posts may get a bit sparse as i get some of the bigger projects done on way too little time!

the two biggest things on my agenda are some very large canvases – kits i picked up from quick quotes at CKC over the summer and a digi calendar.  plus the usual christmas ornaments for everyone (nearly done), and then various gift sets and such – preschool class, teachers, and small things for various folks….so i will show them as i get them done but some, like the canvases, will take some time.  plus i want to get some winter hats crocheted for pezzy and some clay embellies made….the list never ends!

OK before we get on to the project today i have a WINNER TO ANNOUNCE!!!  it seems the perfect pearl UTEE sandwich was the favorite, which is funny sine that is not even the technique i was supposed to be focusing on but sometimes it’s good to just go with the flow!  here is the random drawing:

i have a christmas gift bag for you today.

i used Melissa’s sketch over at Tuesday Morning Sketches.  i also colored up another of my Pollycraft Digis - the challenge over there is anything but a card.  i have to say, as i was coloring this image i could not help but think how much this little pixie looks like my friend, Amy Sheffer’s son Gabriel - you may remember him from the pics of Pezzy’s party.  so here is my bag:

i cute the circle shape from my wild card cartridge – it was a whole card but i cut the back off.  then i cut the circle with my George cartridge – nesties don’t go big enough so i am glad i have my cricut!  the glitter on the scallops is Cherry Ice Stickles – alot more bang for your buck in terms of sparkle compared to regular stickles BUT not as much color.  the tag is a spellbinders die.  the center of the bow is a poly clay button i made on top of a fabric yoyo i got on etsy – love those things!

i colored the image with copics.  he has a touch of spica glitter too.  i am not sure if he is an actual christmas pixie – i can’t remember – but i made him into one  

i am putting the finishing touches on another batch of ornaments – a super easy technique for quick ornaments but i think they are really cute *wink*  i sure hope y’all have time to come check them out!!

flower soft friends!

we had a baby shower of one of the ladies in Pezzy’s playgroup (more are pregnant than not right now in that group) and so of course i made a bag for our gift! and Julee’s Mojo sketch was perfect for some thing big – lots of fun layers and things going on!!

i decided to experiment a bit with an idea i had for the flower soft and i am quite pleased! FUZZY ADORABLE LITTLE BABY ANIMALS!!!

the paper is from DCWV – nana’s nursery baby boy stack and SU Rainbow Sherbet and solids are SU. i punched the border design with one of my new EK success slimline punches – OH what a dream! not onle are they cute and not only do they store flat they punch SUPER easy too.

The baby buggy is one of my first stamp sets and is from doodlebug and the buttons are SEI.

i cut these little cuties out using the new arrival cricut cart that i just HAD to have and have not used. the first thing i learned is that it works ALOT better to do the pearl accents first – i used liquid pearls and dimensional pearls – and let them dry. next i just covered them in flower soft glue (not over the pearls of course) and then dumped on the flower soft and tapped it gently into the glue.

LOVE them!!

i used colors from the pastel flower soft kit for these.

Vase full of flowers – tutorial

hi all! i finally have another flower soft tutorial for you!!! this gorgeous vase full of flowers AND it fits into my no coloring week pledge too!

These are SUPER easy to do – several kits come with everything you need – the Starter Box and the Lavender & Lace Box OR you can buy various vase sheets, wires and glue to go with the other kits.

make your flower stems first so they have time to dry. place some flower soft in the jar lids so you can fluff it up. cover about 2/3 of the wire with the PVA glue. sprinkle flower soft all over the wire and then prop it up to dry. some kits come with sponges or you can use a piece of styrofoam.

cut out your vase – i left a little tab on each side to make it easy to glue down. cut your wire into pieces sized for the vase or pot you are using.

roll your vase around a pen to round it out a bit.

add a dab of glue to each tab and glue the vase to your base piece of cardstock being careful to slightly round it so you can place your flower wires inside.

Once the flower stems are dry group them together in a bunch arranging them how you want and add glue to the bare ends.

here is the vase with the newly added stem. press down a bit on the vase to be sure the glue and wires are touching paper. let dry.

once it is dry you can bend and twist the wires anyway you want. the flower soft glue holds the sprinkles on really well. i bent these with my fingers but you could also use a pair of needle nose pliers to really curl them into a fuller bunch. if you have any noticeable bare spots on your wires just add a bit more glue and flower soft.

i had seen these for the last year on the flower soft website but thought they were much more complicated until i sat in the booth at CHA and made some myself – SO easy!!!!!
