Creative Inspirations Challenge – a berry sweet LO

i’m back!  hahahhaha!

i am trying to get back on track here with my morning posts!  then some computer work while pezzy is at school – good thing i have a few young & restless episodes on the DVR to catch up on!  i KNOW soaps are ridiculous and they irk me with their total non-sensical story lines but oh so addicting.  i started watching it with my grandma decades ago and have wtched on nd off for years.  since the DVR came to live with us i have been getting back into it again!

i have a fun LO for you today!

today is Creative Inspirations challenge day!  i challenged the DT (team A) to an icing on the cake challenge - meaning they had to use the super shimmery CI paints on their embellishments.  so here is MINE:

i am EXACTLY ONE YEAR BEHIND on my scrapbooking ACK!  these were taken on mother’s day last year!  i absolutely love them!  she has on this CA-YUTE little strawberry dress.  the large pic is jazzed up via some tutorials in a jessica sprague class i took – HIGHLY recommend her!!!  the paper is Berry Sweet by K&Co – LOVE this pad!!  the spellbinder accents and tim holtz alterations border piece are also papers from the same pad.  the mothers day title is another spellbinders die – i inked it up a bit with the CI Garnet paint and a sponge dabbber to give it some shimmer.  the stamp is a studio G OF COURSE.  i cut the phrase from the Alphalicious cricut cartridge.

i used this sketch from page maps - my FAVE:

as you can see i tweaked it a little to sit my needs but that’s what’s so great about sketches!

I cut the strawberries from the Hello Kitty Cricut Cartridge.  Then i painted them with garnet and evergreen CI paints – they are SO SHIMMERY!

I also added some little white primas to mimic the strawberry plant’s flowers.  these are embossed so i added some Pink Highlights CI paint to the raised portions.  this color is a wonderful pure shimmer thta glows pink when the light hits it!

you can really see the shimmery goodness in this pic!

i printed out a bunch of pics so i can try and get caught up at least a little bit!  i printed out the may page maps and will be using those. makes it so easy!  i use photoshop elements to size and /or crop them to the dimensions shown in the sketch.  then i open a word document and just insert them all and print.

Be sure to check out all the DT creations!!

Creaative Inspirations: shimmer time again!

WOOHOOO the weekend is almost here!  happy thursday!  nyone else as ready as i am??  i get loads more done on the weekends while hubby plays with pezzy.  and THIS weekend we will also be going to hang out at the Leesburg garden show – love it!

so anyone else REALLY love cupcakes like me???  cupcakes have had such a huge surge in popularity – not just in the stamping world but with specialty cupcakeries popping up all over.  well hubby did something amazing yesterday….he showed up with THIS:

if you love cake you KNOW what Red Velvet is – quite possibly the best cake on earth though the only one i have ever liked is the one i make from scratch with a family recipe…so what was inside?

quite possibly THE most incredibly delicious cupcakes i have EVER put in my mouth!  turns out the Red Velvet Cupcakery shop is just a couple blocks from the site hubby is on right now in DC.  while i DID love the red velvet cupcake he brought for me i must say the key lime he got for himself was TO DIE FOR!!

ok onto the real story!  i have a super shimmery Creative Inspirations post for you today.  i have to say i just LOVE using these paints!  i challenged the Design Team with a sketch this week and they did an incredible job with it!!!  here is mine:

let me just take a moment to say i LOVE my cricut…..i cut those green leaf-like swirls with the Storybook cartridge (a must have) and accented them with a white pen.  The border punch is an old one from fiskars.

here is a closer look at my lil’ flower.  isn’t she spaaaaaarkly?!?!  you should see it in real life!!!

i started with a plain white Prima flower.  then i took 3 shades of purple – light purple, amethyst & royal purple and my Fantastix applicator (still using the same one) to jazz it up.  I put a watered down wash of light purple on the bototm layer, amethyst on the middle layer and royal purple on the top center layer.  the embossed ridges on this flower adds to the effect even more!

the other DT members did an incredible job with the sketch.  be sure to check them out on the CI blog - so many wonderful different ways to use these shimmery paints!

it is looking like another beautiful day out today so i hope to have time in the yard with pezzy this afternoon – still have work to do out there!  i hope some of you are having some great outdoor weather too for spring!

it is another GORGEOUS morning here in northern VA!  tho i hear there is rain on the way this afternoon.  which is actually good – saves me the trouble of watering all my new planitings AND keeps me stuck in the house so i can get some inside stuff done.  and let me just say my family room needs it BADLY.  seriously NOT GOOD!!!!

so yesterday i posted  apic of my new fave book Hello Cupcake.  well when i went on amazon to get the pic i saw there was a new one out – Whats Up Cupcake:

Cover Image
Y’AAAAALLLLLLLLL!!!!!!!!!!!  is that too cute?????  and then i was in the super walmart and SPOTTED IT – well it HAD to come home with me.  especially once pezzy saw it.  she has looked at it and looked at it.  my fave is one that looks like a serving of chinese food with fake brocoli made from candy *swoon*  too MUCH!!!!!!
ok ON with the papercrafts!

My project today is for the following challenges:

i {heart} to stamp – sketch (my main image is so large i left off the verticla panel
creative card crew – vintage

today is a big day on the Creative Inspirations blog – we are showcasing the first creations from the second half of the DT girls – again i gave them all a color challenge – yellow, green & lavendar.  here is my piece:

this was WAY fun – i had no plan when i started.  i took a piece of cardstock and misted it well with water.  then i randomly stroked on some CI paints – med & light purple, canary, buttercup, sage & evergreen.  then i pisted some more and sort of mixed the paints and water so they flowed randomly.  i used a paper towel edge to soak up where there was too much water so my colors didn’t mix and make mud.  Next i cut the piece with one of the new Tim Holtz Sizzix Alterations dies.  I inked the edges well with Brilliance Chcolate ink and then distressed with my TH edge distresser.

and when you turn the card a bit you see this:

SWEET!!!  my main image is from great impressions i think.  I just inked it up with a few of the same CI paint colors and sponge daubers – work fast – and then stamped.  next i inked the edges and distressed just like the bottom panel and the patterned paper panel.  i dug around and came up with a few embellies that i thought fit and TA-DA!  what do ya think???  i SO love collage stamps!

and now we got to get moving for school!

be sure to stop over at the CI blog and give the other designers a big welcome!

updates, news, exciting stuff!

good MORNING!!!

i am HOME!  we got in VERY VERY late last night – it was well after 1am when i went to sleep and i am SO not a night person so i am a little off my game this morning – even slept in til 6!!!! ACK!  i have no projects to share but do have some tidbits i wanted to be sure to touch on today.

Through the Craft Room Door magazine updates!  the first issue is COMING!  however it is not going to hit your door step today like we had hoped – being the first issue and all there were kinks and bumps along the way as we worked with our publisher but they are working hard on it so expect it next week!!!!  we also FAR surpassed our initial subscriptions estmate and had to up our quantities to cover them all!

the website will go live tomorrow – my lack of internet and traveling yesterday has left me with a few things i need to polish up before we reveal it to you!  but i am SO excited about it!  i know you’ll love it!

Creatve Inspirations shimmering paints DT maiden post!

our first ever CI paint design team post is up on the CIDT blog and I must say i am SO proud of all the projects from the team!  i encourage you to hop on over and check them out – the paints are SO easy to use and give such amazing results and the team really rocked the challenge i gave them.  to celebrate spring i asked them to do a color challenge – yellow, lavendar and green.  it is one of my FAVES!

Studio G update

now that i have a bit of time i can tell you my plans for the new studio G sets coming.  i will NOT be doing the usual pre-orders like i have in the paast BUT i WILL be taking orders with a deposit – this way i can be sure to order enough for everyone but i will not require payment until they are actually here.  as usual each collection of clear stamps comes with a variety of other items – the usual wood stamps, ink pads and glitter glues plus something NEW:

These coordinate with the birdcage collection due out at the end of November

Mini notebooks

Mousepad jotters - paper for notes that doubles as a mousepad!

Stationary complete with matching envelopes AND envelope seals!

now i admit when i first saw these i thought AW how cute but why would i want them…and then it occurred to me – how cute would it be to make a little gift set with the matching staps and inks that included these items as part of the gift?  doesn’t get quicker or easier than that!  so i will be ordering a limited number of these to *test* and see how y’all feel about them – IF YOU REALLY like them you may want to let me know so i can guage interest!  there are the same items in the Sweets collection AND the Bohemian collection.  Bohemian is THE SAME AS LAST YEAR’S BOHEMIAN so i do not think i will be ordering the stanps unless i get requests.  HOWEVER if you would like the coordinating items i might order those if anyone is interested.

FINALLY i COMPLETELY redid the studio G reference gallery!  the pictures are FAR BETTER (nd took quite a bit of begging & pleading to finally get!)  i hear i left out series 3 so i will correct that and add the series numbers for the last few in the next couple days.

i hve been told there was a LEAK on the Above Rubies Studio blog  ACK!  if you are a cricut fanatic like me you will want to run over there and see what it is all about!  i have to say i AM THRILLED about being a part of all the fun brewing up over there!!!

and now i am off to put my house back in order and run some errands – we have little food and i hear series 40 has been spotted at Michaels!!!

have a WONDERFUL day!

SCACD is back!

hi everyone!

i wanted to pop in with a quick post to let you know tht Susana’s Custom Art & Card Design (SCACD) is open again after Susana’ s much needed vacation!

blog tag

our challenge from Suzanne was to create an easter or spring gift so here is a lil’ something i did for Pez to give to my mom for easter with another of the adorbale Victoria Case stamps exclusive to Susana’s Store:

Isn’t she too sweet?!?!  i distressed my edges with my tim holtz tool.  the strips are done with alcohol inks from the Lights Collection – i LOVE the new options I have since the Brights & Lights came out.  My little eggs are cut with the Easter mini cartridge for the Cricut.  Before cutting i took out a white piece of paper, a few small pieces of natural sea sponge and several Creative Inspirations Paints.  i had a sponge for each color paint i was using.  i dipped the sponge into the paint, dabbed a few times on my craft sheet so i wouldn’t have a big glob, and then dabbed it over my paper to create a shimmering mottled pattern.  i did two colors on one piece of paper and two colors on another – then cut an egg from each.  next i free handed the lines using Viva Decor Cream Pearl Pen and also added Pearl Pen to the flower center and used it for the 3 pearls along the top edge.  the purple Prima rose bud is sititng on a crocheted circle i did myself.

i stamped Little Aud with memento black ink and colored her with Copics.  I used the Spellbinders Labels 10 to cut out the image and then edged it with brown ink using the ranger foam ink blending tool.  i gve the bunnies little tail a bit of white poof with liquid applique - love that stuff!

Susana lso has a bunch of new stuff in the store - Zva Creative, NEW basic grey (and they are GOOD), copic multiliners and Our Craft Lounge Stamps!

Be sure to check in here tomorrow – i will have some adorable pics and some studio G news!
