TIOT: so ready for spring!

Good Morning!

I am off to a VERY slow start this morning but i am finally here to share my TIOT project with you today. I got out my Viva Decor Modeling Cream and played around with it – LOVE that stuff!!! it is just deeLISH!

I have really been wanting to play with some of the Inkadinkado sets Susana brought in so i pulled out the Spring Garden Inchies set and stamped 3 of them in a square leaving the fourth corner open for a flower. I chose a super looking over-the-top flower – a Prima Roosevelt Delano.

for the background I began by taking a white piece of paper and the Harlequin Crafters Workshop Stencil. I simply laid the stencil over my paper and smoothed on the modeling cream. You must work quickly but not sloppily! hold the stencil down so it doesn’t pull up when you lift your spreader (i use a plastic, wide painting knife i found in the art section). Once you have covered the stencil lift it up and you have this gorgeous pearlescent embossed background:

You can see from the close up what a crisp edge i get – i just LOVE that! i also covered a Maya Road Chipboard swirl with modeling cream and a sponge dabber – gives it a great slight texture. You can see it peeking out from beneath the flower.

So what do you think? Have YOU used the Modeling Cream yet? How about the Stencils – you NEED these for sure! and just think of all the things you can do with those cute Inkadinkado Inchies sets!  And now it’s back to work for me!!!

SC310 & TIO*T*: wrapping it up!

hi all!

so who is readyf or christmas????  NOT ME!  but i am getting there.  Pezza and i have finallized our christmas cookie list – we will be making 6 different kinds of cookies plus peanut butter chocolate balls (hubby’s favorite).  i still have to finish sewing my mom’s gift, put the finishing touches on my teacher gifts (3 of them) and make my MIL’s gift.  and just two weeks to go!  i think hubby is going to try and get his christmas shopping done tomorrow.  trevor never uses his closet so i have been stuffing all of pezza’s gifts in there.  last night he says um…..why do i have a pile of toys in my closet and where did they come from?  i said DUH santa stuff!!!  helloooooo!  pezza was behaving BEYOND hideously yesterday in walmart but then she got concerned an elf might see her a nd report her so she straightened up – and the santa blackmail is finally sinking in YAY!!!

now on to why you are really here!!!  i have a how to video for ya at the end!!!

for TIO*T* this week for Susana’s Custom we get to do anything our little heart’s desire – fun fun! susana now has the sets of Ranger’s Perfect Pearls mica powders in the store and i am a TOTAL perfect pearls-aholic and BAD! if you have not played with these you are missing out! of course i have been working feverishly on christmas gifts for folks and realized i need gift bags too! so that’s what i did today and have a video for you to go along with it!!!

i used yesterday’s Splitcoast Stampers challenge sketch for the layout:

i have used a number of products and techniques for this one. it is for Pezza’s teacher’s gift – she is a paper crafter and Close to my Heart rep so the pressure is on! hahhha!!

The great big awesome bow was done using the Bow Easy.

My background was on plain white paper. I started by using shimmering mists. first mist the whole paper with a pale colorless shimmering mist – you can use Tsukineko psst shimmer gold OR make your own using perfect pearls powder and water in a mini mister. Next choose TWO crafter’s workshop stencils. Lay your fisrt one down on your paper and choose a COLORED shimmering mist – you can use Maya Mist, Smooch Spritz OR make another one of your own using Perfect Pearls, water and a few drops of reinker in a mini mister. Now mist LIGHTLY and from a bit of a distance so you get a fine mist and down cause the stencil to shift. you also don’t want to mist heavily enough to soak your paper and blur your stencil image. i gave mine a few mists and let it dry in between so my stencil image showed up nicely. For the next step you need your second stencil and Viva Decor modeling cream – positively amazing stuff!!! for this one i used two different colors over my stencil to get a marbled effect. i LOVE the look i get with this – the softness of the shimmering mist background agains the crispness of the modeling cream design and all the gorgeous shimmer of all three layers are just GORGEOUS!

My focal panel is another way to use perfect pearls. it is SO simple and SO pretty! I took two Lockhart Itty Bitty stamps and stamped one randomly using versamark. i brushed over it with forever blue perfect pearls powder. Next i stamped randomly using the second image and versamark and then brushed over it with green patina perfect pearls. i took a large soft brush and brushed over the image panel vigorously to remove the excess powder. Mist VERY lightly with water to SET your image and it won’t rub off!

TIOT recipe challenge

good morning!!!

Pezza had her first day fo school yesterday – loved it OF COURSE.  remember this is the kid who at 2 was throwing a fit because i never let her go to school and i never let her go to daycare

she is determined to grow her bangs out so she looks like a ragamuffin and yes i know her socks don’t match.  the child flat refuses to wear matching socks and i figure i have bigger more important battles to worry about KWIM???

i loved reading the comments left regarding my disaster of a studio.  and yes it was a purple/plum colored LARGE mug on the edge of the table by the window – y’all are good!  i would post finished pics except it is still not finished   but i DO have a winner of that fantastic book from CQ Products!!!

VERNETTA!!!  congrats my friend!  i have actually been meaning to email you anyway   i know you’ll have fun with the book!

my organization bug went on vacation yesterday…hoping it is planning on reappearing today….i am certainly not done…

Paperplay – Autumn color scheme

suzanne challenged us to use 2 store products, 2 papers, and 2 embellishments so here is what i have some up with (no stamp but pretty just the same!!!)

my 2 papers come from the amazing Basic Grey Capella 6×6 pad - such soft romantic colors! then i made my third panel using the Flower Frenzy crafters workshop stencil and the gorgeous new colors coming to the Perfect Pearls family. susana should have these in stock for you very soon! the technique i used is part of a new video i will be posting here tomorrow! it shows lots of different things you can do with the Crafter’s Workshop stencils. the little chipboard bird is part of the Birds with Cages Maya Road mini chipboard set – these little sets make such handy embellishments. he is also covered with mica powder but he has Dreamweavers mica powder on him. and that super luscious flower? a new prima from the Roosevelt Collection - LOVIN these!

Susana has been adding new goodies to the store like crazy – be sure and check it all out!

in the garden

hi all!

well classes are under way and going well over on Color Me Creative!  If you were not able to join in but want to just remember you can join at any time – it is completley self paced!

i won’t be chattin’ today as i am heading to the airport to get trev, he has been in san diego visiting his dad.  we are very happy to have him back and he has a busy rest of the summer in store.  he wants to begin working on his diving certification PLUS he has to get back to work if he still remembers how to do his job!!

so let’s get into my project for ya today!

suzanne gave us girls a sketch to work with this week and i really liked it! all of the girls have done some wonderful things with it! i REALLY love the Collage Stamps susana has in the store from I Brake For Stamps so i used one of those for both my patterned paper and my focal image:
i have had an idea for the Crafter’s Workshop templates in the store for awhile and i finally got a chance to play with them a little bit on this card. i started with off white paper and stamped my collage image on it but did not cover it completely. Next i laid a crafter’s workshop template over it and misted LIGHTLY from a dsitance with Maya Mist - i think the effect is gorgeous! and quite simple too! also because i misted so lightly there was very little drying time for this! I also misted some of the white flowers susana has in the same way. It paired up perfectly with a piece from the Kraft Basic Grey pad.

My focal image is the same collage stamp which i cut out using a circle nestie and then mounted on the Eyelet Pendant. i added a prima pearl center to my flower grouping and then added some Viva Decor Cream Pearl Pen pearls around the Pendant. i finished up with 3 Robin’s Nest Diamond Drops at the top center of the card.

The Maya Mists and Crafter’s Workshop templates offer such a HUGE amount of creative freedom! i just LOVE them!

Susana is greatly increasing the altering fun over at the store and has created a section just for that so be sure to keep an eye on it as new products are added and we all stretch our creativity to the MAX!

In addition we have some FUN goings on tomorrow so we will surely SEE YOU THEN!!!

a little pop of color!

hi all!!!

is anyone else going to be heading to CHA??  i am really down to the wire getting everything ready now.  i will be working part of every day in the Viva Decor booth – i have some really fun make n takes planned so if you are going to be at either the trade show or the Super Show i hope you will stop by and introduce yourself!!!  Suzanne (Scrapbitz) and i will be heading out together as usual and meeting up with terri (Stamps Alive) once there.  we make a great little group!  suzanne and i had dinner tuesday night – it is always good to hang out with her!

and speaking of Viva Decor today is my day to post my project for Susana’s Custom Art & Card Design - THE place for a wide variety of Viva Decor products. 

i was stumped on what i wanted to do for this challenge for a bit – clean and simple, all white, one pop of color….while i love this look i have a hard time creating it myself! BUT i had this adorable bright blue dress hanging around and so i decided to make it my pop of color:
to accentuate my white layers i used embossing. first with a crafter’s workshop template on the bottom layer (yes you can use the templates to emboss in your cuttlebug – see the video HERE), and then with a spellbinders pendant die. i used a pretty white iridescent ribbon and big white rose too.

Now this little blue dress – isn’t it FAB?!?!?!?! it is from one of the maya road mini chipboard sets – Laundry. How did i get it so blue and so shimmery? it’s easy with yet another amazing product from Viva Decor – Inka Gold. what is it exactly? it is a creamy consistency and very metallic. it has amazing coverage on all types of pourous surfaces. i simply got some on my finger and smoothed it all over the chipboard in a thin layer working quickly. then set it aside for a few minutes to “set-up” or stiffen. it will have a slightly sticky feeling. next take a paper towel and buff it – this gets rid of the stickiness and gives a high shine metallic finish like no other. i wish i had words to describe this incredible stuff! it is most amazing on wood – no sanding or priming necessary! it gives a perfectly smooth finish. i accented the dress with Ice White Pearl Pen.

i encourage you all to try this stuff out – it is awesome!!! i have not been able to get enough of it since i brought it home with me from CHA!
