Mojo Monday: a little note

good morning!!!

wow! has it really been a WEEK since i last posted???  i guess time flies when you’re having fun!  i have been working myself to death!  luckily i love my work!  i have all sorts of news to share with you today so grab a cuppa coffee and let’s go!

Magazine

Our latest issue of Through the Craft Room Door is at the printers and soon on it’s way to mailboxes.  i LOVE this one – so much info, great projects and best of all a wee bit of a facelift.  no drastic changes but definitely some polish.  this involved me learning an entirely new, complicated bit of software at break neck speed but i am a serious software junkie so i loved every minute of it!  i can’t wait to hear what our readers think!  if you are NOT already a subscriber you can get all of that info on our website - TTCRD subscription.

We have also GREATLY expanded our website and boy do we have loads of fun planned!!!  we are quickly approaching our 1 year birthday and we think that calls for a PARTY!  and this party will be open to ALL – subscribers and non subscribers alike.  think games, challenges and a heap of goodies to give out to YOU!  a fun time will be had by all i assure you!

We will also be opening up a new challenge – every 2 weeks we will issue a challenge for anyone who wants to participate.  of course a challenge will need a design team so we will be posting a call for creative folks like YOU!

Current subscribers – Magazine content and all of the tutorials and videos that go along with a subscription is still only accessible to current subscribers.

In addition we now have a referral points system in place so be sure to check out the details of that HERE.  what do you get for points?  cold hard CASH or the equivalent in a gift certificate to your favorite crafting store!!!!  EVERYONE can earn points so be sure to read all about that and get started on your collection!  We have received SO MUCH support over the last year and we want to give something in return!

Get the details on all of this and more by checking in on our News & Events page!

One last tidbit before we get on to my project!  tomorrow is release day for Susana’s Custom Art & Card Design.  we will be doing the usual blog hop fun!  i hope you will all join us!

TA DA!

hahhaha i felt like my project needed a title too :P

i used the current Mojo Monday sketch for today’s cute card.  i decided to do the square version.  In addition I have entered it for the following challenges:

Papertake Weekly: Anything Goes
Stamp Something: Flowers

My friend Elizabeth of Softpencil has been working very hard on loads of new things and has just released some new Easter digis – oh so cute in her adorable signature style.  i decided i needed to get some printed off from my collection and managed to get one colored up:

isn’t it cute!  i love love love the simplicity of the images – so relaxing to color.  i did this one using Prismas and Gamsol – i usually don’t use Gamsol but i give it a try every once in awhile!  The little tag is cut from the Christmas Cheer Cricut cartridge.

Elizabeth gave me an excellent tip about digis and colored pencils – i had some trouble with my black ink smearing.  She said give it a mist with Workable Fixative and the problem is solved.  Works brilliantly!  it comes in a spray can much like spray paint would and is available at most craft stores.

I am continuing to put the Colored Pencil class together as I know folks are anxious to enroll.  i have been getting lots of emails begging me to hurry up!

and what was pezza up to while i was typing away on this post?  torturing the poor cat of course.  the weirdest part – tiger has to be near pez no matter what stunts she is pulling with her!

i know what a mess right!
i hope you all have a great day!!!!!
hugs

LAST CALL – mag sketch!

hi all!!!!

happy valentine’s day!  i WILL have an awesome post up for you this afternoon for valentine’s day but that will have to wait (until i finish it ACK!)  we are about to head over to the little class valentine breakfast at Pezza’s school – and she says there will be singing :)  always so funny!

i had two things i wanted to note quickly this morning:

You have ONE MORE WEEK to get your submissions in for the sketch challenge for Through the Craft Room Door!  We want to see how it inspires YOU – cards, tags, layouts, any project you want using the sketch as your jumping off point!

this is a great one for those paunch around the page punches we have all been collecting…………………………..

second thing i have for you – the winner of the adhesive goodies from Imagine This Friday – Juli C.!  congrats girl!

now i am off to party :)

hugs

exciting news & a SFYTT pixie christmas

happy hump day!

**************************************

i want to start by taking a moment to recognize the fact that today is Veteran’s Day.  not only to thank all the folks who have or are risking their lives but to also thanks the families of those folks that stay here and “hold down the fort” while the soldiers are away and pick up the pieces when their sodlier comes home gravely injured.  i truly cannot imagine the strength it must take….

***************************************

now onto an exciting tidbit of news – i have been asked to be a member of the Just Buggin’ cricut challenge design team!!!!   i have to say i am really excited about it!!  i have been using my cricut alot more lately and love the challenges samantha gives over there so it’s a perfect fit for me!  i love my cricut and hope you will join in if you have a cricut too!

now for my project – which has no cricut on it – AH HAHHAHAH!  but it does have cuttlebugging and a gigantic bow:

SFYTT

isn’t she sweet!!  she is also a pollycraft digi - i printed off a whole page of them :)  so you will see more!  i don’t think i have EVER doen the white core embossed cardstock thing and am not into core’dinations papers HOWEVER i do like how this turned out – makes me think rustic which goes well with a pixie/sprite i think!  and i used one of the new UK only cuttlebug embossing folders i won from the Cuttlebug Spot – i am SO SO happy with those folders!!

i covered a few challenges with this one:

sfytt110709

i started with my friend Jen’s Sketch For You To Try which is always fantastic!

In addition i was further inspired by these:
Practical Scrappers: White Core Cardstock – WONDERFUL samples posted
Papertake Weekly: Digi Sparkle – this is also the name of the sponsor for the prize this week!
Stamp Something: Recipe – 1 ribbon, 2 papers, 3 embellishments with a prize from Mo’s Digital Pencil (this one is a stretch but it IS what inspired how i made my card – i just used two ribbons for my bow without thinking…so i figure the red bow can be the 1 ribbon and the green bow, the button, & the pezabling can be my 3 embellies – whadda y’all think??)
SFYTT close up

i colored her with Copics and added LOTS of sparkle with spica pens.  i am especially pleased with her wings.  dontcha love it when the *real life* version turns out just like you pictured in your head?  i gave her wings some very light shading in the green.  then i painted them with Pink Highlights Creative Inspirations shimmer paint – LOVE this stuff!  finally i traced over the swirls with a gold spica pen.  in real life they ahve just the right hints of green and pink along with loads of shimmery goodness!

well pezzy the wonder tot has been up since 5 am, i have done 2 loads of laundry and need to get my dishes washed and grocery list made so i better scoot!

a few reminders before i go:

I managed to squeeze in a bit of playtime for the SCS sketch challenge wednesday:

044

I LOVE this paper bu SU – one of those that you *save* {for what i don’t know} so i decided to pull it out for this one.  i did alot of edge distressing and inking with distress inks and a foam blendeing tool.  i finished off all the various corners with several of the new distress stickles – OH MAN ARE THESE NEW COLORS SWEET!  and the perfect match for this paper!  i finished off the border punched part with a few glittered skittles and then added this flower from my stash.

045

i just love this image.  my mom sketched it for me last time she was here – she did a set of three and i digitized them.  i colored with prismas and once done i realized how perfect they are for flower soft so i added that in too!

i am hoping i was able to catch the full effect of the distress stickles for you.  i definitely tend to use my distress stickles differently than my original stickles…..

well i am off to bed.  i am typing this up thursday night to be sure it is up for tomorrow.  my 18 YO dropped a bombshell on us and has us reeling a bit.  didn’t get alot done today – ahhh kids UGH!

but now me n hubby’s loch ness monster sci fi ridiculousness is over – like a train wreck…i just couldn’t stop looking! so back at it tomorrow.  thank goodness i have my SU tech club tomorrow night – i need it!

Here is Melissa’s Sketch.  you have until Sunday to link your sample over on the tuesday sketch blog to have your name in the drawing.  Several of the Playgroup girls will also have their samples posted today for PDD Tuesday!  be sure to check them out via their links to the left!

and now here’s my sample:

tues am sketch

I finally had a chance to really use one the newer Pezadoodle stamp sets to it’s fullest – these is the Picnicin Ladybug set.  This set includes the main image, the border on the left, the ice cream cone single stamp used to make the embellie on the bow AND the mini single ice cream cone used to make the background paper (the tiny flower are from the Sprinkled Backgrounds Set).  In addition i used the coordinating ice cream cone skittles that also come in the stamp set!  The border stamp is made so that the skittles and the smaller ice cream cone stamp fit perfectly in between the border images.  all sets can be mixed and matched in this way giving you a lot more options with your Pezadoodle sets!  the top embellie is cut with my cricut using the Stretch Your Imagination cart.

 Photobucket

I colored my main image with prismas and gamsol.  i left the flower center in pencil only to give it a bit of a rough look like the flower center would really be.  After coloring i painted some Creative Inspirations shimmer paint on the leaf and flower petals to give them some zing which i hope you can see in my crazy moving picture – it’s so hard to give an adequate picture of the shimmery-ness of these paints.  i am just totally addicted!  i really love that the shading still shows through beautifully!  (oh and she is eating my fave ice cream – shwans lemon frozen yogurt!)

Well today is the first day of school here in northern VA – Trevor starts a new school – he had to transfer to loudoun county high so he could be in NJROTC.  luckily he is already mostly familiar with the school and has made some friends since he was doing football practice all summer and also two leadership special sessions with some of the ROTC students.  however he WILL have to drive in traffic to get there – poor kid!

Pezzy ALSO starts playschool today.  she is at this moment throwing herself on the floor in slow motion wailing because she just asked if she could go to school now and i told her it wasn’t time yet.  when she does her fake drama cry she actually SAYS waahhhhh haaah haaah – hilarious – but a little annoying when you do it every day…….she has been up since 4:30…..kid’s gonna be the death of me i tell ya – good thing she is way too cute for words!!!!!  Daddy got her some goldfish yesterday – she named them swimmer and fin – so funny listening to her talking to them!

well that’s enough from me!  i hope y’all have a FABULOUS day!
