We will also be opening up a new challenge – every 2 weeks we will issue a challenge for anyone who wants to participate.  of course a challenge will need a design team so we will be posting a call for creative folks like YOU!

Current subscribers – Magazine content and all of the tutorials and videos that go along with a subscription is still only accessible to current subscribers.

In addition we now have a referral points system in place so be sure to check out the details of that HERE.  what do you get for points?  cold hard CASH or the equivalent in a gift certificate to your favorite crafting store!!!!  EVERYONE can earn points so be sure to read all about that and get started on your collection!  We have received SO MUCH support over the last year and we want to give something in return!

Get the details on all of this and more by checking in on our News & Events page!

SCACD

One last tidbit before we get on to my project!  tomorrow is release day for Susana’s Custom Art & Card Design.  we will be doing the usual blog hop fun!  i hope you will all join us!

TA DA!

hahhaha i felt like my project needed a title too :P

i used the current Mojo Monday sketch for today’s cute card.  i decided to do the square version.  In addition I have entered it for the following challenges:

Papertake Weekly: Anything Goes
Stamp Something: Flowers

My friend Elizabeth of Softpencil has been working very hard on loads of new things and has just released some new Easter digis – oh so cute in her adorable signature style.  i decided i needed to get some printed off from my collection and managed to get one colored up:

isn’t it cute!  i love love love the simplicity of the images – so relaxing to color.  i did this one using Prismas and Gamsol – i usually don’t use Gamsol but i give it a try every once in awhile!  The little tag is cut from the Christmas Cheer Cricut cartridge.

Elizabeth gave me an excellent tip about digis and colored pencils – i had some trouble with my black ink smearing.  She said give it a mist with Workable Fixative and the problem is solved.  Works brilliantly!  it comes in a spray can much like spray paint would and is available at most craft stores.

I am continuing to put the Colored Pencil class together as I know folks are anxious to enroll.  i have been getting lots of emails begging me to hurry up!

and what was pezza up to while i was typing away on this post?  torturing the poor cat of course.  the weirdest part – tiger has to be near pez no matter what stunts she is pulling with her!

i know what a mess right!
i hope you all have a great day!!!!!
hugs

an artful collage!

sfytt060510today i am sharing my Think Ink challenge card with you using Artful INKables stamps!  The challenge is to go outside of the box and do something new.  so i did the collage tutorial from the artful inkables blog from last week.

i also used the SFYTT sketch and the SCS color challenge – Ruby red, Cameo Coral & Tempting Turquoise.

I used stamps from 3 different Artful Inkables sets: In My Garden, Bugs & Blossoms Mandalas, & Fanciful Flowers.  i also used 4 different shades of inks from versamagic, brilliance and memento – LOVE having all of those little dew drops handy!

the trim across the top is from Webster’s Pages – pretty cool huh?!?!  i finished it off with a flower i crocheted myself and some of my exclusive glittered skittles.  What do you think??  This was a fun technique!  quick and easy too!

and now pezzy and i are off to walmart – think they will have any of those LITE carts?  i have 9 more on my wish list! *SCREECH*  that will take awhile to collect :P  maybe i can sneak one into the cart each week when i go grocery shopping…

see ya tomorrow!!!

Now i want to show you the fun stuff we made in class yesterday with Claudine:

Each tag demonstrated a different technique using Claudine’s fantastic line of paints, mediums and sticky back canves.  Directions are on the back of each tag.  These are such fun classes to take – i did learn lots of fun things and got to experiment with her full line of goodies.  Here are my favorite tags:

NOT a coincidence that they all use the sticky back canvas!  LOVE the stuff!  just another different texture to work with instead of paper.  i also did some transfer techniques for the first time ever – FUN STUFF!  i am not quite sure when i would need to use that as opposed to just stamping BUT it is net how it works!  i do have some ideas i may try tho.  anyone out there do transfers and why/when???  i think the other neatest thing is the red and bronze tag – it has the look/feel of vinyl or pleather – pretty cool!

i wonder if folks would be interested in an online technique workshop sort of like this but that included a finished project with each technique too…???

i have a simple but pretty project for today’s Just Buggin’ challenge – gift tags!  This week Samantha has challenged us to use stamps with our cricut cuts.  one of my swaps i am in is for valentine goodie bags so i decided to go with some tags instead of bag toppers for this one:

i started by cutting TWO tags – 1 white and 1 red.  then using the shadow feature i cut a black one.  Next i took the red tags and cut the top & bottoms off – this way i have a label that is a perfect fit.  to jazz up the white layer i stamped some hearts with versamark and covered them with some awesome holographic embossing powder from ranger.  it has a rainbow shimmer effect.  Next i edged the white tag with red ink using my foam blending tool and then i lined the white and red pieces with crystal ice stickles.  Ice stickles also have a holographic look to them.  i am making goodies bags for kids so i stamped friend on the tag (studio G of course) and then added a little poly clay embellie.  an eyelet and ribbon tied with wax thread finishes them off!  the layers are attached with foam tape to add some dimension.

foam blending tools and extra foams are back in stock and ice stickles are still 40% off!!

If you like bling, shimmer & shine be sure to catch my TIOT post tomorrow!!

Hope your week is off to a GREAT start!!!!

NEW STAMPS RELEASED TODAY!!

blog tag

GOOD MORNING!!!

i am (finally) releasing some new Christmas stamps for y’all!!!  there was somewhat of a delay at the manufacturer which was disappointing but i am glad to finally have them in my hot little hands!

i have TWO frame stamps designed to fit the Scallop Rectangle Nestibilities die.  These are drawn by my mom, Marty Ayo, a fantastic porcelain artist and long time painter.

I also have TWO GORGEOUS art stamps.  These are done from pen and ink drawings by my brother, Dr. James Banos.  He is also a long time, accomplished artist and i was thrilled when he agreed to let me do some stamps with his artwork.  These stamps are incredibly detailed and very versatile.  They can be colored in OR used without coloring in for folks who aren’t into coloring.

i have SO many ideas for these but not nearly enough time to do them all – especially all at once!  but i do have a few samples for you and you can check out what Cheryl and Sandie have done with them also!

for this card i paired the candle frame up with an ADORABLE little snowman peeking out of a stocking from Peachy Keen stamps.

both images are colored with copics.  i used something new on the stocking cuff and ball of the snowmans hat.  it is called sparkle fluff and was in my DT goodie box from Susana.   let me tell you this stuff is awesome!  it is so soft you can’t feel it when you pick it up and it has little sparklies in it.  i used it just like i use flower soft and it is like velvet – very cool effect!  i will be using it more often!  it comes in LOTS of colors.

next up is the snowflake border.  i thought this little snowman and sentiment from Hampton Arts were a nice fit!  of course he has a couple snowflake skittles too!  i expect these to be back in stock this week!!

i stamped both the frame and sentiment with encore blue metallic ink.  i love how it adds just a little something extra to the main image panel!

i will have some samples with the others on wednesday!  posted along with details of the big sale!!

i am so excited to be the feature stamper over at Tuesday Morning Sketches!

My Sketch 13

Melissa has this fun sketch up for this week and as always – there is a prize up for grabs from Lindsay at Sassy Studio Designs!!

 Photobucket

I had SO many ideas for this I may just have to make another one if I get time this week!

Here is mine:

tuesAMcard

This was SUCH a fun little card to do!  the patterned paper is one of my MOST favorite ones from SU.  I decided this was a perfect sketch to break out a just rite stamper set from my friend terri at Stampsalive – she always has great prices if you are looking for anything just rite, cuttlebug, cricut or spellbinders!  so on the top circle i used a border and a center sentiment piece.  then on the bottom circle i just used the border piece to frame my birds a bit.  i thought the side pieces would be great for little cricut border cuts – i edge my cuts with an ink blending foam tool – makes it quick and easy.

tuesAM close upthe larger bird is grungepaper – cuts nicely in the Cricut with the deep cut blade!  i embossed the grungepaper, painted it with a paint dabber, sanded lightly, rubbed on distress ink – ink only sticks where the paints is rubbed off by the sanding.  i gave them a little flower soft *dirt* to stand in and finished off with a machine stitched edging (thanks to DH for fixing my machine for me – he’s awesome!) and a row of glittered skittles where melissa had brad – looking things on her sketch – i gotta say the skittles really MADE the card.  wish i had taken before and after pics!

i SO need to use my cricut more like i used to!!  much cheaper addiction than stamping!
